The Days Of Noah. Ham, Canaan, & Nimrod

Hello and BLESSINGS to all the readers and friends of the Dunamis Word blog. Yes, it has been a little while since I have last posted and believe me, you know, all kinds of things are going on both in and out of the church. From the Supreme Court, to the predator in the pulpit, society is in a sin sick, full bloom and if I posted on everything, I would never leave my computer, nor have time to do the many positive and good things I continue to do, which include trying to be the best Pastor that I can be to my church.

However, with all that is said and done, GOD is STILL A GOOD GOD!!! Yes, he is still on the throne and in control of this world and rules over everything and everyone, even them that don't want HIS rule. I am glad to celebrate America's 250th Birthday and Thank God for my place in it all!

I decided to post a recent article that I did on our In Defense Of The Faith Facebook Forum. Recently, God woke me dealing with me about this information and I have been busy studying pulling various tidbits of spiritual food from what he has been giving me.
In the following examination, I look at Noah, Ham, Canaan and Nimrod and the implication of Nimrod's hatred towards God and his desire to exalt himself above God. He thought he had it all figured out. It is clear, Nimrod thought that he was going to lead a new world in rebellion and, if we look at it, he was well on his way to doing so.

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the
coming of the Son of Man.
Mt. 24:37 NIV

The following is what I stated on Facebook:

Let me do some statements of Bible facts because we are not as literate in chronology as we "could" be when it comes to this, and I have recited this wrongly before, which is something I hope not to do here...because it matters...

Let's PROCEED:

According to the Table of Nations, Noah's son Ham had 4 sons...Cush, Phut, Mizraim and Canaan. (Gen. 10:6) Mizraim's name by interpretation is Egypt.

Remember, Ham was Canaan's Father, and Mizraim was Canaan's Brother. Yes, both Canaan and Mizraim were the descendents of Ham (eg: Ham's sons) However it was only Canaan who was cursed by Noah.

Nimrod was Cush's son. Canaan was Nimrod's Nephew.

Nimrod was what the Bible called the first city builder, a "mighty one before the Lord" (Gen. 10:9 ~ Heb: "Gibbor" or Tyrant). These appellations played off of titles used for the Nephilim prior to the flood (Genesis 6:5). This is not a celebratory link. This was a definition of evil. Nimrod was a "mighty hunter before the Lord", (Gen. 10.9). It is further known that Nimrod, whose very name means "rebellion", was ruthless, hated God, and hunted men, similar to the Nephilim that preceded him in death...

Nimrod was a killer, one that seemed to hate his history, only being 2 generations away from the great flood that reshaped the planet...He was a murderer and the first to lead whole nations/city states that he established in hate against God. (ref. Josephus & Talmudic Writings)

It was Nimrod who was the founder of Sumeria, (EXTRA NOT IN ORIGINAL POST: the progenitor of all the "ancient astronaut" myths based on texts incorrectly translated and perpetuated by a non-scholar). Nimrod's influence was the foundation of what would be known as Babylon, Assyria, Nineveh and Mesopotamian city States. Nimrod was the initiator of the rebellion against God to begin the Tower of Babel a Ziggurat to reach God and fight him and the angelic host, as he was the King of Babel (v.10) His false religion infected the religions of his Uncle's descendents the Cushites, and Mizraimites or Egyptians and other burgeoning cultures.

Another Twist

LEGEND has it that Cain, yes Adam's Son, who slew Able, survived the flood and taught Nimrod hatred and rebellion against God. Legendary hypothesis also has it that Gilgamesh, a successor of Nimrod, may have been Cain as well. The fact is that Cain's death is unreported within the Biblical text.

While I don't believe Cain was either Nimrod or GIlgamesh, it is clear that the rebellious and murderous spirit in which Cain moved, was prevalent in Genesis 6, survived the flood, and rose again afterwards through Nimrod to once again infect mankind.

The Great flood, in our archaeological record, is thought to be a result of the Younger Dryas a late Ice Age flood, which wiped out the people who rebelled, and destroyed the Nephilim, but did not rid the Earth of their influence and desire to do evil, because evil is bound in the heart of men and mankind. So when we speak of Egypt, we should remember, that the Cushites and the Mizraimites, appear to be closer, or more at unity than Nimrod and his descendents, but it was the false religion of Nimrod that seemed to have gained strength and facilitated the idolatry that arose in Sumer, Assyria, Egypt and Mesopotamia in general...(In other words, Egyptian folklore and religious practice was a distinct extract from the religious systems introduced by Nimrod, rather than a system that flowed from Egypt to other nations and states.) Canaan Though Cursed, Had A Chance:
In order to understand the eventual cure of Canaan, we cannot do so without examining the mercy and relationship that God had with the Canaanites until they wholly turned against him and aborted any hope of repentance.

God's wrath against Canaan did not come without giving Canaan ample time to repent of her sins. During the 400 years of suffering that Israel endured in Egypt, Canaan had that time to repent, but refused. Canaan's issue was not an issue of lineage or ethnicity. Canaan's issue was an issue of sin, stubborness and rebellion. The ministry and scope of ministry of Melchizedek is one reason we know this to be true.

Melchizedek:

There are 4 trains of thought as to the identity and scope of the works of Melchizedek.

* The first was that he was of Canaanite lineage and heritage, specifically of the Jebusite
lineage. He lived in Jebus, then called "Salem" or "peace", was called the "King of Salem", (Ge. 14:18), did Priestly work, and must have been a man of high repute in his day.

* The second train of thought is contained within Rabbinic traditions of the Jewish Talmud and Midrash, both of which affirm that Melchizedek was actually Shem, the brother of Ham and Japheth.

* The third train of thought is from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Specifically 11Q13 - The Melchizedek Document. This document declares that Melchizedek was a heavenly or angelic figure of righteousness who was a preconfiguration of what would become known as the Messiah and who would fulfill the Messianic promise.

* The fourth train of thought comes directly from the writings of the New Testament (NT) which actually provides a metaphorical relationship between Melchizedek and Jesus. The writer of the NT book of Hebrews builds off of the prophetic utterance found within Psalms 110:4 declaring Jesus to be a Priest "forever after the order of Melchizedek" (Heb. 5)

Terah, Abraham's Father, tried to get to Canaan...It is suspected that he was attempting to see Melchizedek during his life, but never completed the trip and died in Haran. (Gen. 11:32)
Later, when Abraham met Melchizedek, it was therefore easy for him to bow down and honor him with tithe and receive his blessing (Gen. 14:20), possibly because:

1- Melchizedek was the man his father wanted to see,

2- Melchizedek was of excellent character and evidently was so full of righteousness that the whole region honored him, and

3- He (Abram) understood God and knew this was a God encounter with a righteous man (possibly a descendent of Noah (Noah's son Shem) and one who would be a precursor of the "King of the Jews" who would be crucified for our sins aka: JESUS!

Although we do not know the lifespan of Melchizedek, as the NT says his Priesthood would be "forever" through Jesus, the ministry of Melchizedek in Canaan was the foundation for the 400 years that God gave Canaan to repent, (Gen. 15) however, as stated previously, they and the other nations of Canaan rejected God and truth. BACK TO HAM
Why is understanding this important?

Because Ham's lineage was cursed for his acts, (not merely seeing his father naked) but his actions or even possibly for the actions of his son Canaan, and either way bringing shame upon his father Noah.

Talmudic legend says that Ham's issue was trying to diminish the character of his father with mockery and public disclosure (Gen. 9:22) and raping or at the very least, seducing, Noah's wife, his own mother. It was because of these acts, and the utter mockery that was placed upon Noah, a man that God had used to save humanity, Ham's seed, Canaan, was cursed.

Genesis records that Noah, after wakening, knew what his younger son, Ham, specifically his "younger son", had "done unto him". (Gen. 9:24). Two things, first no one knows, as the scripture does not share what, aside from telling his brothers and attempting to make a mockery of him, what Ham actually "did" to Moses. Secondly, based on inferences from the text itself, scholars do not agree that Ham was the "younger son" as in "youngest son" of Ham. If anything, it seems that Ham is the middle child of Noah. This led Origen (185 -234 AD) to conclude that it was Canaan who first saw his Grandfather's nakedness, told his father Ham, and Ham responded with ridicule and disrespect towards his father.

Some scholars assert that the pronouncement of the curse upon Canaan was not an immediate pronouncement by Noah, but one that occurred towards the end of Noah's life in which, according to ANE (Ancient Near Eastern) practices, fathers pronounced blessings upon their children as we see throughout scripture.

There are many inferences that can be drawn from these relationships and stories. As a society, we have not left the foundation of sin in the world even through modern conveniences and scientific discovery. None of these conveniences, inventions or discoveries, have solved mankind's heart condition of rebellion, lust, murder, war and desire to kill and even overtake God.

This is the "mystery Babylon" (Rev. 17:5) that the NT describes that persists to exist even to the end of the world and will ultimately be judged and finally cast down. This is also why Jesus asserts when he returns times and conditions will be similar to the times and conditions of Noah. (Mt. 24:34-39)

The question is, will we hold on to our faith, as the Bible affirms that only them who are able to endure to the end will be saved. (Mt. 10:22)

Is Liberation Theology The Gospel Of Jesus Christ? Pt. 1

The Pope of the Catholic Church recently claimed that the rejection of poor, illegal immigrants into the US was a sin and not in accord with the gospel..

Paul proclaimed that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1:16). However, many within today's church have reduced the Gospel to politics, and social morality defining terms to suit as we see with Catholicism. Is the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ solely a spiritual message? Or is the gospel merely one of "social justice" or material "equilibrium"? How is this discerned and more, how is it applied to our current condition?

Pastor Burnett takes a deep dive into what the Bible says about the subject and why there is yet power in the word of truth which is able to not only save souls but produce life in the lives of believers.

The Unjust Social Justice Of Bishop Talbert Swan II...Things That Make Us Go...Hmmmmm

The Dunamis Word has been at what we do for quite some time. We have answered our call and taken our place to hold up the light of truth against the ever dim and dark culture of both the church and the world.

As I have stated in a previous posts, outside of continuing to encourage my church, the "Grand Ole" Church Of God In Christ, to adopt a true Victim's Advocacy Plan and policy, taking the healing and restoration of survivors of sexual abuse seriously, I am not obsessed in the least with what goes on in this church, or with who is doing what.

But This Caught My Attention...

In 2015, under former Presiding Bishop Charles E Blake, Bishop Talbert Swan II was appointed the leader of COGIC Social Justice and operates through the COGIC Office Of Public Policy. During the 117th Annual Holy Convocation Bishop Swan was seemingly reaffirmed as the head of "Social Justice" by current Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard.

A quick look at his BIO, it is clear to see that Swan is very outspoken on the internet, television appearances, radio, which is not bad, IF he actually represented positions that a holiness church could be proud of.

For example, not only is he the
National Chaplain of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc, a secret society, which, at least in my 40 plus years of being associated with this church, we decried...but he is also one that seems to follow the path of blaming those who see abuse for abuse...I mean he railed against every Youtuber and others who see the inequities they see and discuss it over the internet.

After listening to him and reading some of his commentary on issues invarious forums in which he appears, it is obvious that Swan is a politically left leaning liberal and advocates for positions that most left leaning liberals advocate including railing against MAGA, Conservatism and pro DEI, abortion and many of the more popular socialist and Marxist inspired ideas and values that exist today.

Social Justice...Liberalism vs Conservatism

What we need is a fairness and clear direction as it comes to "Social Justice", since we are evidently seeking to be in that space as a church. We should come to an agreement with an approach that includes both liberal and conservative voices, views and issues because this church does not represent one side of the spectrum of perceived and real "justice" by its racial makeup.
  • Some of us believe that the abortion of babies is unjust...
  • Some of us believe that overlooking them that have suffered at the hands of pedophiles and sexual abuser's within our church is unjust...
  • Some of us believe that the illegal immigration and those that fight for such and against the efforts of ICE and enforcement agents is unjust...
  • Some of us believe that the church's assault and policy to strong-handedly confiscate churches at the death of a Pastor is unjust...
Does our Office of Social Justice exist to advocate for or against for any of those things?  Does COGIC Social Justice represent ALL the church or just part of the church?

Like many, it seems that in his effort to silence those of us who are vocal about what we see within the church, and unafraid to speak to the issues, that Talbert Swan has opened the door for many to take a more close and more meticulous look at him and what he is actually saying to represent the church and those of us who do not agree with many of his positions.

Blessed!

Pastor's Call For National Victim's Advocacy Associates

"Church leadership, the lawsuit says, failed to properly screen associated church leaders for criminal and sexual misconduct. They also failed to institute a system in which victims could file formal complaints
against abusive church members.
"

This was from an article in 2020 that exposed the sexual abuse of a COGIC Pastor(s) in New York. Everyone loves to sound courageous. We are seeking servants of Christ who are looking to do more than sound good. We are not seeking individuals who believe sexual abuse within the church is a matter of "family", or that resolution of the issues should be  "kept it in house". We are seeking them who wish to make a stand for the hurting and ultimately make a difference.

BREAKING:

VICTIM'S ADVOCACY

Supt. Harvey Burnett
IMBKCAC Founder/Director
Pastor Harvey Burnett is currently calling for volunteers to be a part of a national movement in support of survivors of church related sexual abuse.

"It is time to take victim's advocacy to another level and do all that we can to heal the hurting and hold those responsible accountable."

I Am My Brother's Keeper Christian Advocacy Council is seeking saved, spiritually mature and committed men and women (minimum 24 years of age) interested in sexual abuse prevention within the context of the church and in presenting appropriate and proper ministry towards those who have been victimized or suffered church related abuse to assist in helping individuals regain their faith and a sense of normalcy.

LOCATION: We are seeking to create an advocates network of individuals across the country who care about the plight of survivors and who will aid in this cause.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Individuals must be able to pass a background check and sign an NDA (Confidentiality Agreement) due to exchange of sensitive, private and proprietary information.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Can be a part of COGIC, BAPTIST, APOSTOLIC or OTHER CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING A PART OF THIS NATIONWIDE MOVEMENT TO RESTORE THEM WHO HAVE SUFFERED AND BE A PART OF A SOLID PLAN OF PREVENTION AGAINST ABUSE, RAPE AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITHIN THE CHURCH, CONNECT WITH US:

Critical Illness. PROTECT You And Your Family Today

SPONSOR AD

Critical Illness is real. Often when a Pastoral leader receives an adverse diagnosis, or has a bout or life threatening ordeal, the first level of understanding is often denial. After all we're taught, and many of us believe, that God will "protect" his servants from all sickness, and certainly that he will "heal" his anointed.

But what happens when YOU must walk through the "valley of the shadow" of death and experience your own mortality?

In Philippians 2, Paul references Epaphroditus, who was a faithful ministerial servant along with himself, who suffered sickness "close to death"(v.27), along with himself. In other words, the will and service of God did not insulate this man of God nor Paul from suffering illness and serious sickness.

In light of that, why would we think that any of us are insulated or should be insulated from sickness and illness such as cancer, heart attack and stroke?  Further, why do we think that our recitation of the scripture, in absolute terms, cures us by prayers and laying on of hands with 100% healing 100% of the time? Ooh yes, we have FAITH in God and sickness doesn't shake that, but we are human too and all of us will leave this Earth with some sort of scar (sickness and disease).

Questions: How many great leaders did we lose to covid? How many have we lost to stroke, cancer, or heart attack over the years?

For example, prostate cancer is the #2 killer of Black men and does not discriminate between sinners and church folk in general. Heart attack and stroke are similar. Heart disease is the #1 killer of both men and women. Women from ages 20 to 39 suffer heart attack at higher numbers and rates than men according to current statistics. Fact is, these illnesses and diseases happen equally to both church and non-church folk, and more and more evidence is arising that occurrence of these things are associated with diet and lifestyle.

Of course, in most cases, life insurance covers loss of life. But have you considered, how many people survived heart attack, stroke and cancer, but had to seek care that insurance did not cover? How about them with family histories of such chronic and critical illnesses, or genetic markers? This is why critical and chronic illness coverage is essential and could and should be obtained BEFORE these illnesses strike.

What time is it? TIME TO GET OUR HOUSES IN ORDER because although we have no right of demand on this life, we are not going anywhere until GOD is finished with us.

Dunamis Insurance has designed a Pastoral Critical Illness plan that will serve your need at nearly any age without regard to denomination nor church structure. Call DUNAMIS TODAY for a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL no obligation consultation at (800)730-2990 x801 or email at IMBKCAC@gmail.com

Pull Up Peoria...YES, We're Talking REPARATIONS

UPDATED PRESENTATION BELOW:

REPARATIONS PRESENTATION

If you're in the Peoria, Il. area on Sept. 24th, 2022, join me and other community members as we discuss REPARATIONS for descendants of Foundational Black Americans (FBA or Freedmen).

The discussion will center around 4 agenda items:

  • Delineation for Black American Identity
  • Reparations for descendants by lineage of Foundational Black Americans
  • A Demand to STOP Illegal Immigration
  • Protected Class Legislation For FBA Descendants

These discussions and adherence to demands for reparations are of vital importance within America today.

During WWII slightly over 100,000 Japanese Americans were placed in internment camps and detained by the US Government for 3 years due to a perceived threat that Japanese American citizens would somehow be faithful to their homeland over their citizenship status as Americans. Although this was an atrocious act perpetrated by FDR (democrat President Franklin Delano Roosevelt) Those interred were not made to work, be slaves, nor were they beaten or treated as chattel.

In 1979 for 10 years Japanese Americans petitioned for reparations. In 1988 nearly 40 years after their release, each person or family that had been interred received a cash settlement of $20,000 each. This was approximately $2BB spent to provide reparations to people who were neither slaves, nor kept as slaves for nearly 400 years, as is the history of Foundational Blacks in America, nor were ever treated as chattel.

It is BIBLICAL and RIGHT to repair the damage done to humanity through chattel slavery and the theft of both a culture's person, time and intellect.

We'll make the solid case along with additional information during the PEORIA PULL UP WHERE WE SAY REPARATIONS NOW!

A Community Plan To Address Crime & Violence in Peoria, IL

Violent Crime has been an issue in America for quite some time, but in recent years, especially through covid, violent crime has increased. Just up the road in in Chicago, IL, for example, there have been over 3,100 shooting victims and 535 homicides this year alone.

The Non Essential Church

In part, I believe that the rise in crime and violence that we have experienced has been due to the
ineffectiveness of the church. This did not merely begin with covid...the church has not been effective and or relevant in the lives of many individuals for a number of years. For example, I would venture to ask, or better yet, ask your pastor, what are the main influences of crime and violence in your church's neighborhood and in your community?  Is crime and violence in your area due to drugs, gangs, poverty or a combination of each? How does the breakdown of the family structure factor into this? What is happening at the local school that effects the stability of the neighborhood and community? How is the church positioned to engage and address the issues?

Believe me when I say, I have received more emails regarding Marvin Winan's marriage (God bless him and happy for him) than emails regarding the violent murders that take place every week all over this country.

This tells me that our mission and what gets out attention is misplaced at best...Violence in our communities and the disintegration of the family and destruction of the lives of your youth happen because WE are ineffective and have made ourselves irrelevant to solving the problems. This is not God's fault, nor is it The WORD'S fault. The blame belongs to US. This is why the world viewed the liquor store more ESSENTIAL than the church. While liquor and cigarettes were sold at the highest levels in history during the covid shut-downs, our churches were shut down, told not to worship and or told how to worship and when to worship, and in my opinion, RIGHTFULLY SO!

Off The Soapbox for a second...

I too the time to put together what I call is a topical plan to address crime and violence in my area and community. Although I do not outline "preaching the Gospel" it should be abundantly clear, that we do what we do BECAUSE of the Gospel and who Jesus is, because without HIM we can and will do NOTHING!

I have had this plan for a number of years but was recently sparked into action because the Violent Crime (VC) Rate in my area exceeds 10.4 per 1,000. This is against the backdrop that the State's median is 4.07 and the National avg. is 4.00 per 1,000...so as one can see, WE have a problem!

If you are a pastor or leader, hopefully this can help you and encourage you to develop and implement a plan in your area that will allow you to minister to those hurting in our streets and PREVENT death from taking over our communities and neighborhoods. Remember, this is NOT about building a church name and or reputation, neither is it about promoting your "ministry"...This is engagement that you have to be ready for and directed of the Lord to do. I'll pray for you, and you pray for me...

Let's Get Back To The Word Of FAITH

Listen, covid, politics and everything has been wearing us out. I thought, let me post something to really put a cap and perspective on all of this MESS so that we can move on to bigger and better things...

As I stated, GOD is IN CONTROL. Covid is not a surprise to HIM and HE is more than equipped to handle and address it. In my next article we will discuss "mask morality", which is a new, rising secular value that many are swearing by, even claiming that "Jesus would wear a mask"...Talk about...anyway...

ENJOY this WORD and be blessed until we meet again and remember, OUR GOD IS NOT DEAD, HE IS YET ALIVE!!!!
