1 Cor. 14:33 ~ "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints."
Elder Vanessa Long |
Friday Morning By Statement
{I have}"decided to terminate my marriage" {after a} "great deal of deliberation and prayer"..."It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously, and fairly,"..."I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter,"..."I also ask that the public pray for my entire family during this difficult period of transition."
Friday, Early Afternoon By Email:
"Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long,"..."I love my husband. I believe in him and admire his strength and courage."
Update: Friday 12/2/11 NIGHT:
"Consistent with her original statement made this morning, Mrs. Long continues to hope that this matter may be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously and fairly; however, she has determined that dismissal of her divorce petition is not appropriate at this time.
To avoid any undue confusion, Mrs. Long's future statements, if any, will be issued through her attorneys only. At this time, neither she nor we will have any further comment on this matter.
The statement was issued by Michael W. Tyler, a Kilpatrick Townsend partner."~ Fox 5 News Atlanta
Well, we all knew that if bishop Long wasn't guilty of the over 400 allegations of sexual and financial impropriety against him, that like Bob Costas told Jerry Sandusky, he was one of the most lied on individuals that ever lived.
This morning, Vanessa Long released the above statement in part regarding her marriage to who we know as bishop Eddie Long. She later released another statement recanting her decisions to divorce bishop Long. Although we may not know whether she is actually filing for divorce not, or whether she intends to follow through or not, we are certain that ALL of this CONFUSION is authorized by the devil and has been perpetuated by bishop Long himself. With confusion as this we can gain a better picture of just why the bishop may have dropped those stones that he said he had to throw.
"We're not just a church, we're an international corporation. We're not just a bumbling bunch of preachers who can't talk and all we're doing is baptizing babies. I deal with the White House, I deal with Tony Blair, I deal with presidents around this world. I pastor a multi-million dollar congregation. You've got to put me on a different scale than the little Black preacher sitting over there {who's} supposed to be just getting by because the people are suffering." ~ Bishop Eddie Long ATL Journal Constitution 2005 ("Watch This" Pt. 6 ~ Weighed On A Different Scale)
Being honest, until today, I had no clue as to what Vanessa Long was really thinking. Although there have been reports that she moved, and was considering leaving the bishop etc. It is hard to tell an individual's motivations to either do or not do something. One wonders, is the money more important than anything? Is God more important than anything? Is the stability of the family and church most important?
Caught in the wake is a family. We can only pray that his children are blessed and supported through this very trying time. I can't fathom the emotions that their children experienced at the revelations of sexual sins and inappropriate sexual activities that have been exposed in this case. I can't imagine what the holiday season has become when everyone gathers together. Caught in the wake is a church. Though there have been various reports as to what is happening at New Birth, and many (including myself to a degree) have criticized the members for heaping what appears to be worship upon this man, as a community of believers we can only imagine the pain that this is causing all families related to and associated with this ministry.
All we can do, the BEST thing we can do is pray for their strength and stability of all the people involved. The confusion of Sister Long in this issue is understandable and seeing that there is such a delicate balance at this point, we must pray that she finds the strength of God to stand in this very trying situation.
2 Cor. 12:9 ~ "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Blessed!
Lord please help this woman. Nothing good can happen to people under this amount of confusion.
ReplyDeleteNow Some have said that this whole thing is suspect anyway. That she may be using this as a negotiating tool. She currently is set to receive about $40,000 per month from the church or Long, I'm unsure.
I don't know about any of that. I haven't seen the evidence for it, but I do know that she and they need prayer now, like never before. This woman could snap under this pressure and we don't need that. Please don't let Long's sins or any of this separate her mind from the God of healing!
Thanks, Pastor. Wow. May God help us to obey his word from the heart; then we won't have to worry about our sins exposing, embarrasing, and humiliating us. We won't have to worry about the past haunting us.
ReplyDeleteIs it about the money...I received info that the bishop and the ministry came under a tremendous amount of pressure with a new federal investigation and that Sister Long is trying to get what she can and exit.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea if that is true, but we already knew that the investigation was either coming or on the horizon especially in light of the over 400 allegations. many of those allegations dealt with financial misuse of funds called misappropriation of funds.
This could mean prison time for the bishop and not just a mere settlement or penalty. I don't know how Vanessa could be helped by taking the money, because under RICO, if it is similar to a RICO all assets are frozen until they have determined guilt.
This is really a mess.
