Hip-Hop, Idolatry & The Church Pt. 26 ~ Strange Fire

Lev. 10:1-2 ~1-And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2-And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Recently I came across the initial episode of "Preachers Of Atlanta" and witnessed a conversation of particular importance as it pertains to the condition and desire of the hip- hop community to influence and expand their reach into church and church worship. 

Led by gospel singer Canton Jones, this particular segment centered around how the church could and should accept various types of music because the church was the only entity in life that does not seem to accommodate personal styles of expression such as hip-hop. Anyone reading this blog knows why that is true, as I have clearly set forth, in my hip-hop series, that hip-hop, in all its forms is incompatible with holiness, because it is more than mere music, it is a lifestyle of the "old man" of sin. The conversation took a dramatic turn however and began to focus on the intersection of worldliness and biblical godliness and purity aka: holiness.

As one can see from the segment of the video, there was rank and utter confusion in the room. Canton Jones did his best to allow LaAndria Johnson to explain her ministry "style". She quickly attributed her distributing cigarettes and condoms during the course of her "ministry" to the leading of the Lord even saying that "God told" her do do such things even saying that God would tell his people to sometimes do "some crazy stuff".

Rom. 10:2 ~ For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

I believe it is just that, the "crazy stuff" that God could potentially tell people like LeAndria to do, that makes the world nervous. Of course anyone that knows scripture can quickly detect that this ("crazy stuff" that LeAndria feels that God is telling her to do) is not true and certainly has nothing to do with God. God is not telling LeAndria to do anything contrary to his word and nature of holiness and righteousness. This is an issue which I have addressed HERE

From that point on, as you witnessed, the conversation devolved quickly into subjectivism. In other words, opinions, especially them of the liberal, were placed on the same platform as the word of God. eg: God's word and his commands, in the minds of some of these, meant no more than an individual's personal opinion. LeAndria claimed that a "liar" and a practicing "homosexual" were to have the same authority or ability to lead God's people as the other. Pastor Hambrick claimed that it was the church's fault that the homosexual did not feel comfortable within the church. In all there was no distinction of what righteousness is nor a defining of  the devastating effects of sin and how SIN. by itself, separates people from both God and men...(fyi: Pastor Swilley's church and family all went down as a result of pastor Swilley's sin ~ yet HE AND THEY managed to blame the demise of the church and the family on the church's inability to accept their sin, rather than the sin itself) All this confusion from so called "church people"!

TIME TO WAKE UP AND GET REAL!!!!

Rom. 12:2 ~ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I find it shameful that individuals such as these and others are confused over how to reach this lost generation. This generation will not be won to Christ with the next dog and pony show that enters town. This generation has the same needs as past and previous generations...THEY NEED TO BE SAVED FROM THEIR SINS...

Being in sin, accepting sin or becoming a sin to win some from sin are only techniques and methods that placate us. These are not commands or directions from God. The believe is to be faithful to to God and His word. Whether popular or not, faithfulness to HIS word is the epitome of the Christian life and lifestyle. 

Certainly we make mistakes along the way. On occasion the best of us even chose sin if but for a time or instance. however, our frailty and weakness DOES NOT allow us to endorse complete lifestyles of sin and sinfulness. 

I pose that this modern generation is philosophically weak and their leaders are only leading them into more deep and greater moral bankruptcy. They are empty as it pertains to knowing the moral implications of their desires and they have believed the lie of "following their hearts" against the truth of scripture that the "heart is desperately wicked and cannot be known". (Jer. 17:9)

The fact is that God NEVER told us to follow our hearts. We are to follow HIS word!

If these men and women represent this generation, we can confidently say that until this generation distinguishes the difference between obeying the command of the Lord and the the command of men, we are destined to see more confusion from the pulpit than ever before over issues such as these. We have been "bought with a price" (1 Cor. 6:20, 7:23) and we are "not our own"! This is why our former life MUST cease along with all of its affections and lusts when we come to HIM. (Gal. 5:24, Rom. 6:8-14)

The complaint over why we can't live like we used to is settled when we come to Christ IF we have surrendered to HIM. Unrighteousness cannot reign with Christ and further he will not allow it to. These leaders are leading into error and it is my prayer that not only will they be restored, but that the folk following them would find and see the light and walk in it as HE is in the light, because that is our only hope.
