"Confessions" Of Juanita Bynum II, The Law Of Attraction & Devaluing God

On Juanita Bynum's "Inspirational Vitamin, The Power Of Purpose" on V 103 Radio of Atl. she made the startling confession that she has done it all including lesbianism.
Juanita II at V 103
“I’ve been there and I’ve done it all, I’ve [done] the drugs. I’ve been with men. I’ve been with women.” “It’s not a line, it’s my life!”...“That abuse that I suffered was because I attracted after my own kind. That abuse was already sitting in me.”
Now some are up in arms because Juanita so readily and easily admitted that she experimented with lesbianism throughout what she calls her many "conversions". Yes, this is strange and should be alarming. but the truth is that every "sinner" doesn't sin the same and we all know that Juanita has long had a mental challenge that was made worse when her marriage to Bishop Thomas Weeks II was destroyed.

There is no way that anyone could think that this lady was thinking with a full deck when she changed her name and showed up to her birthday celebration in her wedding gown and with a sword in hand...FYI: Juanita was far gone at that point and all most of her fans wanted to know was when she was going to next preach so that  they could receive some type of prophecy or to help make a conference budget if they were the sponsor. Y'u-know, they wanted to know when Juanita was going to be able to help make one of those $300,000 to $500,000 offering nights. Plain and simple Juanita was and still is a "cash cau" in many places and in many circumstances.

The Blame Game

I have previously been critical of Juanita and many things she has done and said. However, recently, I claimed was that Juanita was not all to blame for what we see now and that she had been victimized by more than Thomas Weeks III. Although many were even more critical of her than I, some even calling her a Jezebel, I can't seem to justify downing what I see as a victim even though she believes in $5,000 pens, and has done her fair share of victimization herself.

Most of the time when I bring these things up, the response is that, "She is to blame for her own actions". While that is true, and I don't mean to imply that she is somehow absolved for all the wrong and confusion that she has willingly imposed upon the Body of Christ, I know that there are going to be plenty of others who will also have to give an account for how they used this lady to fulfill their own ""purpose" and "destiny" while failing and avoiding to minister to her and help her get right and stay right.

We can think of a short list of people who's "system of accountability" may be held accountable as well. Persons such as Zachery Tims, and even Whitney Houston, won't soon be forgotten, but neither will their associates, many pastors, bishops and "leaders" who were held powerless in the face of addictions and addictive behavior. Yes, Juanita will stand for her own deeds, but others may also have to stand for what was given to them to do that they failed to do or for what they were in a powerless position to do anything about or against.

Lk. 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

The Real Problem

The real problem as I see it, is Juanita's cavalier acceptance of the Nu Wave Religion inspired Universal Law Of Attraction and her audiences inability to see anything wrong with what she is saying aside from her lesbianism commentary.

The Law Of Attraction

After being hailed by secular gurus such as Rhonda Byrne in "The Secret" as a driving principle of the universe, the Universal Law of Attraction has been rehearsed by everyone from hip hop moguls such as Russell Simmons who claims that it is the driving force behind his success, to some of the more visible TV ministries such as Joyce Meyer, Mark Chironna and Creflo Dollar, to name a few, who claim that a person receives what they "think" in their hearts and that nothing good will happen without a "positive confession".

This is how the law of attraction works...you think evil, or if evil is on the inside, then the result is that evil is drawn to you and you become victimized.  By your inward thought sand disposition, not only is your reality created or realized, but the "blessings" you need are drawn to you, but be careful, because if there is something wrong, curses will be drawn to you as well.

Joe Vitale & Larry King
Agnostic Larry King was surprised to learn from "The Secret" (the movie) Joe Vitale, that 9 year old Jessica Lunsford was ultimately responsible for her own kidnapping, rape and eventual murder because this universal "law" is inescapable even for an innocent 9 year old. In the interview, Joe was adamant, that the universal law of attraction was responsible for all that happens to to every human being in life, even towards what happens to innocent children who are molested and murdered....ie: Jessica brought her rape, torture and murder upon herself.
Jessica Lundsford
Then we all remember Law of Attraction guru, James Arthur Ray and his "sweatlodge" which was supposedly the place designed to delve into changing thoughts that would eventually help believers attract the worlds power and wealth. Willing participants paid in excess of $10,000 for a week of verbal and mental abuse. In the end 3 people died and 19 others were hospitalized, and Ray was given a slap on the wrist and sentenced to three two-year prison sentences, to be served concurrently, was ordered to pay $57,514 in restitution to the families of the victims and a fine of $20,000 plus an 84 % surcharge, totaling $36,800. Not only was justice not served but Ray's attorney's have recently filed an appeal claiming that his rights were violated???? I'd say that is true...he had a RIGHT to ROT IN PRISON for LIFE!!!
James A. Ray's
Murderous Sweat-Lodge

Then there's the infamous top guru of them all, Tony "Firewalker" Robbins with his book "Unleash The Power Within" built upon in the Universal Law Of Attraction. According to NBC Nightly News, Robbins was sued by 21 people who experienced 2nd degree burns after attenmpting his staple, "firewalk over hot coals." As he did with Oprah Winfrey, Robbins usually tries to pump up his audience to make them believe they can do anything, basing his success on being able to train and harness the power of the mind.

Exalting Meta-Spiritual Philosophy

Juanita stated that she "attracted after her own kind". This, I don't believe, was a reference to her homosexuality/lesbianism as much as it is a reference to her spiritual disposition. This was a reference toward the driving force behind much of the trouble that she has experienced. In other words, it seems that she was saying that if her "thinking" was correct, or if she had put out the right "vibe" she would not have experienced her troubles, because her troubles would not have been drawn to her. Now we can understand that people can put out signals to draw what they want to themselves, but that is not a spiritually driven mystery. That is a natural process and natural effort to do what one wants to do and to draw the type of persons to themselves that they want in their lives. What Juanita is talking about is a meta-spiritual reality. This is similar to witchcraft and spell casting, only the person may not know that the spell they cast is proceeding from within themselves and or affecting their surroundings and activating the Universal Law of Attraction.

Firewalking
What has really been done when one thinks like this? In short, God is eliminated and a man made philosophy, eastern religious principle and ungodly and non-biblical thought process is exalted to the status of god. The "principle" is responsible for blessing and all that happens. The true God is diminished, while the god of flesh and self rises.

This is a sad state of affairs. When those within the church think and apply personal circumstances and scripture to imitate the world, we know that they can't possibly be walking in the light. Their vision is obscured.

Luke 9:33-3633-And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. 34-While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35-And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 36-And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

Noone  and nothing deserves praise and worship on a level with or close to a level with Jesus.

Conclusion

Some of us make excuses for Juanita because they love her so. That is certainly good and well. However, those that lover her, to the point that they don't believe that anything she does or says is wrong, should at the same time and by the same token, seek the Lord for their own deliverance and come out from under the spell of fleshly seduction. Seek to save your own life from destruction and replace the god of flesh with the true and living savior and God of the bible.

As we said before, Juanita, we are praying for you, not to continue as you are, but for a real, tangible and significant deliverance. We believe God, NOT the law of attraction.

Blessed!

  1. thank you so much for writing this! It's so true that we can't find "the law of attraction" in scripture. It's no "gospel" at all!

  2. What's up Marcus?

'Tis true. This has nothing to do with the gospel. In fact it is opposite the gospel message.

With the gospel, dependence is upon Christ, his message and the power of God. With this, dependence is upon man, flesh and what man can either imagine or think.

God is greater than all those things.

They say, "as a man thinketh, so is he" Prov. 23:7...but that is taken way out of context when applied to this issue.

Proverbs was basically saying don't be deceived by an evil person bearing gifts. If his/her heart isn't changed, then you should watch your back, because he/she will do the evil that is in their hearts to do.

That scripture has nothing at all to do with thinking positively and receiving something of value for your thoughts.

    People have seriously mismanaged scripture.

Hey join me on face book in our In Defense Of The Faith forum. We need you there.

    Blessed!

  3. many times when a person gets healed, Jesus would say "your faith has made you whole". But without God you can do nothing (that is why many years after 'The Secret' video, the world is still in an economicy mess)

The law-of-attraction is partly true (like evolution) but mostly mis-understood. Even Job said all his worst fears had come to pass and King Solomon said out of the heart are the issues of life. Paul asked us to think of good things and Moses never carries fearful-people to 'holy-war'. Positive expectation (from a devine sourse), gratitude are all faith.

    The real threat is ethist

  4. When Jesus implies "thy faith hath made thee whole" (Mk. 5:34, Mk. 10:52, Lk. 8:48, Lk. 7:50, Mt. 9:22) among other scriptures, he was not referring to some mystical or metaphysical power or ability of faith itself. Faith has to be "in" something otherwise we don't need God. "Faith" made them whole because that faith was in God ie: the Lord Jesus himself. His works, acts and being.

Jesus said that "I by the finger of God" Lk. 11:20 "cast out demons". GOd was doing the work, not faith itself. The demoniacs at Gadara certainly couldn't exercise faith to any degree, yet they were set free. The man laid at the pool of Bethesda exercised his faith in the "stirring of the waters" but yet was not healed until Jesus told him to rise.

So "faith" in and of itself is NOT a method by which miracles are done. The object of faith must be the right object. This is where the Law of Attraction is only a cheap knock-off of anything that God told us to ascribe to and for. HE is the object and source of miracles and blessings, not a lower source.

The sad part is that real biblical truth is unidentifiable in this culture who has lowered the creator and exalted the creature much more high than he was ever meant to be exalted.
