You see, we remember when Bishop Eddie Long wasn't content to just be one of us. He like Juanita II had to be ABOVE us and greater than us all. The command of money and crowd reveals the faults that already exist. Even in that, being above others is OK if God has placed you there, but remember that to whom much is given much is required.(Lk.12:48) We must remember what Eddie said:
"We're not just a church, we're an international corporation. We're not just a bumbling bunch of preachers who can't talk and all we're doing is baptizing babies. I deal with the White House, I deal with Tony Blair, I deal with presidents around this world. I pastor a multi-million dollar congregation. You've got to put me on a different scale than the little Black preacher sitting over there {who's} supposed to be just getting by because the people are suffering." ~ Bishop Eddie Long ATL Journal Constitution 2005
Self-Exaltation Does Fail:
Now, after vowing to "fight" and show the world his innocence, I guess he has found that it's cheaper to keeper secret, and paying a private settlement is better than having all the ungodly details of what he actually he did fully examined in the public square. At least Mother Long may get a husband back after this. So that's a good thing!
Accusers...sell yourselves to this man again for his money, but none of what you said you wanted to accomplish will happen. The danger that you wanted to keep other potential victims from will continue on, but you won't be able to say that you didn't have your chance to make a difference neither will you be able to say that you did make a difference and that would be a tragedy especially after all of this.
Daniel 5:25-28 ~ "25-And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. 26-This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. 27-TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. 28-PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians."
Blessed!
Im thoroughly convinced, as I have been all along, that the accusers just wanted some money. They weren't complaining when they were getting free money and trips.
ReplyDeleteFunny how FM uses this to attack the young men.
ReplyDeleteWould it make it any better for Eddie Long if they wanted money?
Does it mean that the sexual encounters didnt take place?
Does it mean that EL's is innocent?
Here it is, if nothing happened there would be no mediation now would there be? There would be no accusations. So as it stands, EL put himself in a position for them to try to get monet from him (though I dont believe that they did if fot money).
And people still dont get manipulation especially coming from a so called man of God but I digress.
Yes, to the young men Money was a big part of this situation in the first place. Taking this money will undermine what you have suffered and any good that can come of this for people in a similar situation. This will also set EL free to just continue his manipulation as if nothing happened.
A mans life does not consist in the abundance of things!
Dont sell OUT!
Hey Pastor, how is everything going?
ReplyDeleteDear FM,
ReplyDeleteI'm inclined to agree w/you all in this situation will be held accountable and responsible for there actions, in the eyes of God and man. Though we must remember in both God and mans eyes the Bishop will be held more accountable. Also we must remember only the Spirit of God, can help us keep things in the proper perspective, without his help we will run on emotions instead of being sensitive to the situation.
Paul,
ReplyDeleteDoing well my friend. Thanks for asking. I take it that you have been well also?
God bless.
Paul,
ReplyDeleteIm not attacking the young men im just saying they don't deserve any money. And I agree, the bishop is more accountable. Thats why i feel he should be stripped of his church and his title of bishop.
On the other hand, these young men were old enough to resist if they had wanted to. I've seen some 17-18 year old boys 6 feet tall 200 pounds, no one is making them do anything they didnt want to do.
I think they were granting sexual favors for money and trips and then when the money started drying up, they didnt want to give up the lifestyle that the bishop got them used to.
Friends,
ReplyDeleteI was caused by the Holy Spirit to ponder on the events that ocurred in the gospel of Luke, while partaking in the transfiguration, Peter caught up in awe and because of such, ignorant (please do not take this word in the negative but in the positive) of what was going on, said "Lord let us build a tabernacle for you, Moses and Elijah" and then we hear the voice of God say, "This is my beloved Son listen to him." To many of us have built tabernacles to our pastors and bishops instead of honoring them, for when you truly honor them, you will know that they are still human, prone to error (sometimes great) and are still held to accountability and responsibility to the flocks given them.
But when we "deify" them we strip them of that accountability and responsibility, deifying and honoring them are entirely (2) different things. When I've committed to the above, I now walk "blindly" and when I walk blindly in loyalty, faith and obedience, we make room for the enemy of our soul, thus taking our eyes off of God, and onto an individual and ourselves inspite of the obvious faulty consequences.
Let us cease building tabernacles to our leaders instead let us honor and love them that are due it and rebuke and correct those who are not, for if they truly receive the correction they will truly repent, but if not there true heart will be shown, "For a tree is known by its fruit not its gift."
We must remember God's Word constantly rebukes not only wayward pastors, but also the congregations who blindly follow them to justify there own waywardness.
I think this article will tell you why Bishop Long will fight stepping down to the bitter end....http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5922484/bishop_eddie_longs_resignation_means.html?cat=3
ReplyDeleteThis know also, that in last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be LOVERS OF THEIR OWN SELVES,COVETOUS,BOASTERS,PROUD...HIGHMINDED,LOVERS OF PLEASURES MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD;HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS,BUT DENYING THE POWER THEREOF:from such turn away(2 Tim. 3) This is a perfect example of the times we are living in,get ready, there is more to come.
ReplyDeletePastor, yes I am blessed!
ReplyDeleteFM, I would say whether they wanted money or not is irrelevant.
I would also say that no one can understand the influence this man would have over these youth unless you go to the Church and were in their shoes.
I believe Bro Toney has been elightened to the issue at hand by the Holy Spirit. These men are deified. Can you imagine the influence over an young, immature, fatherless child that a man that is glorfied by millions across the would could have.
If they take the money, it will not work for good in my view.
My Dear Bro. Paul,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the edification, and allow me to say over the years reading your comments, have caused to me to say this of you. Jeremiah had a ministry that was not very properly as we all know, it was a minstry of tearing down and building up, plucking up and planting. This minstry my friend I believe you have, it may seem contentious to some, but to God thats what were all called to do.
Pastor, I know this is alittle off topic, but could you in the near future start a blog concerning some of the dangers of youth ministries, I'm extremely concerning about the proper teaching and encouragement given to our youth, for it seems there more encouraged and edified for there doing more than there receiving of proper spiritual instruction. Cliquish behavior seems to be heightened w/which breeds partiality and biasness, devoid of true love and unity. Once again could you in the future post a blog about it.
Now, the battle is over who gets deposed first...OK, TRUTH can go first or last, but I do understand the "twisting" of certain material facts can cloud the minds, but best bet is to stick with the ttruth isn't it?
