Presidential Promises. Is The Church Ready?

Thank God that this site has comments and commentors that offer a somewhat profound points of view. When that's coupled with information highly valuable to the reading audience and the research that goes along with it, it becomes highly exciting to me.

For this post we offer "Kudos" and special regards to one of our commentors Corrie Richards who gave response to a particular comment on the post COGIC Member Fought Prop. 8 & Encouraged Gay Marriage. Corrie brings information to light which is to be highly considered as we move forward as a church and community of believers. She's also granted permission for this posting and I've added the pictures but the words are Corrie's in their entirity.

The following is a clear example of how he feels. This is a recorded message that came to MY personal phone from a Gay Marriage supporter on Nov. 3rd. Please note that the following is verbatim. I saved the message!(female voice)

"I'm, calling to set the record straight about what Barack Obama really thinks about Proposition 8; he opposes it. Don't just take my word, listen for yourself."

"I've stated my opposition. I think it's unnecessary. When you start playing around with constitutions just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that that's just not what America is about."

"So join Barack Obama, and vote NO on Proposition 8. Paid for by NO on 8."

I think that's pretty clear, don't you?

Additionally, we also know where Obama stands on abortion. The supportive Saints like to say, "He's not pro-abortion, he just believes in a woman's right to choose", But that's just mincing words! Here you will hear him say that the first thing he plans to do after his inauguration is to sign the Freedom of Choice Act. The Freedom of Choice Act (H.R. 3719/S. 2020) is a bill in the United States Congress which, if enacted, would abolish ALL RESTRICTIONS and LIMITATIONS on the right of women in the United States to have an abortion, whether at the State or Federal level. Well, now we also have his position clearly presented on abortions!

I understand that we Saints like to think positively about people, and we should always be ready to give others the benefit of the doubt. But with Obama, there's no reason for any of us to be in the dark about what he stands for - He's told us in words and deeds for several years now, and it's recorded all over the place for us to read and hear! We don't need to guess or "suspect" what he stands for. So let's stop being in the dark about our new President elect, and stop trying to put our thoughts in his head - as if he's really "just like us Saints in his views". This is not true, and believing what is not true will cause us to pray "amiss". We cannot dress him up in "Saints clothes" and pretend that he's really standing for the same thing we stand for. We must stop using our "holy imagination" about President-elect Obama's positions, and come face to face with who and what the Black Christian community really supported in this election, then seek God's help - for him and for us!

He is willing and able to help us if we come to Him humbly and honestly. (2 Chron. 7:14)

President Obama, Adolf Hitler & The "Catholic Conscience"...Really???

The Peoria, IL. Diocean Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, Bishop Daniel Jenky, took the time to rally the community at the annual Call to Catholic Men of Faith march last Saturday April 14th. It seems that Bishop Jenky has joined a host of other even more prominently known Catholic leaders, such as Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, in condemning the Obama administration over the issue of mandatory contraception coverage within the health care law.  

It really is interesting because the administration courted Catholics in particular, prior to the election, even providing reassurance that it wouldn't infringe upon religious liberty and freedoms only to do a complete 180 on the issue currently.

The Obama Doctrine Of Pluralism & Eclecticism

On Sunday May 17th 2009 President Barack Obama appeared at the University Of Notre Dame (UND) to render their Class of 2009 Commencement Address. As most of you know, the President's views on abortion and the traditional and stated Catholic view of abortion is at best contradictory and was a major point of emphasis leading up to the ceremony.

Most Catholics, along with most Protestant Christians, Evangelicals and others hold to the sanctity of life and generally fall into the anti-abortion camp. President Obama however is an advocate of Roe v. Wade which instituted abortion as the law of the land in 1973. That law has arguably been responsible for over 50 million deaths of American babies in the interim. I discuss those facts and others in my post "Yes We Can ~ Eliminate Abortion. Can't We?" What's unique about this is that President Obama claims to be a dedicated "Christian" while espousing these views, and seeks to openly engage other Christians to try to persuade them to his methodology and thinking. The part that catches most Christians off guard is that the President presents his views as if his beliefs are normative, and somehow better representative of the true "diversity" and "culture" of both Christianity and American values. The fact is that the President espouses views of religious and social pluralism.

From reading and hearing him speak, pluralism in President's Obama's view comprises 2 elements: 1- A condition in which numerous distinct ethnic, religious, or cultural groups are present and tolerated within a society and 2- The belief that no single explanatory system or view of reality can account for all the phenomena of life. These concepts lead to what is called secular inclusion, which doesn't strip individuals of their spirituality but tells them that their religious values and views must be pliable or moldable to humanitarian and social views. In other words: "Check the bible at the door".

An additional problem is that President Obama does not distinguish the difference between religious and social pluralism. He melds them together into one universal, pluralistic pot. To backtrack and confirm this control belief, one must look back to then Senator Obama's speech when he contrasted the problem of advancing a society while holding to religious views and viewpoints especially conservative Christian viewpoints espoused by leaders such as Alan Keyes:

• "...and I think it's time that we join a serious debate about how to reconcile faith with our modern, pluralistic democracy."..."Now this is going to be difficult for some who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, as many evangelicals do. But in a pluralistic democracy, we have no choice. It is upon that platform that President Obama spoke at UND. I would like to look at a few of the more interesting points of the President's address to the 2009 graduates of UND as in his address we see shades of all of his theories and a fully developed apologetic. When placed along side of others statements that he's made in the past regarding these issues his viewpoints are especially telling.

Please keep in mind that President Obama wouldn't show up for the Washington March For Life or the National Day Of Prayer event, but he did show up at UND. The reason why, does not escape us as college campuses are the battle ground for the proliferation of new age thought. As enthusiastic as an Evangelist willing to spread the good news of the Kingdom of Christ, President Obama is more than willing to spread the Godlessness of Pluralism and Eclecticism. Here's some of what he said:

• "For the major threats we face in the 21st century -- whether it's global recession or violent extremism; the spread of nuclear weapons or pandemic disease -- these things do not discriminate. They do not recognize borders. They do not see color. They do not target specific ethnic groups.Moreover, no one person, or religion, or nation can meet these challenges alone. Our very survival has never required greater cooperation and greater understanding among all people from all places than at this moment in history." ~ President Barack Obama UND 5/17/09

Similar to Hillary Clinton's, "It takes a village to raise a child" making everyone responsible for the condition of a few (when the truth is it only takes 2 godly parents and even 1 will do especially when there's trust and faith in God) President Obama wasn't short on defining the limitations and inadequacies of both religion, humanity and nations in dealing with the important issues of our time.

As a rule Presidents don't usually invoke limitations, especially limitations of religions and religious systems. Even though his campaign theme was "Yes We Can" President Obama, unlike any other American President, seems to have defined the limitations of all religions and especially the Christian religion. Noting that no "one person" or no "one religion" can meet the challenges that the world faces alone, he begins to describe a vision of partnerships and sharing that crosses all lines of separation (except governmental) for the benefit of humanity. This concept is called eclecticism. Eclecticism is "a conceptual approach that does not hold rigidly to a single paradigm or set of assumptions, but instead draws upon multiple theories, styles, or ideas to gain complementary insights into a subject, or applies different theories in particular cases."

Obviously, America is a pluralistic and eclectic society in many facets. In social matters eclecticism has its benefits. The problem is when the church doesn't recognize that the absolute nature of God's word is being challenged or thrown under the bus at the expense of fancy and lofty sounding, subjective humanistic values. Unfortunately, the church sometimes cannot discern what is being preached to them. Some are entrapped by the voices of "strangers". I know UND is not or was not the "church" but they were representative of the church in this instance and as an institution is representative of values that the church has traditionally held.

As stated, President Obama's speech at UND was full of pluralistic and eclectic concepts. In President's Obama's view Christianity is only one path that people have chosen to suit their needs and must be tempered by other religious beliefs in order to come up with the best possible solutions for all. Case and point? Let's revert to his speech some time ago at the National Prayer Breakfast.

• "We will also reach out to leaders and scholars around the world to foster a more productive and peaceful dialogue on faith. I don’t expect divisions to disappear overnight, nor do I believe that long-held views and conflicts will suddenly vanish. But I do believe that if we can talk to one another openly and honestly, then perhaps old rifts will start to mend and new partnerships will begin to emerge." ~ President Barack Obama NPB Washington, D.C. 2/5/2009
  

To listen to our President define what's needed among religions, you would think that there is an all out religious war going on in the United States. The wording "foster a more productive dialogue" suggests that various religious leaders and faiths can't share the same room and certainly can't get anything significant done. Then he speaks that he doesn't expect "divisions to disappear overnight" as if there are casualties of war and deep scars that must be healed daily. This is ridiculous. Just like many of you reading this, I work with and meet individuals regularly who are of differing faiths and denominations. We have excellent working relationships and respect for one another. Presidential views here are what's called a "strawman". Something that looks real on the surface but has no substance or reality.

The Appeal To Not Wear Religious Values & Views Too Closely:

In one of the most astounding parts of the President's speech to UND students, he praises religious values as a virtue as follows:

• "And in this world of competing claims about what is right and what is true, have confidence in the values with which you've been raised and educated. Be unafraid to speak your mind when those values are at stake. Hold firm to your faith and allow it to guide you on your journey. In other words, stand as a lighthouse."

On it's own that sounds good. The encouragements are well taken. Hold on to your faith, speak the truth, live your faith!...but in the same breath what comes next is straight out of the humanist handbook 101:

• "But remember, too, that you can be a crossroads. Remember, too, that the ultimate irony of faith is that it necessarily admits doubt. It's the belief in things not seen. It's beyond our capacity as human beings to know with certainty what God has planned for us or what He asks of us."

We must admit that it's beyond our imagination to know the beauty that God has planned for us as believers, but that in now way reduces our ability to know of certainty that he DOES have beautiful things planned. As Christians we know that "faith" is present NOW (Heb. 11:1) and that eternal life begins NOW (Jn. 3:16, Rom.10:8-9). The irony of the statement is that President Obama addresses a religious institution telling them that even they cannot be certain of their faith as it pertains to God or HIS plans. In essence, The President expresses that faith is a proposition that is filled with doubt which can only be managed, not overcome. Every religious student at the ceremony, and every faithfully observant religious professor, should have been outraged that the President basically told them that even what they believe is an uncertain proposition. Let's look further:

• "And those of us who believe must trust that His wisdom is greater than our own.And this doubt should not push us away {from} our faith. But it should humble us. It should temper our passions, cause us to be wary of too much self-righteousness. It should compel us to remain open and curious and eager to continue the spiritual and moral debate that began for so many of you within the walls of Notre Dame."

The President makes many assumptions in these statements. Basically it says that faith can never be too confident, because after all, it is only "faith". The President reduces Faith to a set of lofty hopes, or mere wishful thinking about good things. However, as demonstrated by his encouragement to "doubt" faith is unreal and an untenable truth as it pertains to natural things. Certainly in President Obama's world faith is not an absolute and by his own words it should be "tempered", and "remain open and curious" because, after all, YOU COULD BE WRONG.

One final note here, the President immediately appealed for the students to move away from parochial principles to universal principles. Parochial, meaning principles that are narrow in scope, not diverse in considerations of the issue at hand and for the benefit of the community from which their values are derived which is usually the church. Look at this:

• "And within our vast democracy, this doubt should remind us even as we cling to our faith to persuade through reason, through an appeal, whenever we can, to universal rather than parochial principles, and most of all through an abiding example of good works and charity and kindness and service that moves hearts and minds."

As I said, this basically means hold on to your faith, but YOU COULD BE WRONG so appeal to universal principles (notions that everyone can accept) rather than those learned in church, through the bible or in relationship to God, because those values may not have mass appeal and are only about "faith" and everyone can't get with that...The ultimate encouragement to religious people to not be too religious.

The Real Issue, Abortion & The Ultimate Misdirection:

What is specially interesting about President Obama's speeches is that sometimes he misdirects and says nothing while appearing to address the issue at hand. At UND The President began speaking about a Dr. who disagreed with his stance on right-winged anti-abortionists. He later said that the Dr. helped him to better understand that a diversity of ideas should be desired when it comes to addressing the abortion issue. In other words the Dr. helped remind him that he himself was a pluralist instead of the left-wing extremist that he had become. Then, suddenly, The President changed the argument. Look at this:

• "Because when we do that -- when we open up our hearts and our minds to those who may not think precisely like we do or believe precisely what we believe -- that's when we discover at least the possibility of common ground.That's when we begin to say, "Maybe we won't agree on abortion, but we can still agree that this heart-wrenching decision for any woman is not made casually, it has both moral and spiritual dimensions."

The problem here is that abortion was the watershed issue of this whole encounter. The anti-abortionist doesn't negate the woman's right or equality. The anti-abortionist merely emphasizes the unborn's right to equally exist. He completely overlooks or writes off abortion itself as something that "we won't agree on" and immediately undertakes another issue. Where is ANY mention of a human beings right to life or right to exist? It skillfully and calculatingly doesn't exist in President Obama's dialogue. He further states:

• "So let us work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions, let's reduce unintended pregnancies. (Applause.) Let's make adoption more available. (Applause.) Let's provide care and support for women who do carry their children to term. (Applause.) Let's honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded not only in sound science, but also in clear ethics, as well as respect for the equality of women." Those are things we can do. (Applause.)"

Reducing the number of women seeking abortions doesn't address stopping abortion or changing the law that is currently favorable to killing the unborn. In lieu, the President says appease or "honor the conscience" of those who believe that babies have a right to live by drafting a "conscience clause"??? In a sense this is very telling because it indicates that currently abortion is unconscionable or at least viewed that way by the anti-abortionist. Then the President says, root policies in "sound science" and "clear ethics" and "respect the equality of women"... Once again, notice how the President takes the argument AWAY from the center of abortion and focuses the conversation on the "science", "ethics" and "equality of women" emphasizing the moral and spiritual implications of HER decision, with no regard to addressing the moral and spiritual implications of murdering the innocent through the act of abortion. What do the President's statements here say??? I'll tell you what they say...NOTHING! This whole tirade was designed to change the argument away from fetus killing to a woman making a decision that has both moral and spiritual dimensions, because he readily admits that the practice and act of abortion itself is something that we can't agree on.

But my question to President Obama is this:

Is abortion murder, physically, morally, spiritually and/or ethically??? If not, on what basis do you make your evaluation; morally, ethically, physically or spiritually???

Maybe his statements in A Call To Renewal will clarify what the President was actually telling the graduates of UND:

• "Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all." ~ Senator Barack Obama "A Call To Renewal" Washington, D.C. 6/28/2006

By the President's own words I know that God has not been a part of his decision to promote and make room for abortion. He says this in confirmation of such:

• "But no matter what we choose to believe, let us remember that there is no religion whose central tenet is hate. There is no God who condones taking the life of an innocent human being. This much we know." ~ President Barack Obama NPB Washington, DC. 2/5/2009

There is NO GOD who condones taking the life of an innocent human being??? Is that really so Mr. President? Then why do you condone it???

BARACK-ING the GAY AGENDA - CAN WE REALLY SAY YES TO THIS CHANGE?

In a recent comment exchange with an individual on a popular nationally syndicated, music station web-site, I asked should we as a church endorse and promote homosexual Gospel artists and musicians? Of course I was met by the same ole "all sin is sin" and "we are all sinners saved by grace" commentary as expected. After some bantering, I had the opportunity to explain the unique egregious nature of homosexual sin and set forth the following statement:

"You know whose feeling will be hurt? My children and your children's when they get confused thinking that God has accepted the sins and abominations of a sinner while we endorse the same sinners actions and gender bending ways, and encourage them to hide somewhere in the church so they won't draw much attention"

I further explained that I wasn't going to be the one to give homosexuals the opportunity to twist the minds of MY children or the children in our churches through "silent endorsement" while sodomites and lesbians sing, parade and perform without the correction and rebuke of the Lord through sound leadership and biblical exposition.

Silent Endorsement? - Y'u-know, that's the type of endorsement given without words. The type of endorsement that allows our Sainted Bishops, Mothers, Pastors, Ministers, and Evangelists to sit and watch the "gay exchanges" that take place among their musicians, choirs and church leaders while sitting and saying NOTHING.

All too often when many Christian leaders say that they do "feel led" to say something, it's usually things like "God said let the wheat and tare grow together." That type of endorsement is similar to what the military uses..."Don't ask, don't tell."

If this type of "silent endorsement" from the church continues and if Barack Obama is elected, (Especially now that he has our beloved Kennedy Family endorsement) I guess we should expect to see a federal requirement of 3rd and 4th styled bathrooms installed in our churches...One for SAME GENDER LOVING MEN/WOMEN and another for SAME GENDER LOVING WOMEN/MEN ???

Yep, you read it right. I said BARACK OBAMA. Just in case you didn't know, read the following idealistic commentary regarding gay and homosexual rights that our dear Senator plans to confer upon the nation if elected:

"I am not willing to have the state deny American citizens a civil union that confers equivalent rights on such basic matters as hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the people they love are of the same sex – nor am I willing to accept a reading of the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be more defining of Christianity than the sermon on the mount." ~ Sen. Barack H. Obama

Now, the POLITICIAN has reinterpreted the Bible calling Romans 1:24-28 "an obscure line"... FYI, here's what that "obscure line" says:

"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; "

Further, President elect Obama plans to change the actuarial basis of risk assessment currently used by insurance companies. From his statement and many others, he has postured himself to assume not only political leadership of the nation but also spiritual leadership and direction of the church if elected. All done to fit his worldview of "gay-inclusion." ~ CHANGE? NO WE CAN'T!

Leadership of the church by secular and political figures?...Well, needless to say, all of this has been tried before.

In Mt. 2:13-19 we read a little of the story of Herod the Great (73Bc-4BC) FYI- He was a wicked and mentally ill King of Judea from about 40 BC - 4BC his very name means HERO. He was appointed Procurator of Judea by Roman Emperor Julius Caesar in 47 BC. He was made "King of Judea" by the Roman Senate at the suggestion of Roman Emperor Marc Antony and later confirmed by Roman Emperor Octavian after the battle of Actium. He married 10 women and killed most of the Hasmonaean royal family (of which he was a member) and virtually any Jew that opposed his government. He even proceeded to kill even his dearly beloved wife Mariamne of the Hasmonaean line and his two sons she had borne him. By these acts of bloodshed, and especially by his love and imitation of Roman customs and institutions and by the burdensome taxes imposed upon his subjects, he so alienated the Jews that he was unable to regain their favour while living even though he mastered a splendid restoration of the Jewish temple and other acts of munificence.


In Matthew 2 we see Herod as one who would "seek the child (Jesus) to destroy him" (v.13) and one who ordered the murder of Jewish children under the age of 2 when the wise men didn't come back to him (v.16)


It's obvious that Herod WAS NOT the King of the Jews although he gladly assumed that leadership. Powerful people (people drunk with their power) do what people in power do...self indulge and follow their emotions. We already know that Barack will resist the church and fight ON BEHALF OF the gay agenda if elected, but what makes this profound is that Planned Parenthood also gives Sen. Barack Obama a 100% rating...

WHAT?

PLANNED PARENTHOOD???

WHAT'S THAT ALL ABOUT???

Well, this is the same Planned Parenthood under which 500,000 African-American babies are killed EVERY YEAR in the United States. The same Planned Parenthood that currently encourages 1,452 black baby deaths EVERY DAY in the United States. Senator Barack Obama has a 100% Rating (out of 100) from the same organization that since 1973 has been responsible for the DEATH of almost 13 MILLION BLACK BABIES in the United States under the guise of the "legal right"of abortion.

CONSIDER THIS

• Since 1973 in the African-American community 203,695 people have died of AIDS
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 1,638,350 people have died of CANCER
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 2,266,789 people have died of HEART DISEASE
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 13,000,000 (13 MILLION) people or (BABIES) HAVE BEEN KILLED under the guise of abortion aka a woman's right to choose.

The greatest Civil Rights Leader of all time, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said this:

"Any success achieved at the expense of our children is no success."

It would seem that modern success is at the expense of our children, and their destruction and abuse is the order of the day. I'm glad that Jesus had a much better understanding of the future and what it would take to please God:

Mark 10:14-16~ "But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them."

Black children in particular are being sought for destruction and unfortunately our babies are unable to fend for themselves but they are vital to the future survival of America and the African-American ethnicity in particular.

BUT WHERE IS THE CHURCH?

Seekin' "Mo-Money", Being Driven by Their Purpose, Runnin' After Their Destiny, and Falling Hook, Line & Sinker For Gay Singers, Uninformed Preachers and False Prophets(esseses- whatever!)

Herod thought that if he painted a beautiful enough picture that he would gain the peoples confidence, love and eventual respect. He built a temple so grand that years after his death that Jews had forgotten about his overt sins and magnified the work of his hands and were enamoured so much that they repeatedly called the temple Herod's Temple. They even were upset that Jesus foretold of the Temple's destruction and even analogized the superiority of HIS Temple (body) to that built by the hands of men (Mt. 24:1-3, Mk. 13:1-2, Mt. 26:61-62, John 2:18-21)

Ephes. 5:15-18~ "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"

The church has become enamoured and seemingly drunken by it's ability to grow in popularity, expand in worldly attachments and commitments, commercialize in functionality and add sheer numbers by direct mail, TV and media positioning and popular marketing strategies. All of this has been done at the expense of preaching the TRUE Gospel. Well, to drive the point home, even my church, The Grand Ole Church Of God In Christ, has become subject to this. (By the way, I ain't leavin' you'll have to kick me out if you really want me to go) A large Jurisdiction recently opened it's doors to Barack Obama and his campaign on the back of political promises and popularity while many of my fellow Brethern and Sistern sat SILENTLY giving endorsement to all of what you've read on this page.

No I don't think that Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ or Herod "reincarnated" or whatever post-modern thought would lead individuals to believe. I am hoping that those of us who are spiritual would see the greater problems that are looming and know what we are really dealing with.

Ephes. 6:11~"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Although, the "domino effect" of poor education, poverty, social injustice, drug addiction, and economic and racial disparity has certainly ravaged our communities, there yet remains no substitute or excuse for responsible behavior and most importantly, a sincere commitment to God and dedication to HIS word NOT political leaders.

Psalms 119:105 ~ "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

What we're talking about is influence. Who's influence shall we be under as we seek to ask God for a deliverance for HIS church and the people of our communities? Will it be the influence of Man or the influence of the True and Living God?

Galations 3:1a~ "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth,..."

Galations 5:7-9~ "Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump"

Yes I agree, this is CHANGE, but can we as a church say YES WE CAN to this mess? Maybe we should all ask Pastor Donnie M. before we attempt to say anything. I'm sure he'll tell us the truth.

Personally, I'll follow the late, great, and Sainted Bishop C.H. Mason on this one and ONLY say YES LORD!

One of the most controversial and divisive subjects among ministers, especially in the African-American community, is the election of the next president of the United States and more specifically the endorsement or non-endorsement of self proclaimed "progressive" Senator Barack Obama.

Christian conservatives and fundamentalists such as James Dobson of Focus On The Family, have said, “I think [Obama is] deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view, his own confused theology” (Focus on the Family Broadcast). Regarding Senator Obama's political strategies, Dr. Dobson also stated, “And if I [Referring to Senator Obama] can’t get everyone to agree with me, it is undemocratic to try to pass legislation that I find offensive to the Scripture. That is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution” (Focus on the Family Broadcast).

Then both Bishop T.D. Jakes and Pastor Rick Warren have been Driven to Purposefully Reposition Themselves and endorse Obama hands down. (Or should I say "Hands Up")

So as we can see there is a firestorm of controversy. On one side, we know we all need CHANGE. Gas prices at all time highs, a war with seemingly no end in sight, a deflating dollar and families under financial siege. Then we also suspect that a terrorist attack is responsible for bacteria infested tomatoes which are suddenly NOT the source of the bacterial infestation at least according to the FDA.

Then there are a host of moral and ethical issues. California and Massachusetts who have ordained homosexual unions and marriages, right in Canada's back yard. Just in case you didn't know, Canadian authorities now consider preaching against homosexuality a crime. Yes, we need CHANGE.

But as I said in my prior prior post, Baracking The Gay Agenda, Can we really say yes to this change? At what price must we have CHANGE? Now don't think for a minute that I am providing any sort of endorsement for John McCain. (or any candidate for that matter)

I have many of the same or similar sentiments as the late Former Presiding Bishop Of The Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Dr. G.E. Patterson who said,

"The Republican, religious right is for every human right except when it comes to the rights of leveling the the playing field of racial equality and seriously addressing the issues of the minority community."

All of this is especially interesting because of what is taking place in the background. On a recent radio show of Janet Parshall's America Mrs. Parshall exposed the current plans of Planned Parenthood to endorse a worthy candidate with over $10 Million Dollars of support.

Now this is the same Planned Parenthood that receives most of it's funding through tax dollars, who gives Senator Barack Obama a 100% Presidential candidate rating (endorsement), has through it's first President, Margaret Sanger, likened children in the African-American community to "human weeds" (This was during their Negro Project in 1939, a statement which by the way, which has never been retracted) and continues to contribute to the decline and population control of Black America. I've stated these facts before, but for those new to this site or just passing by, this is worth restating:

• Under Planned Parenthood 500,000 African-American babies are killed EVERY YEAR in the United States.
• Under Planned Parenthood 1,452 black baby deaths EVERY DAY in the United States.
• Since 1973 Planned Parenthood has been responsible for the DEATH of almost 13 MILLION BLACK BABIES in the United States under the guise of the "legal right"of abortion.

These are additional facts:

• Since 1973 in the African-American community 203,695 people have died of AIDS
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 1,638,350 people have died of CANCER
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 2,266,789 people have died of HEART DISEASE
• Since 1973 in the African-American community 13,000,000 (13 MILLION) people or (BABIES) HAVE BEEN KILLED under the guise of abortion aka a woman's right to choose.

Because of the rampant social problems including separation of the family by incarceration, and substandard public education, and the inefficacy of the church, the Black community has been devastated. Current statistics confirm that the African-American community is not replenishing it's population as quickly as is necessary to maintain its status as the largest minority group within America. According to census projections and statistical data, the African-American population will continue to decrease for quite some time. In other words, the Black community's annual death rate now meets or exceeds it's annual birth rate. Premature deliveries and miscarriages have increased among African-American women, because abortion has been used as a method of birth control so regularly that the bodies can't handle wanted or desired pregnancies. Abstinence education even within many conservative churches has taken a back seat to condom distribution, holy-hip hop gatherings and other youth activities that insight the flesh. Additionally, based on the various reports that I have read, by 2010, African-Americans are expected to officially be the SECOND largest minority group in the USA.

Now, as of Tuesday July 1st, Senator Obama has committed to expanding President Bush's "Faith Based Initiatives" and asking the community church to focus on the poor and needy in a greater way. He promises to do this if elected with certain unnamed "restrictions" on hiring policies etc.

What is the PRICE for that CHANGE?

I'm sure those "restrictions" will take form in a requirement that institutions of "faith" expand homosexual rights and employment practices without a doubt. Why should we expect differently? Senator Obama has consistently suggested that the church is out of tune with regard to it's message against homosexuality. This is a statement from one of his appearances within the last 12 months,

"I am not willing to have the state deny American citizens a civil union that confers equivalent rights on such basic matters as hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the people they love are of the same sex – nor am I willing to accept a reading of the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be more defining of Christianity than the sermon on the mount." ~ Sen. Barack H. Obama

For those confused about the subject please go to our study on Homosexuality & The New Testament for a biblical review of what Senator Obama says is "obscure line" in the bible regarding this. Either way, to assume that an agenda has not already been set may be fatal for America and further devastating to the the African-American community in particular.

Can we expect to CHANGE the CHANGER?

Many of the ministers I've spoken to assume that we can "make Obama do what we want him to once he's elected". Is that right? Can we expect to CHANGE such a strong willed person, who overcame the obstacle of an atheist father, spiritually lethargic parents, a part racist grandmother, and a church that taught black nationalism "without his knowledge" for over 20 years.

In Obama's 2006 speech, A Call To Renewal delivered in Washington, DC. the Senator addressed many issues and laid out his thoughts as to the roll of religion in both politics and public life. Although I don't intend to impugn him with any of his comments, (no more than he has already impugned himself) there were more than a few things worth noting.

As he discussed Dr. Alan Keys assertions in 2004 that he (Obama) wasn't representing his "Christian values" in his politics, Senator Obama responded as follows:

"But what they didn't understand, however, was that I had to take Mr. Keyes seriously, for he claimed to speak for my religion, and my God. He claimed knowledge of certain truths. [Referring To Keys] Mr. Obama says he's a Christian, he was saying, and yet he supports a lifestyle that the Bible calls an abomination. Mr. Obama says he's a Christian, but supports the destruction of innocent and sacred life. And so what would my supporters have me say? How should I respond? Should I say that a literalist reading of the Bible was folly? Should I say that Mr. Keyes, who is a Roman Catholic, should ignore the teachings of the Pope?"

Now we are at least aware that Senator Obama does not take the bible literally. Then how is his understanding determined? Based on his subjective methodological interpretations or some other standard? These questions are at least worth finding out. So far as the intent to bring religious issues to the forefront, Senator Obama couldn't be more clear:

"...and I think it's time that we join a serious debate about how to reconcile faith with our modern, pluralistic democracy."

Pluralism? Have we asked the effect of pluralism in religion? That's where it seems to be going. Senator Obama also wants to make sure that alternate voices on religion are given a change to proliferate their message:

"Because when we ignore the debate about what it means to be a good Christian or Muslim or Jew; when we discuss religion only in the negative sense of where or how it should not be practiced, rather than in the positive sense of what it tells us about our obligations towards one another; when we shy away from religious venues and religious broadcasts because we assume that we will be unwelcome - others will fill the vacuum, those with the most insular views of faith, or those who cynically use religion to justify partisan ends. In other words, if we don't reach out to evangelical Christians and other religious Americans and tell them what we stand for, then the Jerry Falwells and Pat Robertsons and Alan Keyeses will continue to hold sway."

This reminds me of the current skeptical teachings regarding the Council Of Nicea on May 20th 325 AD. It is said that the only reason that Christianity exists today and that Jesus is hailed as Lord is because the Council, through Emperor Constantine, snuffed out all opposing voices and made Christianity the official religion of Rome.(This whole argument and more are refuted HERE.) This is the same strategy that Senator Obama takes, by encouraging opposing voices to engage those who hold traditional Christian values so that their "insular views" won't rule the day.

Maybe this strategy gives insight into why Senator Obama would ask Donnie McClurkin to join his campaign tour, only to disassociate himself from Donnie's message of homosexual freedom and deliverance and upstage him later by allowing a homosexual minister to engage the crowd preaching the message of inclusion.---Next thing you know, Donnie is spread all over the internet rumored as a STILL practicing homosexual. All I want to know is what Donnie's opinion is....But strangely enough as it is...I haven't heard from Donnie yet...Have you? I would like to know.

Then this may be the ultimate conflict:

"I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church or evoke God's will. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.
Now this is going to be difficult for some who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, as many evangelicals do. But in a pluralistic democracy, we have no choice. Politics depends on our ability to persuade each other of common aims based on a common reality. It involves the compromise, the art of what's possible. At some fundamental level, religion does not allow for compromise. It's the art of the impossible. If God has spoken, then followers are expected to live up to God's edicts, regardless of the consequences. To base one's life on such uncompromising commitments may be sublime, but to base our policy making on such commitments would be a dangerous thing."

It remains to be seen, but one thing I know, ministers are as divided today as the country was along party lines in the Bush-Gore election. Maybe we should go back to really seeking Jesus instead of seeking the "next great wonder". Maybe we should renew our roots of telling the truth and holiness instead of seeking political association and position. We would be wise to remind ourselves of what scripture teaches about this "pluralism"

James 3:1 ~ "My brethern be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation."

Compromise by any other name smells just as sweet. Disservice to Jesus is disservice to Jesus plain and simple.

Joshua 24:14-15 ~ "Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

This week President Barack Obama stated this about the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and the American relationship with Canada:

Almost a year ago, we have featured Dr. Charles McVety on our blog in the post "When Canadian Freedom Meets Canadian Censorship". At the time we noted that Dr. McVety was speaking out against the proliferating gay agenda in Canada which seems to be growing at the direction and under the protection of the state and governmental authority. Dr. McVety has been censured by the Canadian broadcasters for speaking against a proposed new school based agenda claiming that there were six genders among humans. Dr. McVety said this:

Congratulations To Our First Black President...Let's Talk

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for the 44th President of The United States Of America, President Elect Barack Obama. Not only is President Elect Obama the soon to be 44th President but he is also the First Black person ever in United States history to hold the top political office.

I wish that I could stop there, and simply relish in an accomplishment for which there is no political parallel in the United States.

I wish that I could take the time and encourage all Americans that the United States is still the land of opportunity and that anyone can achieve and strive toward their goal and have success.

I wish that I could stop and simply say that the prayers of generations of individuals and people oppressed have been answered and fulfilled completely and that God in HIS good pleasure has exalted a person that shares the belief and dedication to the same God of the Bible that we know that sustained a race of people tossed to and fro for generations.

Unfortunately, I can take the time to do and say those things like I would like to, because if there is anything that this election has exposed, it is the weakness, misfocus and misdirection of the church at large and the African-American church in particular.

As a minister, this is my primary focus. As a Pastor, placing perspective on current events in light of the word of God is my charge. As a watchman on the wall, looking out beyond common foresight and beneath the surface of superficiality is my burden and gift.

In these days President Elect Obama will have the opportunity to speak to many of the mega-ministries that helped proliferate his success. Although I have no great congregation, or national presence or command of thousands, I am very involved in my family, church and everyday matters of my community. If I were able to speak to President Elect Obama, and if he were to take time with a small grass-roots minister such as me, I'm sure that we would discuss many things. There are a few things however, that have been disconcerting to both myself and many others over this election cycle and period. I probably would not enumerate all things, for fear of sounding like a pessimist, but I would begin with things that are of utter importance to the survival and welfare of America and in particular the Black Community of which the President Elect is a product.

I would do these things because God has called me to do so. In addition, I am at a loss because I have not heard the largest church organizations address you directly on any of the points that I would mention. Unfortunately I have not heard the mega-ministers such as Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, Eddie Long, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer, Marilyn Hickey, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Charles E. Blake, Rod Parsley and or others address these issues with you during this campaign or otherwise. I have not heard organizations such as The National Baptist Convention, The Church Of God In Christ, The Pentecostal Assemblies Of The World, The Methodist Church, The AME Church, The CME Church, The Higher Ground Assemblies, The Assemblies Of God or other organizations with their leaders address you, challenge you and require that you set forth a clear agenda in these areas. Such areas of initial interest include:

Gay Marriage & Civil Unions:

I would begin by reminding the President Elect that although he has consistently stated that he does not feel that it is in the country's best interest to deny rights of civility upon same sex couples, I would remind you that in our system of representative government that you are constrained and must further listen to the consensus of the People Of The United States.

The people have spoken in during this election in over 7 states and have said that WE DO NOT WISH TO CONFER LEGAL AND MARITAL RIGHTS UPON SAME SEX COUPLES. Although this is challenging and contrary to your platform of gay inclusion, it cannot go without notice that much of your debate was fashioned around what the American people would decide that is right for themselves without CATERING TO SPECIAL INTEREST. We were already confident of the Bible's clear message in both the Old and New Testaments against the practice and sanctioning of homosexuality and same gender unions. Now, the American people have spoken through secular process that they do not wish to be brought under the domination and curse of practices that effect their children, schools and even existing marriages and family structures.

It is my reminder to President Elect Obama that we do not want you to change your fundamental approach by reversing tide and catering to the special interest of the homosexual lobby in the guise of civil rights. Not only would this be disingenuous to your understanding of societal laws and norms but, as persons of color, we should be highly offended at such an attempt to reconcile sexual preference with the color of skin or nationality. Further, the people have spoken that we reject the homosexual lobby's attempt to indoctrinate our children with gender bending psychology and realignment of traditional family values. those traditional values have proven to be the success of America and certainly pleasing to the God of the Bible.

To add further clarity to this argument it should be noted that according to WorldNetDailyNews.com on the same day in which you were exalted to the highest political office in the land, that American Citizens in Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin have all adopted amendments to their States Constitution banning and prohibiting the recognition of gay marriages as an acceptable way of life or an American value. This is in addition to the pending ban by the state of Arizona, the additional 27 states that have already amended their States Constitutions to protect the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, and the pending reversal of the activist actions of the California Supreme Court who violated the will of California's American Citizens and imposed their morality upon the entire state.

SignonSanDiego.com reports that "In the five months since the state Supreme Court tossed out an earlier ban on same-sex marriage ban approved by California voters eight years ago, about 18,000 couples have been married."..."Spending for and against the amendment has reached $74 million, making it the most expensive social-issues campaign in U.S. history and the most expensive campaign this year outside the race for the White House. A large share of the contributions for the measure came from members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

In other words the Mormons were the greatest financial contributors to the fight AGAINST gay marriage in California. THANK YOU LATTER DAY SAINTS FOR STANDING WHEN OTHERS REFUSED TO STAND.

Abortion And A Right To Life:

President Elect Obama, another circumstance that you have been consistent with, is your stance on abortion and abortion rights. While you were a Senator in Illinois you sided in every instance with abortion advocacy groups and even choose to to embrace the most vile form of abortion called Partial Birth Abortion. It is thoroughly documented that you were so firm in your belief that you refused to make an exclusion for the medical care of a child who survived abortion, leaving that living, and breathing child to die in the most inhumane manner ever imaginable.

At Saddleback Church, during this hard fought campaign Pastor Rick Warren asked you at what point does a baby receive human rights? You responded by saying this:

• "Well, you know, I think that whether you're looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade." Senator (Now President Elect) Barack Obama at Saddleback Church 8/17/2008.

I would simply point out that NOTHING IS ABOVE YOUR PAY GRADE FROM THIS POINT ON, and Pastor Warren's question deserves a clear, and straight forward answer from you. In fact I want you to look at this picture and tell me and our fellow American Citizens when and at what point did your beautiful daughters Malia and Sasha obtain their human rights? Did they have rights and were you protecting of them as humans as soon as you and the soon to be Fist Lady, Michelle Obama found out that she was pregnant with them, or did they ONLY have rights after they were born?

This is a question that I not only want to know but that your daughters and every American young person and adult must hear and know in order to rationalize your past, and know what to expect from you in the future.

I would like to stop there for a minute just to say that although all of America, has been devastated with the bad science and ultimate results of Roe v. Wade, that the community to which you are inextricably attached has suffered the most.

You see, I believe you already know that the Black community has suffered to the tune of 13 Million lost lives since that dreadful decision in 1973, and because of our lack of education, we currently kill our children at the altar of the Pro-Abortionist Lobby to the tune of 1,450 children per day. This has decreased not only the tax base of America in general, but it has reversed the Black population's ability to advance itself in numbers. In fact, it has been said, that the effect of this plague is so devastating that the death rate within the black population will exceed the birth rate for the first time in history in the near future. This translates to an enormous and insurmountable loss of human potential in solving societal problems, tax revenues to sustain our economy, and earnings potential to enrich families of a communities yet struggling from high unemployment and social injustices.

There is much more that I would like to discuss including the phenomenal incarceration rates of young black men that in states such as New Mexico exceed 33% of the black male populous. I would like to talk about the rise in HIV and other STD's among young Black Women in particular, I would talk about the failed education system that is unfortunately run from government central (which it should not be) and that has left our children behind educationally with an inability to compete for jobs in a global economy.

But most importantly President Elect Obama, I would like to remind you that the church belongs to God. It is neither your or mine but it is HIS and HE is the only one that directs it. The church is not meant to be ruled by current or popular opinion or entry or exit polls. It is solely governed by God and HIS WORD. That's why I would remind you of this statement, so we could discuss it and put proper perspective on it:

"Moreover, given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers. And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson's, or Al Sharpton's? Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? There is a long list of individuals who forgot exactly who was in charge down through history. From the Pharaohs, to Sennacherib, to Nebuchadnezzar, to Alexander to Antiochus Epiphanies, to Nero, to Napoleon, Karl Marx, to Joseph Stalin, to Hitler to even others that name themselves political and quasi-spiritual leaders, none of their efforts stood against God or HIS church. Please affirm that you will stand with the church and not against the hand and the power of the one who is mightier than all of the Presidents, Kings and Kingdoms of this world both past present and future...The Lord God Almighty himself:

Revelation 2:12-17 ~ "12-And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13-I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. 14-But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15-So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16-Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17-He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it."
