Zachery Tims, New York & A Good Name

Prov. 22:1 ~ "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold."

The public may never know what caused the death of Pastor Zachery Tims, what the substance was in his pocket or if the "real" Tims stood up before his death. According to reports over the last couple of weeks, Mr. Tims mother has sued  to withhold information from public records.

While we certainly understand the love of a mother toward her son and the preservation of his memory toward the public and for the benefit of his children; those that followed and supported his ministry deserve to be confronted with the truth. After all, many people contributed to this man's ministry and bought his material with their hard earned money. Many viewed him regularly on TV, and had confidence in his insights.  Zachery appeared in multiple conferences and collected hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in part based on his testimony, portrayed lifestyle and statements of public encouragement. He didn't do this alone. He did this with friends and other mega star Christian ministers some of which have already said that they knew Zachery had problems and certain issues.
"I thought I was the only one who know how unhappy Zach was, how broken he was, how afraid he was if anybody was to see any flaw in him. He tried hard to heal himself, to fix himself,"~ Bishop T. D. Jakes
Mr. Tims family weren't sole contributors toward his perceived success or the lifestyle that he managed to live as one in the service of the Lord. Just as the family

deserves closure, the public that has both observed and supported him does too. We already know what he had on him

Here is the response that one can expect to receive from the New York Medical Examiner's Office when requesting information on Tims and  additional information regarding his death:

The Name & The Life

1 Peter 1:15-16 ~ "15-But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16-Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

It's good to live so that one's name won't be questioned in light of one's death or decisions in life. We live in a time where people don't seem to value their name or what they present to others with the exception of when it comes to profiling or influencing others materialistically.

I say this: If a person doesn't have a dime or popularity, but yet has and maintains integrity, they have helped the world greater than the most wealthy and popular wicked. In the light of the righteous, others can live and flourish. In their memory, others can be blessed and strengthened.

Anyone can make a mistake, but this didn't have to happen to this man. With the exception of his mother, many of those who were most close to him seem to have been merely image managers. Then there were many innocent and god fearing individuals who's plans were thwarted and who's hopes were dashed as a result of this man's failure and now the silence regarding the failure.

Conclusion

Many people simply write this off to controversy, stating that all popular persons have a certain amount of controversy that centers around them. Jesus was controversial. Yet he was holy and perfect in life and in him there was "no guile". Many say, "well that was Jesus"...This was not limited to Jesus however. Even one of his disciples received a similar report from the Lord himself:

John 1:47 ~ "Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"

Nathanael was a man. What's more, when Jesus made these statements regarding him, he was a man that only had the law as a guide and no inward witness of the Holy Ghost. Controversy has nothing to do with this issue. What's wrong with those of us who believe we have received it all,  whether at the cross or as a result of the Pentecostal or baptismal experience? These are those that believe we are better now, than we could have been back then, but yet where is the life to support the belief? Do our leaders now walk and live without guile being found in them? When your pastor, bishop or your favorite prophet cusses you out, you'll know the answer!

For those inquiring to the Medical Examiner's office, this is all that will be sent or said until a ruling is made on or after Nov. 23rd 2011. Even after that time, one can't get a clear and unfettered understanding without having the approval of a family member. I certainly won't spend my Thanksgiving worried about it, but just as they are coming out with information that is damaging to the memory or perception that we have of Martin Luther King, it is simply good to live in truth, because truth inspires freedom.

"New York...what you do here...stays here, even when you die!"

Blessed!

  2. It was said that Juanita Bynum II (or the first version) was a money maker on the conference circuit.

She was a ticket to about $250,000 to $300,000 per event in which she was the speaker.

Jakes is similar but he charges $50,000 up front.

So here we have it...How much did Tims demand on the circuit? Probably no less than $10,000, but probably brought in about $100,000 per event.

This is what has these preachers on the circuit moving constantly and not being or getting delivered. Some figure if you cover it up with enough money you can get endorsements from the local hosts and create a win-win for both you and the church or conference, only the minister that doesn't get delivered is the looser in the end.

Sad state of affairs, but it's what the church has become. A money making machine.

  3. Hey Pastor Burnett,

Great article, I actually predicted this would happen after Tim's death that with enough money the powdery substance in his pocket would be considered "baby powder."

When my husband and I discuss this topic church folks get really upset calling us "judgemental" and saying that whatever we're doing in secret will come out (whatever that is). My question for you is how can we address the saints about this issue without making them upset? We know Pastors that were posting how Tims was a "great man of God" and yet they know exactly how he died because they knew him personally.

I don't want to make people angry but I do want to address all this "cover up" stuff that goes on in the church. People could really get delivered and set free if they know the truth. Tim's Mom doesn't know that by telling the truth about her son many could get delivered.

I don't know, i'd really like your opinion.

    God Bless

  4. Ashley,

I think you and hubby are right on point!

Look, I've come to the conclusion that our people love their idols more than they love God. idols shouldn't be in the mix, but unfortunately they are.

When one speaks against their idols, then automatically they revert to stupidity like "you need to watch yourself, because you don't want God to bring out your mess"...This is absurd and STUPID rhetoric.

This is psychospiritual manipulation. the same type of manipulation that allowed Jim Jones to get so deep as to tell people to drink poison, lay down and die. It allowed father Divine to make quadruple profits in Harlem when he told the people not to purchase goods and services at white businesses (while he gave his profits to his White wife)-LOL!!!

I mean my goodness- excuse me for ranting a little bit- but this is ridiculous.

So what should you do? I say continue telling the truth and continue making a difference. How can people see the light when all they see is darkness? darkness has NEVER put out light in history...so the light of Christ in you can't waiver.

So far as his mother is concerned, I say the same things sistah. The concern for the people who bought into this man's ministry is greater than the need to be hush-hush...Some people built their life philosophy on this man's teaching. What this is an opportunity to do, is reaffirm what was right and separate it from what was wrong and ultimately leading to his destruction.

The critic has it TOTALLY wrong if they think this is all about exonerating or denigrating Tims character...He has gone into judgement and has received his reward...it's about those that remain building upon a right, sound and solid foundation and living in the fear of the Lord for HIS reward as opposed to living to impress men or mankind.

GOd simply WILL NOT have any other gods before HIM...even if their name is HARVEY BURNETT!
