Special Reverence To General Board Member Sedgwick Daniels

The last announcement of the 115th Annual Holy Convocation of the Church Of God In Christ, was a very heavy one indeed...

With all honor and respect, Supt. Harvey Burnett, The Dunamis Word & the Saints and Friends Of The New Bethel COGIC yield in humble reverence to the transitioning into glory of Church Of God In Christ General Board Member/ Pastor and Christian leader, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels.

An extraordinary Servant of Christ, we will certainly miss his "COGIC Minute" and we all thank God that we were blessed to share and his his ministry gift. May the Lord forever bless the memory of The Right Reverend Bishop Sedgwick Daniels.

  1. Just for discussion. He was never married. Rumors had it that he was gay. In that way, He was not qualified to be a bishop - not the husband of one wife, neither was he blameless. I say this with no disrespect, just that we really need to do things according to scriptures, In that way we will not err, but will be obedient. I am never a proponent of ex-drug dealers, ex pimps, ex-alcoholics, ex-child molesters et al becoming bishops. I do feel that these "exs" can become saved and do ministry, just not in a leadership position. I know Paul had a past. He was one of those "exs". But remember Jesus called Paul. With us in the churches, we as brothers and sisters get to choose our leaders. "Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business." And you know us as people, we don't near the discernment and wisdom as our all-wise Lord Jesus. I just think that there are men out there that have "good report" even before they are saved. This part should be taken heavily into consideration when chosing a bishol. Not men of ill-reputation. Just my 2 cents. What do you think?

    1. GLory&Honor, GLAD to hear from you again and how all is well and has been well with you!

Rumors can be vicious. I have met Daniels when I was under the Late Bishop Sanders of Il. 3rd Jurisdiction. I can't speak to this man's sexuality etc. I can say this however, there are some folk struggling with their sexual nature that DO NOT practice or proceed within the sin that they are "vexed" with. Then there are others that simply yield their life to their sin and don't care what anyone else thinks. Or some do their do on the Down Low, knowing that it is a sin or sinful acts. I believe the Bible is clear on all there of these categories of people...Sin proceeds from within the heart of the individual. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he...A person who is vexed with this sin, knows that it is wrong, but manages to subdue the flesh is in a wholly different category than one who yields themselves to sinful and evil acts. I don't know if this was the Bishop's struggle, so I don't condemn him in any way.

Now, the Late Bishop J D Husband, back in the day, WAS a homosexual and pederest (PEDOPHILE). He destroyed people's lives while preaching "Drunk on the ever of reconstruction". I personally met him as well under the late Bishop Dr. TT Rose of Illinois Central Jurisdiction. It took all the Bishop James (Mr. Clean) White had to keep that jurisdiction from total collapse and to rebuild the church's reputation after they allowed a known homosexual to hold one of the highest offices in the church. So these are two wholly different cases as I see it.

    2. So far as crossing the bridge...I believe it matters from what condition...I certainly don't believe the now saved, once pedophile, should be placed into a position of responsibility over children after meeting Christ. Or the once money launderer and bank robber, should be unattended over church finances...Some bridges you cross demand a higher diligence going forward.

However, to say that GOd can't use one who has a changed nature, is a move t far for me also. Paul was murderous and everyone knew hi for that, but his life was used to bring life to the church and believers everywhere.

So thanks and great commentary. Blessings.
