The ACLC Redefining "Love" To Suit The New Apostasy

ACLC Logo
Other Unification Logos HERE
Ecumenism has long been a part of the landscape among Christian churches and non-christian organizations. This is an effort to rally around certain issues that will ultimately be beneficial to the community in which these ministries are a part of.

Ecumenism can be good. It is good to work together on projects that effect the well-being of the community and individuals living within the community and the world. However, ecumenism at its heart is the effort to rally around truth. The problem is that it can go terribly wrong when non-biblical and even anti-Christ sentiments are introduced, mixed and combined with Christian dogmas and thoughts under the guise of "love, compassion" "tolerance" and "understanding". Thus the trap of ecumenism is revealed. Tolerance is extolled at the expense of truth.  Gospel truth is always minimized as simply being "another path" to reach the overall objective of the so called movement. Terms are redefined to fit the need of a fruitful understanding to all individuals. Therefore, many ecumenical gatherings quickly dissolve into cultic styled movements, with no true underlying objective truth along with an overt emphasis placed on humanistic definitions of love and acceptance. Soon, those that don't agree are hailed as being intolerant or unloving. The need to compromise truth was never so clear than at the recent gathering of the Midwest ACLC (American Clergy Leadership Conference) 2011 Prayer Breakfast in Chicago, IL. on May 17th, when Minister Louis Farrakhan was called upon to address the group as he does on an almost annual basis. (2010 and 2008)

Before we get into some of the more controversial encouragements of Minister Farrakhan (which I have decided to table until Pt. 2 of this article is presented ~ stay tuned it was truly amazing!), I want to briefly take a look at the purpose of the ACLC, and most specifically examine some of the foundational teachings and beliefs of it's chief founder. From what I can see, those two things will allow us to see the real intent of the ACLC and the resultant damage that we can expect from it.

Todd Bentley ~ "Wild Fire"

Leviticus 10:1-2 ~ "1-And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2-And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD."

What Is This?

Critic, please don't get it twisted. This IS NOT Pentecostalism.  Its certainly not holiness unto the Lord either.

Blessed!

Let's Talk "Theodicy"...Is God Yet Good With All This Suffering?

For thousands of years this has been a watershed question of religious and Christian experience. Can evil be reconciled with a God that is good or any God at all that cares about those whom he has created? In many debates best selling author and atheist, Christopher Hitchens, exposed what he felt was the greatest proof against the existence of God by building upon what is called the "Epicurean Paradox" or the problem of evil and suffering in the present world. It was stated by Epicurus like this:
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" ~ Epicurus
Here is how an inductive version of it could be set forth:
  • An omnipotent and benevolent God would not allow evil to exist in the world.
  • Evil exists in the world
  • Therefore God does not exist.
Now there are many problems with the argument as often set forth by atheists and nonbelievers. So it has been modified over the years in effort to make it as intellectually fulfilling as it appears to be on the surface. A modification would go generally like this:
  • The Christian proposes that God is both omniscient and  maximally good
  • An omniscient and maximally good God would eradicate evil
  • Evil exists
  • Therefore, God does not exist
At either rate the object is to draw a sharp contrast between what Christians teach as the good and loving nature of God, to the existence of evil and suffering in the world.

The Imposition Of Homosexual Marital Morality & COGIC Silence

Psalms 11:3 ~ "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do"
 Senator Dianne Feinstein
"Family law has traditionally been the preserve of state law. The single exception is the Defense of Marriage Act, (DOMA)""This is not a cause which we are going to drop. We are not faint hearts about this." ~ Senator Dianne Feinstein
Saying that "it's time to right a wrong" and that "This bill will ensure that all married couples in the United States enjoy equal protection of our laws." While the country is distracted by being on the brink of financial ruin, Senator Dianne Feinstein has spearheaded a congressional effort to repeal The Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA) by introducing a bill designed to scrap it and the concept that it is constitutional to believe that marriage is solely and exclusively between one man and one woman all together.

Marriage, the first institution of God, has consistently been under attack. Inward pressure causes marriages of  all ethics, Christian and non Christian, to end in divorce at a rate of 50%. The current economy places additional and sincere stresses on the marital relationship in general creating financial rifts which is the number one cause of all divorce.

With all of that said, the external pressure against "traditional" marriage, marriage between one man and one woman, has seemingly never been greater. Gay marriage is being promoted as a human right by world councils, at least 6 states within the United States,   New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, and New Hampshire and The District Of Columbia have made gay marriage the law, and in other states, such as Illinois, civil unions are now legal and the law of the land. On the other hand, at the time of this writing, 29 states have constitutional bans on gay marriage and 12 states have laws against it.

Mary, Mary, Forgiveness & Restoration

Essence Online presented a statement regarding forgiveness from the Sunday Best judges, none other than the dynamic gospel music duo Mary Mary (Erica & Tina Campbell). Here is what they said:

"Forgiven Me" is my theme song. It really is! I’m harder on myself than I could ever be on others and I need a lot of forgiveness – so I’ve got to constantly remember that when I confess, God forgives. If I’ve hurt someone, broken someone’s heart, made a bad decision, failed to keep a promise -- I’m always sick about it. I can beat myself up for a long time over a mistake I’ve made, so I have to keep preaching to myself, “Tina, God forgave that one. Let it go.”
Of course, whatever I can “naturally” remedy, I do; apologizing, confessing to the person I’ve wounded, but there’s a part of the forgiveness equation that only God can do. And I’m so thankful that He’s faithful to forgive me, when I come up short. God says we’re to forgive others “seventy times seven” in the same generous, not-keeping-score kind of way. But too many times we say we believe God forgave us, and then we refuse to forgive ourselves! Do you see how wrong that is? Listen, if God can forgive me, then I must forgive myself. I can’t keep dragging up the past. If I truly believe the Word of God, which says, “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus," then you are cool.

You know what eventually happens when we hold and rehearse past sins and mistakes? We convince ourselves that we deserve to live a miserable life -- that no one’s going to love us, that nothing’s going to go our way, and that God will never bless us again. You see what’s wrong with that kind of attitude, don’t you? It completely counts out God’s grace! Sure, it’s good to claim your mistake. Own it. Say, “Yes, I did that. I committed the crime. I told the lie. I hurt innocent people. I hurt myself.” Then, do what Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to do -- the one caught in broad daylight and dragged out onto the street to be stoned for her sin. Go and sin no more. And then agree with God and forgive yourself.

Credit Default, Idolatry & Obsession

What's On The Dollar?

What do you see on this one dollar bill? The number 13 and groups of 13 dominates it. Triangles and inverted pyramids are prevalent. The all seeing eye (aka: The Eye Of Horus or the Eye Of The Phoenix) of the Illuminati stands between the Latin words "Annuit" and "Coeptis" which means "Announcing Our Enterprise". That eye also sits above another Latin phrase "Novus Ordo Seclorum" which literally translates as "New Order World" or what we would understand to be "New World Order", right above the words "The Great Seal" Many theorists believe that this is a call to life without God or life where there is no need for God, especially the God of the bible.

Eschatology & Anti-Christ Speculations Pt. 1

One of the things that false prophet Harold Camping did was brought to light the underworld of biblical positions regarding Christian eschatology. Some have taken advantage of the climate presenting highly questionable and particularly strained eschatological positions as if they were "revelatory" in nature. In other words some folk are preaching bad eschatology as if God has suddenly revealed something new or something unheard of within Christianity. The other problem is just simply bad doctrine and a misapplication of fact.

Wikipedia maintains that the word eschatology comes from the Greek word meaning "last" and "study": ἔσχατος, last; and λογία, lit. discourse and  is the study of the end of things, whether the end of an individual life, the end of the age, or the end of the present world and beginning of the World to Come, from a Christian perspective.

Understanding Christian eschatology is a complicated subject and one that revolves around what is called the apocalyptic literature of Daniel, Zechariah, Revelation to name a few books, and many of the apocalyptic sayings of Jesus contained within the gospels.

Pornography & Freedom ~ "Love Comes With Correction"

Don't Forget These New Radio Casts:
Sexual Addiction & Freedom Pt. 1
Sexual Addiction & Freedom Pt. 2

Pastor Justin Cox of Passion4ChristMovement conducted an interview with former porn video performer Danielle Williams in which Ms. Williams explained how the Lord delivered her through the personal devastation of being an unwanted child, sexual abuse at age 8, rape at age 12, a miscarriage at age 13, prostitution and stripping by age 16, stardom in over 50 porn movies by the age of 18 and a struggle for her very life by the age of 19.

Watch as Ms. Williams exposes the pornography industry for not only it's rank deception, but for it's physical abuse of both men and women and its abundant medical dangers that lurk just beneath the surface. In response to popular speculations, with no punches pulled, Ms. Williams boldly describes why Christians should not ever support the pornography industry in any manner either through the purchase or rental of videos or by accessing content over the internet.

Ms. Williams further describes how her faithful attendance to one of the largest churches on the west coast even during the time that she was engaging in prostitution, stripping and pornography, was ineffective in delivering conviction of heart, due to the ministry's "motivational" message and failure to define sin and preach that hell was a reality in exchange for ungodly behavior. Ms. Williams summed up the Love of God and how she was able to be free by stating that "Love comes with correction".  Ms. Williams can be found on Facebook, as she demonstrates the power of God in her deliverance by preaching the gospel and telling her testimony to all them that will hear.

My Life in the Porn Industry from p4cm on Vimeo.

Update: 11/18/2011 ~ Former porn actress known as Jazmine Cashmere has also committed her life to Christ and left the industry behind. Here is part of a recent correspondence to my office after our inquiry:
"...I can ensure you that my departure from the adult industry is a permanent one. God has blessed me so much in these past few years that I enjoy nothing more than praising Him. I thank Him for keeping a covering over me even while I was absent from Him and would never shame Him or my family by moving backwards. My family and I are doing well and I have been doing my best to show my children that their mother is more than my past. Over the past year I have chose to delete my Facebook page. I enjoy the encouragement but needed to filter from all of the noise to hear God's voice rather than what others had suggested for my future endeavors. God is still working on me but I am humbly submitted to whatever He shall have me take on. I guess we will all need to stay posted for that. As for the adult industry I do pray for it and the people caught in it often. I lost a lot of "friends" when I left it behind. However, those same people have never left my heart. I do understand the game, I was once lost in it."
What we can say is THANK GOD for new additions to the Christian family and Kingdom of Christ!

If You Struggle With Sexual Addiction:

Many Christians struggle with addiction to pornography for one reason or another. Sister Williams also introduced the fact that some get into this industry because of addictions to material wealth and the trick of the enemy. There are no boundaries and it is not a "fair game" when it comes to sexual struggle and addictions. Things like this used to be perceived as a struggle for men only, but in fact, current reports indicate that women are among the fastest growing group dealing with this and other sexual strongholds.

Whether male or female, whether one is considering becoming a performer for financial reasons, peer pressure already in the industry  or an avid or occasional viewer of pornography, or a participant in other devastating sexual sins, the root of the problem stems from lonliness, isolation and low self value issues which are only reinforced by this monster known as pornography and sexual addiction.

What you should know is that Christians are not insulated from any of these struggles and in fact suffer greater because of the contradiction, secrecy, and ultimate shame experienced by simultaneously engaging in pornography and serving the Lord. However, You Can Be Free!

First: Repent of the sin of pornography and break all ties with it. (2 Chron. 7:14) Remember the gratification that many of the actors and actresses display is only an illusion which deceives the mind into believing that everything is OK. (2 Cor. 10:5) Many of the actors and actresses have a great amount of fear and trepidation about their physical health and well being even on the set. Get away from those who promote porn, push porn and even tempt you with it. (1 Cor. 15:33)

2 Cor. 6:14-1814-Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15-And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16-And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17-Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18-And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. "

A marital relationship is not an excuse to experiment with the limits of porn, or the new thing in may Christian circles, sexually oriented toys and sexual aids. The bed is undefiled in so much as it is used in accordance with God's word and in respect and honor for one another. Pornography can and will hang around for a lifetime if you allow it to exist. It must die so that you and Christ in you can live. (Col. 3:5)

Second: Commit your way and even your desires to the Lord. (Ps. 119:9) Some desires you didn't obtain on your own. (Ps. 51:5) They were given to you by the invasion and intrusion of others that may have taken advantage of you. In cases where sex was introduced by abuse, desires were given that can haunt and individual for a lifetime. The Lord knows this and is willing and able to lift the burden, guilt and shame associated with the heavy laden placed upon you.(Mt. 11:28)

Third: Engage in an open dialogue regarding the issue with someone (preferably two to three individuals) of spiritual maturity and spiritual accountability. Open rebuke is better than the secret love of pornography (Prov. 27:5) and in the multitude of councilors there is safety.(Prov. 24:6) The stronghold of sexual addiction is often weakened if not destroyed when the light of openess and truth shines into the darkness. (John 1:5) Become accountable for both your time commitments and whereabouts. Time which cannot be accounted for is usually a sign of trouble.

Fourth: Contrary to the encouragements of many internet advisers to run from an organized body of believers, become part of a healthy body of believers and receive the word of God on a regular basis.(Heb. 10:25)  This body of believers will encourage fasting and prayer and a faithful commitment to the word of the Lord as well as the opportunity to develop and grow and fellowship in the Lord.

Conclusion:

However and whatever led an individual into pornography or other sexual deviance, does not have to define or be be the end of the individual. God can create a renewed and bright beginning. If you need help and don't know where to begin, contact this ministry, I'll do my best to help or make referrals to them who can. Feel free to email me at Dunamis1@netzero.com. The Kingdom is getting ready and we won't be held down by anything; for nothing (not even sexual addiction and pornography) and no one can stand against Christ!

Blessed!

Gold Chains, Crosses, Rings & Missions. A Call To COGIC Bishops

In my recent post, "Calling Out To ALL COGIC Bishops" I challenged the Bishops of The Church Of God In Christ, Inc. Mem. TN. to take courage and stand up in effort to renew the church and the rich heritage that has made our communities better and souls and families enriched over the years. Thankfully, I am not alone in my call and prayer for this great organization.

To my complete and utter joy, I received a copy of  a letter recently sent to the Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake. This letter was approximately 27 pages in length and was sent from a veteran and well seasoned  Bishop of the church. His name is Bishop Samuel P. Nesbitt, Pastor of Church Of God In Christ Temple in Jacksonville, FL. Bishop Nesbitt is an 87 years young son of COGIC pioneers Bishop & Mrs. W.R. Nesbitt Sr. He has served the church in administrative capacities since 1945  and endured the administrative transition of 1968 when power was taken from the Late Bishop O.T. Jones sole authority and given to a Presiding Bishop and General Board. Bishop Nesbitt is currently the retiring Chief Justice of the Church Of God In Christ Judiciary Board, which is one of the administrative arms of the Church Of God in Christ Inc.

Falling Towers Coming Down Pt. 2

As Continued From Falling Towers Coming Down Pt. 1
Gulfstream G650 $58.5 Million in 2012
Necessary For Preacher Luxury and Ministerial Performance
In modern times, Pastors and leaders are commended, praised and held in high esteem because they have personal and private jets and expensive cars as opposed to having personal and public commitments to the well being of the body of believers. The member, overwhelmingly of low to moderate income, is pumped and primed to give so that they can be blessed. Then certain expenditures present themselves so that the giving can be seen and made known. For the extremely opulent "ministries" on the other hand, spending what is given is sometimes directed toward the acquisition of private jets, Bahama vacations, luxury automobiles or some other personal cause, which is almost expected by and from some in leadership. For some it's the equivalent of executive privilege because mistakenly, some think that they "are" the church or that they are "the ministry". Only where is that outlined within the bible? What is the biblical mandate, endorsement or approval for such status.

"I need To Take This Trip To Win Souls"

One other thing, then I'll move on because many of my preacher friends get uncomfortable talking about these sort of things: I've heard of more and more pastors and leaders who supposedly go on "missions trips" without their spouses and families. These trips are almost never to places like Bosnia, Croatia or Antartica. They are almost always to places like the Bahamas and Jamaica. What makes it even worse is that many times these pastors only take certain selected members from the church along with them. (Does that remind you of anyone in the news recently?) Nonetheless, in most of these cases all expenses are paid by the church without question. Under normal circumstances that wouldn't be a bad thing, however what we are witnessing is flat out usury and pimpery among some of the leaders facilitated by the natural entity or the physical church itself.

In Memory Of Bishop J.O. Patterson Jr.

Supt. Harvey Burnett and the Dunamis Word pauses to pay tribute to the passing of General Assembly Chairman Bishop J.O. Patterson Jr. (5/1935 ~ 6/2011). The Bishop was the grandson of the late Bishop C.H. Mason, founder of the Church Of God In Christ, and son of the former Presiding Bishop J.O. Patterson Sr. He was also the cousin of the former Presiding Bishop G. E. Patterson. The Bishop was not able to recover from a heart attack suffered on Father's Day 2011

Not only did Bishop Patterson have a tangible record of community service, serving in many of Memphis's political roles, he also made history by becoming the first Black Mayor of Memphis.

Within the Church Of God In Christ, Bishop J.O. Patterson Jr. was Chairman of The General Assembly. The General Assembly is the only legislative authority within the church empowered to establish rule of doctrine and practice for the national church. It's membership consists of COGIC members and certain other delegates.  This Assembly is of vital importance to the church especially now and we are praying that the right individual will be appointed as replacement for such an important time as this.

The Call For Bishop Eddie Long To Repent?

In a stark contrast to Bishop T.D. Jakes who said that there is nothing that can be done regarding Eddie Long except prayer (and we know that prayer is always in order), and that he along with everyone else just needs "the blood of Jesus" while pointing to his "blood bucket" both for himself and others to cover all of our sins; Bishop Paul S. Morton, however has joined many of us in calling for Bishop Eddie Long to repent regarding the recent sex and ethical scandal that has enveloped and threatens to destroy his ministry. Here's a recent message regarding the issue:

Surprisingly, ministers such as Creflo Dollar have stated that Bishop Long simply had a "wreck" and that he should keep on moving and everybody should go home because in essence, like a Keystone cop, "there's nothing to see here". Bishop T.D. Jakes assesses the situation as a "recent tragedy" and that Bishop Long is under a great amount of "scruitiny". This is language that certainly softens the emphasis of what has really happened and doesn't really point toward repentance of any kind.

Ministry Leader Calls On COGIC Leadership To Withdraw UDHR Endorsement

Elder D. L. Foster
GCMWatch.com

"I'm still calling on Bishop Charles Blake to undo the incalculable damage he has done and repudiate COGIC's involvement in the ungodly UDHR. The Church should NEVER partner with demons to do the work of the Lord. Bishop Blake caused great harm to come to the church by the partnership. Bishop Mason brought us out from among them and Bishop Blake is taking us back in." ~ Elder D.L. Foster

In 2008 The Presiding Bishop of The Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Charles E. Blake, vicariously ascribed over 12,000 member churches to the endorsement of the United Nations document called The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights. As I have stated in previous posts, that endorsement seemed to be church leadership's way of joining with the "human rights" movement that is seemingly sweeping the nation and the world under the guise of making the world a better and more humane place to live and ultimately relieving oppression where oppression exists. There is nothing wrong with wanting relief from oppression, but please read on, because there are quite a few things wrong with this.

Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake
Church Of God In Christ Inc.
There were a number of problems with the Bishop's endorsement of this document, not to mention that it (the endorsement) was both presented and approved retroactively by the general church and that was done under the auspences that the church needed to galvanize because it was under an internet attack primarily promoted by Elder D. L. Foster and GCMWatch.com.

The real problem however, was that the same document endorsed by a Pentecostal/Holiness leader was being used to promote homosexual rights and most specifically the proposed right of homosexual marital recognition. A Church Of God In Christ endorsement of this document brought the church to quite an uncomfortable if not flat out contradictory position of endorsing something publicaly that it also holds a specific and public position against.

Now, in 2011, without a doubt, and with the approval of the majority member nations, the United Nations considers that document (the UDHR) to be a firm standard exalting the struggle for homosexual marriage to the level of a "human right" that member nations and ascribees are compelled to rally around and in favor of if they truly endorse the document.

The Warning & The Excuse

This conundrum that the church now faces did not go without ample and thorough warning. Upon hearing the news of Bishop Blake's endorsement, vicariously aligning all member churches, including my own, with this decision, there was a campaign to warn him and the church against what has proven to be a very bad decision.  Elder D. L. Foster led the charge calling to question the moves taken by Bishop Blake. Those posts can be found HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE

Let's reexamine some of the reasons that were given to overlook the warnings that were raised regarding this document and its use to promote the homosexual agenda (from my previous post "Are 'Human Rights', Gay Rights?"):

The Apologists

When explaining his involvement in the 2008 trip delivering Bishop Blake's endorsement, Dr. David Hall responded partially as follows:
Dr. David A Hall ~ Presiding Bishop’s Emmissary to the Editor/Publisher of Whole Truth Magazine CEO of COGIC Publishing House
"The Hague group had no other agenda than the signing of a declaration that would speak to religious organizations and inspire them to decisively eliminate those fanatical influences over their practitioners. Religion must never be used as a source for intolerance, hatred, and terror."..." The writer (Referring To GCMWatch) erroneously said the human rights document was about gay rights and gay marriage. Read the document for yourself! There is not one line explicitly or implicitly mentioning gay marriage or gay rights. gay rights." pg. 15
"With God as my witness, not one person spoke about homosexuality and its issues. In fact to my knowledge I never saw one item with a homosexual emphasis." pg. 16

Now we know that the document did not need to specifically mention homosexual marriage to inspire and support homosexual marriage. We also know now that the document will be used from this point forward as a support in the struggle for homosexual marriage and the establishment of laws all over the world to affirm homosexual marriage.
The Reverend Oscar Owens ~Director of Christian Education West Angeles COGIC
"Bishop Blake’s endorsement of “the Faith in Human Rights” statement is not an endorsement of gay marriage, absolutely not! The “Faith in Human Rights” document does not refer to gay marriage or gay rights at all, implicitly or explicitly. It does not imply an affirmation of gay marriage, not at all. The “Faith in Human Rights” document was developed to bring world religious leaders together to affirm the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights which was written 60 years ago." -pg.17
"In 1948, gay marriage was not part of the conversation; on the contrary, this was the time of the affirmation of the traditional, nuclear family in America." -pg. 17
"Furthermore, the document that Bishop Blake is a signatory to is the “Faith in Human Rights” document. Neither does the “Faith in Human Rights” document refer to or affirm gay marriage." -pg. 18
In 2011 gay marriage IS part of the conversation of what constitutes a human right. In 2008 the Document was being used by all parties to conclude that gay marriage was a human rights issue. Reading the words of the document caused these men to misread what the document was saying and what the document meant and they did so in an evangelistic manner, only their evangelism wasn't for truth but for the lie of humanism.
The Reverend Eugene Rivers ~Senior Advisor to the Presiding Bishop
"The Church of God in Christ does not endorse, support or in any way affirm any religion, any spiritual beliefs or positions that are not in accordance with biblical Christianity. In signing the Faith in Human Rights declaration we in no way enter a religious union with any religion or spiritual teaching which is contrary to biblical standards. We nevertheless believe that in the proper context interfaith dialogue that can promote justice and freedom for the oppressed and poor is important for us as Christians who are called to live in the world, even as we are not of the world. (Matt 25:31-46)." pg. 19
"Therefore for the Christian homosexual marriage is not a human right, nor a morally and legally sanctioned entitlement. Sexual preferences do not constitute rights...pg. 20
"The Church of God in Christ supports human rights: all humans, as God’s creation, are entitled to adequate education and healthcare, a living wage, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, democracy, life, liberty, freedom from slavery, security, right to own property, the right to vote….But gay marriage is not a human right; it is a preference. Sexual orientation is specifically not mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights regarding marriage and family."-Pg. 20
"And nothing in the Universal Declaration or in the Faith in Human Rights Statement supports gay marriage. By endorsing the statement we affirmed what the Civil Rights Movement affirmed, what America affirms, and what the gospel of Jesus Christ affirms: life and liberty, healthcare and education, a living wage and freedom of speech." pg. 21
Although homosexual marriage may not be a human right for the "Christian" it is now a human right according to the UDHR and all statements attached to it. Once again, reading the document without reading its meaning and what the document was used for, has led us to an ultimate contradiction. A contradiction based on what we desire to affirm as right actions and behavior and who we align ourselves with in the process.
Dr. Paul Alexander, Ph. D. ~Professor, Theology and Ethics Director, Doctor of Ministry Program The Haggard Graduate School of Theology Azusa-Pacific University
"Gay marriage is not a human right." -pg. 21
"I support human rights – education, healthcare, a living wage, freedom of assembly, democracy, life, liberty, freedom from slavery, security, right to own property, the right to vote…. But gay marriage is not a human right. Sexual orientation is specifically not mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights regarding marriage and family."-pg. 21
"As Christians, we believe that the family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and should be protected. As a Christian, I do not support gay marriage. And NOTHING IN THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OR IN THE FAITH IN HUMAN RIGHTS STATEMENT SUPPORTS GAY MARRIAGE. By endorsing the statement we affirmed what the Civil Rights Movement affirmed, what America affirms, and what the gospel of Jesus Christ affirms: life and liberty, healthcare and education, a living wage and freedom of speech." -pg. 21
Reading these statements it becomes evidently clear that none of these men understood the use of the UDHR neither in 2008 nor in 2009 when this finally came to light and was addressed. It is painfully clear that one cannot make the UDHR mean something other than it is meant to mean. The document is defined by those who wrote it, those who handle it those who promote it, and those who amend it. It is now clear that the document, by majority decision of member nations means what it says and can be firmly used to support arguments for gay marriage.

The UDHR, that Bishop Blake endorsed in 2008 and that was approved by COGIC at large in 2009 endorses among other things,  gay marriage specifically stating that it (gay marriage) is a human right.

Will Bishop Charles E. Blake and the Church Of God In Christ Inc. Memphis, TN, finally withdraw the national church endorsement from this document? It remains to be seen, but I for one, join with Elder D. L. Foster in calling for Bishop Blake to undo the damage done to this church, by being aligned with a document that only strengthens the homosexual rights agenda. This document is now a clear basis for the promotion of what scripture defines as an abomination.

This Elder can only hope that our leadership will respond in the most reasonable manner possible, withdrawing the document, while affirming human rights that are Christ centered.

Where Are We Going Wrong In The Gospel Music Industry?

Recently, Pastor Donnie McClurkin hosted a discussion with Pastors Andre Crouch (Sandra Crouch too), Pastor Marvin Sapp, and Pastor Kim Burrell on TBN. Note that the question was pretty simple and straight forward:

"Where are we going wrong in the (Gospel) music industry?"

Aside from the laughter the question generated among the audience and the refusal of the Pastors to initiate the conversation, and Sandra saying that she doesn't like to talk about what's going wrong...

Donnie said it's about "honoring God" and "not imitating"...OK, does that mean producing videos wearing pink lipstick as men, or producing so called gospel videos in lingerie

Could you guys be a little more specific please? The church and the world would like to know. Was the question ever answered?

Falling Towers Coming Down Pt. 1

Matthew 16:15-19 ~"15-He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16-And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17-And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18-And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19-And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven"

Frank Viola, in his response to Dr. Ben Witherington over Ben's review of his book, "Reimagining Church", stated the following on pg. 4 pt. 9 of his rebuttal:
"The main point of all of this, of course, is my contention that the church is a spiritual organism and not a human organization."
While Frank's books are certainly on my personal wish list, I couldn't help but conclude that although the gates of hell will not prevail against it, the "spiritual organism" known as the church, in it's modern form and under its modern composition,  is sick, afflicted, in pain and in serious trouble. If I were a Doctor I would send it home for a permanent vacation and bed rest. My reasoning is because what is currently transpiring in the body of Christ is nothing less than an epidemic.

First, as Frank states, the modern church is being built inversely of scripture. No matter the organizational affilliation, it has become a top-down or hierarchical entity. At the local level there is a considerable amount of  pressure placed on a single leader, usually the Pastor, to perform in an almost a superhuman manner. Balancing business acumen with social skills, all while finding time to give himself to God, and seek and deliver a word. Unfortunately even that word has been reduced to more of a motivational speech as many modern pastors do not preach against sin and have even reverted to calling themselves "Life Coaches".

The UN Declares "Homosexual Rights" A Human Right

In 2009 Elder D.L. Foster of Gcmwatch.com with me and the Dunamis Word in tow, took a considerable amount of heat and condemnation by calling the actions of Church Of God In Christ Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake into question as he vicariously signed the entire church leadership on to the endorsement of the United Nation's Declaration Of Human Rights.

In the multiple articles done on the issue, both of us pointed out the fact that although the Declaration Of Human Rights did not say homosexual nor did it outline homosexual behavior as a "human right" it had been and was currently being used as a support for homosexual marriage and gay civil unions all over the world and in the United States by homosexual advocacy groups such a The Human Rights Campaign and Lambda Legal and those seeking to overturn PROP 8 in California.

Of course there were all sorts of apologetic fiasco's including a diversion stating that the Grand Ole Church Of God In Christ was simply under a viscous "internet attack" by certain web sites (GCMWatch.com) that were delivering "false information" and "distorting the truth". In fact GCMWatch.com was named specifically in a multiple page rebuttal that was produced by some of the upper eschalon adjuntancy.

Inside Edition: Prosperity Preacher Opulence!

Can you believe this? I had seen this before when it originally aired, but forgot to post it then. It aired again Saturday and I couldn't resist.

K. Copeland: "My lifestyle follows the scripture..."
K. Copeland: "We give, we believe...we're open?"

IE: You have a fleet of private jets. Why is that necessary, you're a minister. How many private jets do you have?"

K. Copeland: "That...is none of your business."

Well, in response they say what should preachers preach..."Poverty"

I simply say how about preaching THE GOSPEL,  and how about exemplifying that with a holy life and a lifestyle given to serving the people instead of being served and having attitudes like Rock Stars.

Strategy: How about either getting paid a percentage of annual church revenues, or an average percentage of income of congregants? You'll still receive expense allowances too, but that may keep you from looking silly and saying ..."We're Open?" like you're a McDonalds or a Walmart. Please!

Is Smile...A Celebration Of Gay???

Now, could someone please tell me why this man is wearing pink lipstick? Is this camera sensitivity or a camera trick?
Then there's former gay, Donnie McClurkin and I stand corrected, this is T.J. Holmes another CNN anchor. I don't think he's gay however.
Question yet stands, what is this...a Gay festival?

Then who is it that fell from heaven?

"A power from heaven that I can't explain, fell from heaven like a shower".

By the way the background of this video matches the Gay Pride Flag colors that was designed by Gilbert Barker. Is Kirk simply sending a message that Gays have no reason to be discouraged, or is he sending a message of gay inclusion?

I think some answers are in order.

Rihanna ~ "Man Down", BET & Parental Duty

This is the opening part of the new Rihanna "Man Down" video which was originally aired on BET last week. In this part, the character played by Rihanna, kills a man in the response to the man's actions which were revealed in the end of the video which I will post as time allows. In the later part of the video, we discover that the character played by Rhianna, killed the man in response to a rape, or sexual assault. Rihanna claims not only does the video offer a "positive message" for those "like me" , but she also claims that  these type of images empower women who would not otherwise speak up. The question is, is that so and do her assertions have any bearing on reality?

Pt. 2 ~ The reason for the murder (what appears to be rape or sexual abuse)

Rape, Sexual Abuse & A Higher Standard

As I have stated, we understand the seriousness of this issue. Sexual abuse, rape and molestation are not subjects to be minimized or overlooked as being problematic within the secular or church world. The problem, however is vigilantism as portrayed within the video in exchange for the hurt and pain. In this video there is no healing and there is no call to a higher moral standard by anyone, rapist or victim. This video is simply a display of cold and calculating revenge where the realization is that someone has lost control and a mother has lost a son. What is not identified, is that humanity has lost it's value all together.

The Push-back

A group known as the Parents Television Council, along with the public decency advocacy groups called Industry Ears, and  the Enough Is Enough Campaign has deemed the video as inappropriate stating the following:

‘Man Down’ is an inexcusable, shock-only, shoot-and-kill theme song. In my 30 years of viewing BET, I have never witnessed such a cold, calculated execution of murder in primetime. Viacom’s standards and practices department has reached another new low,”...“If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass and BET should know better. The video is far from broadcast worthy,” ~ Paula Porter spokesperson PTC former BET voice
Another PTc representative stated the following regarding the video and it's presentation and ultimately its purpose:

“Rihanna’s personal story and status as a celebrity superstar provided a golden opportunity for the singer to send an important message to female victims of rape and domestic violence. Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the imprimatur of acceptability. The message of the disturbing video could not be more off base,” ~ Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education PTC.
The BET Angle

Rihanna's video premiered on BET, which allows us to further ask does BET even like black people? The reason is that not only does this video provide a controversial response to a very serious subject, the question has been raised does it actually violate the media standards claimed by the Viacom media giant as declared through their CEO of BET , Deborah Lee. Mrs. Lee stated in the following interview that she (BET) had to be the "grown up in the room" in denying opportunities for the airing of certain video imagery deemed inappropriate for television such as material by Kanye West and Ciara and others and particularly the "women" of Hip-Hop fame.

Mrs. Lee, has also vowed to set forth a better image of the Black Community in general in the following interview:

Rihanna's Response

In Response to all of this Rhianna has claimed the following:

"I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!" she wrote early Thursday afternoon. "Cuz we all know how difficult/embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents!... And this is why!Cuz we turn the other cheek! U can't hide your kids from society,or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD!... The music industry isn't exactly Parents R Us! We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they don't turn out like US" ~ Rihanna to critics
Certainly the pain of teh past experiences cannot be denied and Rihanna has not been healed in any sense from her past beyond Chris Brown. The problem is that not only does Rihanna blame parents for not being attentive to their children's needs, she takes absolutely no responsibility for how your child interprets anything that she does or says, whether it is in video or music. In addition she claims that it's the parents job or duty to make sure that your child doesn't turn out "like US", indicating that there are more in the industry messed up like she is.

Question: Does any sane parent need Rihanna to make that pronouncement? Is there any sane parent on the planet who would like their child to aspire to BET imagery or the imagery as seen in the modern entertainment or hip-hop industry?

To me, this all adds up to even more reasons to avoid this industry or any association with it (as in hip-hop gospel) When the industry and artists are only given to money, wealth and fame at the expense of their own audience, and without any responsibility of the message, it's a dangerous and sad day. We've known this all along, but now the artists speak for themselves.

Blessed!

Hip-Hop, Idolatry & The Church Pt. 15

COGIC Mommas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be International Music Ministers. They Just Might Become Inspirational/Secular Singers & Create Videos That Display Their Sexuality!

Pastor Kim Burrell
Does anyone remember this statement?
"I’m dedicated to God, dedicated to ministry. I’m dedicated to the anointing of God that has on my life. I will never, ever compromise that indirectly or directly; and I’m dedicated to the International Music Department"..."But more than anything I fear God, so you have no worries about me doing anything that God is not pleased with. So I love you all so much and hopefully this will suffice for whatever or whoever needs it.” ~ Kim Burrell Feb. 2010
Well at least that's what PASTOR Kim Burrell did, and does. Yes, I said PASTOR. We all know that even pastors wear night clothes and have sexy apparel...but when you joined your church, did you expect to see your pastor in his/her DRAWS and unmentionables, displaying themselves in a sexually provocative manner on video? Well that is exactly what happened in one particular Church Of God In Christ and what is represented among the top leadership of praise and worship presenters in the Church Of God In Christ and we see it. We know what we're looking at and it is a MESS! I appreciate the attention that GCMWatch has brought to the issue.

Watch This Pt. 7..."This Thing, I'm Gon'e Settle!"

In what will be the conclusion of a mini-series and seeming documentary on a form of clergy sexual misconduct, and modern idolatry, the Bishop Eddie Long and his accusers have come to what appears to be an amicable settlement satisfying the unconditional approval of his New Birth,  megachurch faithful and multiple extended followers all around the world.
"I am not gonna try this case in the media. It will be tried in the court of justice and dealt with in the court of justice"..."I've been accused, I'm under attack. I want you to know as I said earlier, I am not a perfect man; but this thing, I'm gon'e fight. And I want you to know one other thing, I feel like David, against Goliath but I got 5 rocks, and I haven't thrown one yet."
Privacy Is The Word

The bishop's words may have indicated "fight" and "court" but in the end, a court-battle was the last thing that the bishop wanted. As stated, the settlement avoided the disclosure of details and greater embarrassment on all sides. It appears to be a sealed affair at this point however, it is hard to tell as final agreements and conditions are being made (more than likely) for an undisclosed monetary amount and a measurable plan of action by either Bishop Long, the ministries involved or all parties. The young men, Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson , who brought the lawsuit may have been successful in their desire to stop Bishop Long from any further future perceived impropriety against others by exposing the bishop, but may have also, at the same time, lost credibility if monetary conditions are the only ones set forth as a result of the agreement.

As stated, we may never know the real requirements on either side of this agreement as it seems that the terms may actually be permanently closed. The lawyer for the plaintiffs B. J. Bernstein simply stated that there would be no commentary:
"...on this matter, now or in the future."
The Man Worship Continues

When we first talked about this story in our podcast, "What Has The Church Become?" I explained that the worshipful nature of how the church received Long especially in light of the scope of the allegations, was disturbing. At the 8:00 AM Service, the crowd cheered and praised him for almost a full 2 minutes and greeted him as if he had conquered the last villain on earth.

The members of New Birth persist in a form of idolatry of the bishop. What we can readily observe is beyond pure support for a member of the Body of Christ. Many of them have entered into a place of unconditional acceptance where there is clearly no standard of accountability required for the bishop. In other words, some of them have basically told the bishop, "we don't care what you do, we'll follow, believe, and support you no matter what!" Neither of these sentiments are biblical, nor do they display the nature or love of God. Yes, God loves unconditionally, but unconditional acceptance breeds responsibility. Where there is no responsibility in response to unconditional love, there is only abuse and excess which will always lead to greater evil.

The failure to understand the requirements of unconditional love is disturbing. Not just for New Birth, but for for all them that seek to define the difference between honoring their leader and standing by their church and worshiping an individual and exalting an individual over and above God, HIS standards and HIS precepts. Much of the commentary about the bishop from his members is almost indiscernible from worship directed toward God himself.

For example, the Atlanta Journal Constitution  reports members to state:

As it pertains to the undisclosed nature of the settlement:
"I'm still steadfast,"..."I know what he's done in my life, and I know what he has done in the lives of others." ~ member Rasheedah Oliver
This sounds like an individual talking about the God of heaven. Unfortunately, this sister is talking about Eddie Long and rationalizing what he has done in her life and done in the lives of others to be the standard by which she is committed to the ministry and ultimately the bishop.  As it pertains to the possible improprieties and scope of the allegations themselves and private settlement, another member stated:
"It doesn't make me think he's guilty or anything,"..."I decided when this came out that I loved my pastor unconditionally. Even if he came out and grabbed the mic and said ‘I'm guilty,' it wouldn't change the way I feel about him. I wouldn't be angry like a lot of people are. You can't walk away after 15 years of being a member of a church."..."He's done 1,000 good things,"..."and he may or may not have done four really bad things." ~ member Kamelya Hinson
Once again, this sister states that it wouldn't matter to her if the bishop told everyone that he was guilty of all charges, she loves him and is attached to him without condition. She further states that no matter the 4 "really bad things" that he has done, he's done an insurmountable number of good things, therefore he and it is OK.

Now, the sad thing is that each of the 4 lawsuits contained over 100 counts of improper, unethical and ungodly behavior by the bishop against his victims. Most of the suits included coersion, misappropriation of funds and even one that claimed that the bishop not only performed oral sex on his victims, but that he also performed oral sodomy. This member skirts by some of the most low-life accusations that could be brought against a person and states that none of that matters, even IF he is guilty and reduces some over 400 counts of impropriety and clergy sexual misconduct to simply "4 bad things"...

This is unbelievable! This is IDOLATRY! This is having another God beside, before, and in the presence of, the ONE AND ONLY God of creation. Without doubt, this is against the word of the Lord God himself as he has outlined not only the 1st Commandment but the entire word of God as God mandates our object of worship to be toward him and him alone.
Isaiah 45: 5-6 ~ "5-I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6-That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else."
Where Is The Time Of Reconciliation And Restoration?
2 Cor. 5:18-19 ~ "18-And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19-To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."
With the seriousness of the accusations against this pastor, which not only alleged ungodly behavior, but revealed severe and pervasive psychological issues for either the accusers (if lying) or the defendant (if accusations are true), one would think that at a very least there would be some time given and an extension for all sides and parties to heal.

What really drives this point home is that obviously, the bishop in his initial response, did not deny the core allegations against his person or ministry. What he certainly did deny was the allegations of sexual abuse and manipulation levied against himself. Remember, that the allegations included the bishop used money and fame to manipulate the environment, flash material possessions to impress, and use his status to gain access to emotions and feelings that were otherwise off limits. The allegations were also that the bishop used his influence, title and position in a manner unbecoming of bishopric and pastoral leaders.

However, the spokesperson for the church simply stated that the decision to settle as opposed to fight in court was made

"to bring closure to this matter and to allow us to move forward with the plans God has for this ministry." and that "This resolution is the most reasonable road for everyone to travel,"
What this means is that business regarding this was handled like any other business that should be handled to position the ministry to move on to the next grand adventure. Reconciliation and restoration were not goals of the settlement. "Moving forward with plans" was the whole objective. What this also could mean is that there was enough damaging information on both sides of the case that in the end it would more than likely resemble WW III as opposed to a church, a Christian leader and 4 abused and disappointed followers.

Either way, this is certainly much less than God would require of any and or all of us when confronted with this or similar issue.

Conclusion

We are thankful that this ordeal seems to be over, however neither the Body Of Christ, the modern mega church or any of the parties involved, nor members were edified as a result of this case. We were only brought to more of an open shame.

Some say, "why talk about it, let's move on". That sort of sentiment causes them that buy into it, to miss what God is trying to show us. I believe what he is saying is that our Idols are inadequate and anything built and established by flesh and materialism will not and cannot stand judgement of the Lord. Evidently, neither this pastor nor this church and ministry could stand the judgement of men, yet alone the judgement of God. However, believe me, he will judge.

Revelation 20:12-13 ~ 12-And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13-And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works."

Blessed!
