Brian Carn, Taxes & The IRS Don't Mix

BREAKING: Televangelist Brian Carn has pled GUILTY in Federal Court to charges of Tax Fraud and Evasion. 

1/15/2026 From the DOJ Office of Public Affairs:

"A few months later, when the IRS attempted to collect his unpaid taxes — including by placing liens on his properties and attempting to levy his bank accounts — Carn amended his 2015 tax return and falsely removed nearly $1.3 million in income that he previously reported. To accomplish this, Carn hired a new accountant and provided him with a fictitious, backdated employment agreement that provided for an annual salary of $120,000 and an annual parsonage allowance of $24,000. Carn represented to his accountant that this was all the income he earned for the year. Carn represented third parties on credit applications, financial account openings, and lease applications, and otherwise knew that the income he actually earned far exceeded the purported salary in the employment agreement provided to the new accountant..

In the following years, operating under the premise of the fictitious employment agreement, Carn filed a series of other tax returns that drastically underreported his true income. But in 2020, he stopped filing tax returns, despite continuing to earn income by using ministry funds to pay for personal expenses."

Believe me...I have been in JAIL before (certainly not for anything close to this)....but Yep, I have been in for my own ignorance and violation of the law. Nobody at the Dunamis WORD is happy that anyone suffers and loses their freedom. Take it from me, those metal benches and seats and commissary allowances are not worth trading freedom, needless to say, dollar pancake dinners and unsweetened tea...That is for the birds and I wish that noone has to go through that for any length of time. 

HOWEVER...there comes a time when we must examine what is actually going on and  THANK GOD for bringing abuse to an end and appreciate God for doing as HE wishes to do. 

Brian Carn The Demise Of An Abuser

This is a huge occurrence. Brian Carn has a huge following. Unfortunately, he is certainly a false prophet, and one that has allegedly used women sexually and has at least 1 child, ALLEGEDLY, that he has abandoned...BUT...is yet a human being that has delivered some good things to people over the years (among his many abuses and as abusers often do)

This is not about dragging Brian Carn, (our newest COGIC Pastor) but it is about THANKING GOD that he is correcting the House of God. Yet, there are folk that will still send him support by the droves. Probably all the fees associated with his pending imprisonment, will be paid by his most ardent supporters. They are the blind. Those who have been led astray. Those who have lent their resources to supporting abuse, ungodliness, immoral lifestyles, malfeasance and misfeasance and moral turpitude. 

No matter what, God is in control, but let this be a warning to the rest of us to GET OUR HOUSES IN ORDER. In fact, not just that...STOP PLAYING WITH GOD! 

Yep. I REPENTED. Fell on my face for my inadequacy and my thoughts that I could just "get by". I took my time (my days...not months and or years, THANK GOD!) to take a whole life, family and ministry view...to look at ME and what I had done to contribute to my trouble and most of all commit to never be found there again. 

It WORKED! Repentance always does.

Compassion Must Meet & Agree WIth TRUTH

Even though we are a compassionate people...for all men and especially for those of us who are real in the faith, we must thank God for correction and bringing abuse, usury and unrighteousness to an end. We all saw this coming, with the illicit portrayals on the internet and alleged "prophecies" following a witch's lead. This man ministered a long time on "fumes" of righteousness, getting by to seduce the most gullible. 

But yet, noone wants to see anyone fall for real. But our desire to want to support someone in trouble must meet the truth of God's word, for in his judgement, which in part this is, someone else has been delivered and set free. Someone, who was abused by him and his unchecked actions, have been brought to a place of relief. 

My prayers are for THEM...God has Carn right where he needs to be, as a beginning of the correction, but those followers, alleged abandoned kids and those associated with him who will suffer loss, need our prayers...and yes, some of them need to repent too, because they were going to ride this false horse for all that it was worth...WELL, Like David Taylor...IT'S OVER NOW!

This is what I recently stated about this revelation:

LET ALL ABUSERS BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE:

Don't try to soften it up. Carn knew what he did and continued in it. Carn doesn't represent "the Body of Christ". He represents himself, not all believers. Stop having sentiments for unrepentant criminals. He claims he doesn't need to repent for anything and has taken his self exaltation to the highest heights.

Prison ministry it is and count all else as loss to potentially save his soul. That is a good thing IF he repents. Scripture distinguishes faults from sins. Self exaltation is a sin, not in the category of a fault. Keep faults at a place to relate...but the WORD said SHOW MY PEOPLE THEIR SINS! (Is 58:1)

Yep, we all feel for Carn, but he victimized millions he is the abuser and now the abuser faces justice and that is a good thing!

Jamal Bryant.."I divorced because of MY infidelity..."

I must say that even a BROKE CLOCK is right at least twice per day...Well, I don't want to call Jamal Bryant a "broke clock" simply because I don't agree with him on many important issues as it pertains to social justice and doctrine, HOWEVER I believe that we should give HONOR to whom honor is due. 

Let me be one to say that this is a time and a subject to give honor to...DR. BRYANT!

While browsing Facebook I came across part of an interview with Jamal Bryant by a social media team called Hardley Initiated. After the first 5 seconds of the clip I was hooked because I have never heard Jamal speak regarding his part in the failure of his first marriage and ultimate embarrassment in Baltimore.

10 Out Of 10 Stars!

I would like to give Jamal 10 out of 10 Stars, not only for his openness regarding this issue,  but also for his accuracy in dealing with a subject that has been illusive for many if not most married men in the modern era, youth and individuals, Christian or not.

Although financial instability remains the leading cause of divorce within both the church and in secular society, lack of emotional connection between couples within marriage is a very close second.

Certainly the devil has made it a point to exploit sexual weakness in both men and women at an especially alarming rate against those of us in Christian leadership and within Christian circles.

The Need For Emotional Connection 

Even though some think they are, most individuals are not sex addicts. They are just people who simply enjoy or like to have sex. That is healthy. Too many however are actually addicted to the non-sexual intimacy or what is often summed up as "communication" within relationships. I would venture to say that all of us, need and even crave emotional attachment and connection at some level. Sometimes the need for emotional connection can be so overwhelming until it becomes an addiction, which facilitates a whole range of behaviors. This sort of need is pervasive especially as emotional connection and communication are the foundation for any substantive relationship as physical ability, health, excitement and even emotional attachment in any relationship often ebbs and flows.

If one has not reached a certain level of spiritual and even emotional stability, overcoming the "flight syndrome" of relationships, when the relationship is in a valley, can become difficult. Interestingly, if this is not dealt with, the person desiring connection will run away from even that connection or struggle in each valley when they feel their connection and stability has waned. This type of response to the mellow drama of committed relationships can take quite some time to overcome, and in many cases if not addressed, will never be overcome. 

Romans 12:2 ~ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Like anything else, proper and correct behavior and response to adversity demands a spiritual transformation, a renewal of the mind, has to be practiced. There is no such thing as unintentional success. All success is intentional, even the success of marriage, relationships and commitment.

The Genesis Of Church Related Abuse

Reflecting on the statements of Bishop Talbert Swan in THIS POST as he addressed a particular Elder that had a sharp critique of his message, brought my mind back 180 to the issue of church related abuse and advocacy for survivors of such abuse.

The Anatomy Of Abuse 

Abuse has a plot, or pathway that must be undertaken. That plot exists regardless of the type of abuse. Both sexual or nonsexual abuse follow similar paths...The perpetrator  seeks to exalt themselves, while simultaneously demeaning his victim and others that could be positioned to assist. Abuse is often interpreted initially as bullying, and certainly may have elements of bullying, but goes a step further into consistent derision of character and downgrading the character, intellect and personal ability of the subject. 

Then...there is the theme of abuse which is delivered on the basis of multiple lies...the lie is that the perpetrator has great power, insight and authority, and that authority is inescapable and is the final word on the issue. The lie that, as the Borg say, "resistance is futile"..."no one will believe you"...then the lie of lack of self sufficiency, that the victim can not make it on their own and their efforts are not enough to create self sustainability.

Then, within the structure of abuse, the abuser must capture and diminish the psychological strength of the victim. The abuser wishes to live rent free in the mind of their victim. The goal is to create a false sense of connection that the abuser then uses to deprive the victim of any sense of value or self sustainability. Most individuals that have suffered abuse and abusive behavior struggle with feelings of adequacy(self esteem), anxiety and trust. This is by design of the abuser, because the abuser wants his victims to "trust" him above everyone else and feel as if they can't make it on their own or at the very least without the approval of the victimizer.   

Church Related Abuse?

Yes, this type of abuse is solidly within the church. The problem is that most individuals abused can't discern their abuse, nor decipher the actions of their abuser in many cases. Many tend to write abusive behavior off to "personal preference". What makes this even more pervasive, is that many abusers within the church are persons of otherwise good behavior and personability, but have learned abusive behaviors from others and have come to emulate the abusive behavior to which they were exposed. They implement the abusive behavior that they were taught, which in most cases was affirmed to them as the "right way" to do things.

According to current studies, 95% of all abusers use psychological tactics to perpetrate their abuse and their victims are 3.5 times more likely to abuse others in a similar manner. ~ NIH 2019

New COGIC Rule...Are Bishops Beyond Critique?

I want to be the first to say that within the Church Of God In Christ, there are various and varying opinions on politics and political, social and even moral issues. It seems that within the church there are even varying interpretations on what holiness is, what the Bible says and even how it should be interpreted to a varying degrees. 

While the church's Statement of Faith seeks to unify her basic tenets of doctrine and belief, there is little that unifies the church politically and socially, or even morally other than what the General Assembly, the only policy making authority within the church, seeks to affirm. 

Quite naturally, since COGIC is built on a "Faith Mission" concept and is "Episcopal" as opposed to congregational in its leadership structure, the door appears to be open to allowing some to state various  kinds of positions and when they are in some sort of position, or office, they can be being given credibility as a "spokesperson" of the church on particular subjects. 

The Leadership Of The Church

To be clear, in absence of the General Assembly, the ONLY individual entrusted with the ability to make and act with full and indiscriminate authority on behalf of the church is her Presiding Bishop. Bishop J Drew Sheard. He is the only one who affirms the official position of the church, and may appoint members of the General Board either in lieu of himself or in addition to himself to perform certain tasks. However, even in all of that, his authority is ultimately subject to the General Assembly when it is in session. So, in an ultimate sense, not even the Presiding Bishop of our church has unencumbered or unchecked power and authority. 

Unchecked Power???

Evidently Bishop Talbert Swan, who has been given authority to act as the church's leader of "Social Justice Ministry" feels that, not only has he been authorized by the church to speak on and even make official statements on Church policy and positions of social justice but that he is also above everyone, irreproachable and that all individual, ministers, elders and other clergy, who are not in the Bishopric class, are "beneath" him. 

In a statement to one, Elder Chris Turner, who was critical of Bishop Swan's statements in a recent message called "Who Are You Calling Garbage?" regarding President Trumps recent statements regarding Somali residents of MN, specifically them who had taken part in the recent and ongoing public fraud scandal that has cost tax paying citizens of MN and the United States over 2 Billion dollars and counting.

In response to Elder Turner's commentary or disagreement, on December 11th,2025 the alleged Bishop Swan said this on Facebook:

"CLAPBACK: “STAY IN A CHILD’S PLACE” EDITION 

Chris Turner has now elevated his desperation to calling a Bishop in his denomination a “fraud” who “doesn’t know the truth of God’s word.”

"Deeds Of Darkness"

Although I am not into the minutia of the Church Of God In Christ and her operations and functions in every instance, because one could very well, lose  one's life, mirco-examining any organization, yet alone one this size, I am, however, a member of this church and am familiar with the operations, goings on, and practices within this church over the last 44 years that I have been associated with it. 

Are there injustices within the church? YES. Like anything controlled by men, there are injustices within it. The spiritual church is perfect, however this natural church leaves much to be desired. 

With some subdued notoriety, my efforts have been for and toward advocacy for those who have been victims of sexual abuse within this church through I Am My Brother's Keeper Christian Advocacy Council. I have personally reached out to each Presiding Bishop in leadership over the years, just as I have done twice to our current Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard. 

Partially due to my efforts and others who were vocal on this issue and more, the church responded by implementing an ARC system for clergy background checks and sexual harassment training. Although this is a step in the right direction, the church has stopped specifically and deliberately short of implementing a Victim's Advocacy or a Safe Church Plan. A plan that is a whole path of both prevention of abuse, abusive behavior and conduct, and a vehicle of healing for all those effected by the fallout of such sins. 

How do I know? I know because I am the ONLY member of COGIC clergy who offers such a plan (by the help and grace of God) and there have been no successful effort to sit down and take a plan or organization seriously.  More can be found on this blog by clicking HERE.(2012 Holy Convocation Interview)

The TRUE Sons Of God Revealed

The murder of Charlie Kirk, the near assassination of now President Trump and other threats to murder public officials and near misses, have revealed something, that many of us have known for a long time, but that has been publicly revealed...

No matter how people feel about themselves, their actions and joy over the unrighteous act of murder, proves that they do not belong to God and are not the children of God. 

Let me say it this way...for all those "church folk" (and there were many across the country) who applauded the murder of Charlie Kirk, thinking this was the "righteousness of God" or the occult, "Law of Attraction" at work...Or those claiming to be "Christians" excited for the near murder of President Donald Trump and a twisted sense of satisfaction for the murder of the MN. State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mike and who are happy to sign on to the threat of people's lives because of political differences and views...

We may not know who you are, but we know what you are. What's more, we also know who your real father actually is...

John 8:40-41a ~ "40-But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. 41a-Ye do the deeds of your father. "

You, with all your glory, titles and education, and in many cases, your theological degree, you are indeed a murderer and the son/daughter of a murderer aka: satan himself!

WELCOME To Reality

The devil is a "murderer" and was full of murder from his beginning. Evidently he thought this could be hidden from God. He was obviously wrong. His exposure led him into the the "Nino Brown syndrome"..."If I go down, I'm taking everyone else with me too"...

Therefore, because of his murderous intent, he is represented by a name given to him by God. satan or "accuser, one who accuses"...His intent is to bring accusation against God's people and everything that belongs to HIM. To, in essence, "murder us" before God. Those who applaud murder, and this type of destructive disruption, are the children of satan. Those who rationalize murder, are his children of as well.

The murder of Charlie Kirk was not a propitiation for sin, neither was it an appeasement done towards God. It was a self-centered act done in part because demons couldn't stand and or tolerate what he was saying.

The Return Of Jesus & The Actions Of Man

When Jesus was asked what would be the sign of his return, he said the following:

* That many would come in his name claiming to be the Messiah (Mt. 24:5)

[So many performing so many wonders that even the "elect" would be tempted to believe - Mt. 24: 24]

* There would be an excess of wars and rumors of wars (Mt. 24:6)

* That there would be famines and earthquakes (shakings) in peculiar places (Mt. 24:7)

* That his followers would face persecution (Mt. 24:9)

* Those that follow him would be hated by all nations (Mt. 24:9)

* That there would be an apostasy of faith (Mt. 24:10)

* That there would be a rank hatred that would arise (Mt. 24:10)

* That many false prophets would arise (Mt. 24:11)

* Societal lawlessness will be multiplied (Mt. 24:12)

* Love, care and concern for humanity would wane or fall off (Mt. 24:12)

* The gospel would be preached to all parts of the world (Mt. 24:14)

* That the "days would be shortened" for the perseverance of his elect (Mt. 24:22) [This indicates that the space or time allotted for something to happen and or to take place would be reduced, therefore speeding up the overall process]

Jesus says that all of these things would be happening. I would take it that these event would occur at an unusually notable pace or rate.

He then goes on to say this:

Mt. 24:36-39 ~ 36-But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37-But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38-For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39-And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Now, some believe that Jesus has already returned and gone. That sentiment is about the most biblically illiterate position and one that was argued against within scripture. (2 Tim. 2:18) However, individuals are free to believe what they wish, even if it is silly...

Then others believe the events Jesus foretold were specifically regarding the events that took place around and near AD70 when Roman Emperor Titus destroyed The Temple leading to the diaspora of Jews from the Land of Israel. 

While, I believe that past events are shades and shadows of what will happen, I DO NOT believe the events specified by Jesus in Matthew 24 have occurred in their full extent as of yet. There will be an intensity and more of a frequency of all of these things and more. 

Only GOD Knows

From the words of Jesus, we find very interesting additional information. 

1- Not even heaven (the angelic host) know when HIS return will occur. 

2- Men would be doing things similar to what they were doing in "the days of Noah"

3- Because of the deceptions and preoccupation with flesh and materialism, mankind would be oblivious to the coming of the Son of Man and caught totally off guard. 

The "Days Of Noah"

I find it fascinating that Jesus linked his return to the "days" or times of Noah in similarity. In Genesis we find that in Noah's time, the intents, thoughts, and hearts of men was evil continually:

Genesis 6:5 ~ And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

This indicates that the "age of innocence" had certainly passed. Man, who was now in control of his own aspirations, took it upon himself to be filled with the "intent" to think and do evil. This passage doesn't simply deal with the "thoughts" of men and mankind. It deals with the "intent" of the thoughts. That is most certainly a very deep place that only God can discern.  

Whether inspired by fallen angels or not, in Noah's day man's mind was working in such a fashion that the imagination and invention of evil was his his preoccupation. From scripture, it wasn't the actions of the angels or their offspring, "the Nephilim" that was God's motivation to return and destroy the works and acts of man and mankind. It was the thoughts and intents of men's hearts and their subsequent actions that had become so disturbing and so unnerving that the only course was to destroy the unrepentant and them who refused to hear HIM. 

The people had taken on the character and attributes of the devil himself. They became self centered, murderous, and callous towards the creation of God in their thoughts and actions thus displaying their subservience to "another" kingdom. A kingdom controlled and inspired by satan himself. A kingdom directed by evil intent, and the working out of evil values including sexual impropriety, immorality, scientifically advanced evil, and ultimately murder itself. 

The Return Of The Sons Of God

The ways of the evil in the "days of Noah", are certainly not unique to modern times, however, the inventions of evil and the intent of wickedness has reared its especially ugly head and the proverbial "genie" (djinn aka: evil spirit) has been let out of the bottle. A dimension of evil has been opened and this will not be put out, subdued or overcome in its totality until Jesus returns. 

Rom. 8:19 ~  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

The fallen angels, who rejected the reign and the Kingdom of God, and who were disobedient to the will of God, will never find respite for their rebellious decision. Theirs is an eternal and perpetual appointment with the Lake of Fire which was specifically created for them, which is something that they did not know. (Rev. 20:10)  Those of us, who carry on and carry out the will of God through Christ Jesus have been given the power to become the "Sons of God"

John 1:12 ~ But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

While I certainly understand the theological implication of what I am setting forth, I yet believe, that though we will never be in the "angelic" class of being, being a Son of God,  is a complete replacement of those who were previously called the sons of God, and we see the angelic host, throughout scripture, called the "Sons Of God". (Gen. 6:4, Job 1:6, 2:1)

Those angels who rebelled, those demonic entities who now wreak havoc in the earth, and want this realm for themselves, and plague you, your family and all that has been reserved for God, are no longer HIS sons in the biblical sense...Through Christ Jesus WE have been given this ability to overcome the evil one and all of his tricks, and now stand as servants of God ready and willing to do HIS bidding and have access to the power of the Holy Ghost to complete HIS task.

Acts 1:8 ~  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The obedient servant of God is exactly who the creation, the earth, and everything in this vast universe anticipates to destroy the order of evil that entered creation and break the stronghold that the enemy has upon humanity and creation itself.  satan seeks an greater grip, and would have such if we, the true sons of God, would abdicate our responsibility, shut up, go away, and give up the fight for the redemption of our family, our communities and the church itself.    

But, NOT SO...we are STRONG IN THE LORD AND IN HIS POWER and ready for battle. 

I will not be deceived as so many have been. We have been truly let down and disappointed by those whom we never anticipated would be a part of the devil, sin and evil in any way, yet alone enthusiastic, melancholy or even enthusiastic about murder and the destruction of God's creation. 

However, should we really be surprised? When we have pulpits and leaders silent about pedophilia, abortion and the murder of babies, encouraging the mutilation and defiling the image of God through gender bending transexual surgeries, and alleged advanced medical treatment and the defilement of humanity and corruption of moral values and corruption of Christian values. 

Behind the true and uncompromising church, we have a weak church, which is at times more visible than the true church, led by those who encourage, if not endorse, hate, evil and murder and find a way to rationalize anti-biblical morality and have no conscience remorse or regret about their actions. Who would think that anyone could ever criticize notions of Christian nationalism, and reframe it as a call to "White Supremacy", while at the same time accepting notions of Sharia and Sharia Law found within radical and even basic interpretations of Islam? 

This is the problem and what we see in Jesus words regarding the false prophet and deception. It is the dumbing down of righteousness, true holiness and the true Kingdom of God.

The Unjust Social Justice Of Bishop Talbert Swan II...Things That Make Us Go...Hmmmmm

The Dunamis Word has been at what we do for quite some time. We have answered our call and taken our place to hold up the light of truth against the ever dim and dark culture of both the church and the world.

 

As I have stated in a previous posts, outside of continuing to encourage my church, the "Grand Ole" Church Of God In Christ, to adopt a true Victim's Advocacy Plan and policy, taking the healing and restoration of survivors of sexual abuse seriously, I am not obsessed in the least with what goes on in this church, or with who is doing what. 

But This Caught My Attention...

In 2015, under former Presiding Bishop Charles E Blake, Bishop Talbert Swan II was appointed the leader of COGIC Social Justice and operates through the COGIC Office Of Public Policy. During the 117th Annual Holy Convocation Bishop Swan was seemingly reaffirmed as the head of "Social Justice" by current Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard.

A quick look at his BIO, it is clear to see that Swan is very outspoken on the internet, television appearances, radio, which is not bad, IF he actually represented positions that a holiness church could be proud of. 

For example, not only is he the National Chaplain of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc, a secret society, which, at least in my 40 plus years of being associated with this church, we decried...but he is also one that seems to follow the path of blaming those who see abuse for abuse...I mean he railed against every Youtuber and others who see the inequities they see and discuss it over the internet.  

After listening to him and reading some of his commentary on issues invarious forums in which he appears, it is obvious that Swan is a politically left leaning liberal and advocates for positions that most left leaning liberals advocate including railing against MAGA, Conservatism and pro DEI, abortion and many of the more popular socialist and Marxist inspired ideas and values that exist today.

Social Justice...Liberalism vs Conservatism 

What we need is a fairness and clear direction as it comes to "Social Justice", since we are evidently seeking to be in that space as a church. We should come to an agreement with an approach that includes both liberal and conservative voices, views and issues because this church does not represent one side of the spectrum of perceived and real "justice" by its racial makeup.  

• Some of us believe that the abortion of babies is unjust...
• Some of us believe that overlooking them that have suffered at the hands of pedophiles and sexual abuser's within our church is unjust...
• Some of us believe that the illegal immigration and those that fight for such and against the efforts of ICE and enforcement agents is unjust...
• Some of us believe that the church's assault and policy to strong-handedly confiscate churches at the death of a Pastor is unjust...

Does our Office of Social Justice exist to advocate for or against for any of those things?  Does COGIC Social Justice represent ALL the church or just part of the church? 

Like many, it seems that in his effort to silence those of us who are vocal about what we see within the church, and unafraid to speak to the issues, that Talbert Swan has opened the door for many to take a more close and more meticulous look at him and what he is actually saying to represent the church and those of us who do not agree with many of his positions.

Memphis Crime, The National Guard, Liberalism & The 117th Annual Holy Convocation

Recently, Presiding Bishop J Drew Sheard released a statement regarding safety and security at the upcoming 117th Holy Convocation, suggesting that to the Saints that they not be "afraid" due to the presence of the National Guard.

I posted the following regarding that statement:

"Why would anyone be nervous when the city is more safe now than it has ever been??? 

You have missing kids that have been found, folk are reporting that they can walk and shop freely without fear of being robbed or mugged and our church feels we need a "disclaimer" regarding people keeping safe???

Can't be serious that we are that obtuse."

I would like to affirm this statement. It seems that, like many political liberals, we have been sold on "looks" and "appearances" greater than results. The result of the presence of the National Guard has been positive for the citizens of of Memphis and have provided a long needed sense of safety for her residents.

The "spill-over" effect is that Memphis will be a much more safe place than ever for the Saints attending the 177th Annual Holy Convocation.

I would hope that we can rise above the negative political epithets that divide us as a nation and body of people. It is the people we serve, the Black and minority community, that have been the first recipient of a safer community. No matter who has facilitated that beneficial measure we should rejoice and encourage the Saints rather than add a level of fear based on erroneous stereotypes and political leanings.

THE EXTRA

The last 2 statements regarding major events, such as the murder of Charlie Kirk and this one regarding Memphis and the security of the Saints, have been underwhelming. 

Charlie Kirk was just as much of a Christian and follower of Jesus as anyone else who serves Christ. and it seems that the Presiding Bishop's statement stopped short of claiming that he was a Christian and represented Christian views and moral ethics. The overall statement regarding Charlie Kirk was disturbing. 

But then, to top it off with a statement disregarding the vast benefits that a new and revised community safety and community plan has afforded the citizens of Memphis, TN., and the lives that have been saved as a result, makes us question is this church truly seeking to serve ALL men, or only those who embrace liberal and Democrat politics and political leanings?  

Let's be TRUTHFUL...Our leadership is not short on political and social liberals at the highest levels and ranks. We have Bishops, some of whom, support, and at the very least are silent about abortion, homosexuality and even transgenderism. While some may be politically and socially conservative, they certainly keep it to themselves.

Then, we have yielded our spaces and Holy Desk at the Holy Convocation to them who even have views contrary to the scripture and antithetical to Christ, community and Biblical Values...YEP...I can name them...I can present what THEY themselves say and teach regarding topics of racism, social and moral ills and values, and their views fall far short for anyone representing holiness...

Then, when we exit the social and political realm, in the last year, we have allowed at least 3 (certainly more) Pastor's stories to go viral regarding their illicit affairs, pedophillic abuses and sins without saying a word or distancing ourselves from immorality...Don't believe me? See HERE, HERE and HERE and this doesn't mention why we're calling the police on National choir members  such as Sybil Finney, or explain how we plan to address the issues raised HERE...Are we arresting folk, talking about good, faithful church members, in our churches now???

All these things have resulted in us becoming a laughingstock as noted...HERE...

No, I have not written about these issues as they are adequately covered by others who are delivering RECEPTS...I don't have time, these folk are grown and I really want to focus on things that will benefit the Body of Christ instead of focus on COGIC issues and our ability to overlook problems and shout on anyway...

However, to the point, it would seem that with all that we have going on in our church at this time, that we would welcome the safety and security that many of the residents of Memphis have found with the presence of the National Guard and a heightened police presence within the City.  

TOO MUCH LIBERAL SOCIAL and even LIBERAL POLITICAL THOUGHT has come through this church. No one can say that there was not a concerted effort to keep Bishop Wooden off of the Church's General Board because of his openly conservative political and social views. I don't think an argument can be made to the contrary. 

Black liberal "association" does not guarantee any benefits for Black people or for the Black community. In fact, many of our most popular embrace the worst political and social policies contemplated. Policies that have damaged our communities and kept whole segments of our community, the communities which the church serves, the Black population in particular... DOWN for generations. 

I would hope that we could see the benefits of diversity in political and social thought within this church, rather than buying in to stereotypes and lies of the culture. We are serving a generation who is rising and waking up every day to a better and more real truth than what we have been pushing. 

Hopefully, we can join the stream of them that want true reform and restoration for our children and families, rather than just to simply look good.

Sonya Massey Trial Verdict...Was Justice Served?

 

While we all agree that good law enforcement and police protection is essential to our life and safety as a community and even society, just imagine this:

• You call the police to protect you against a threat.
• You feel threatened by the police
• You begin to rebuke the devil you see in the posture and demeanor of the alleged officer
• The police (officer you called for help) points a gun at you and tells you, if you go for that boiling water I will shoot you in your face...
• You say, "I'm sorry"...
• Then, without further provocation, the police, whom you called for protection, shoots to kill you, you from a distance of 10 to 15 feet or not more firing his service weapon 3 times, but striking you once in the head... 

Then, when asked why he did this, the alleged officer says, he was in fear for his life, as he feared that you would scold him with a pot of hot water that was on your stove...But unfortunately, you're not here to hear any of this, because the alleged officer didn't protect YOU, he murdered you!

THE VERDICT

On Oct. 29th in the city in which I reside, Peoria, IL, a 2nd degree murder verdict was delivered upon the head of Sean Grayson, an alleged former Sangamon County Sheriff's Deputy, who, when he was called to help a woman and family struggling, (Sonya Massey), but ended up killing her in what he claimed was an act of "self defense". He stated that he felt threatened, at her potential ability to throw a pot of boiling water on him, (from 10 to 15 feet away, I might add)

Although, the prosecution was for 1st degree murder, which I believe his actions deserved, the jury was instructed on their ability to also impose 2nd degree murder and returned with the 2nd degree verdict. 

Attorney Christopher Mccall of Peoria, IL stated the following regarding the 2nd degree verdict:

"This is the law in everyday language. Second-degree murder occurs when someone knowingly and purposefully kills someone but a jury finds mitigating factors such as: the defendant subjectively believed that he or she was acting in self-defense, but the belief was UNREASONABLE. In Illinois, second-degree murder is a Class 1 felony that carries a sentencing range of 4 to 20 years in prison. A judge may also be able to sentence a defendant to probation instead of prison time. But PROBATION is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to occur here. A fine can be issued up to $25,000. A defendant convicted of second-degree murder can be ordered to pay restitution for all out-of-pocket expenses and losses directly caused by their actions, including medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and funeral expenses."

Although the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office (Springfield, IL) previously settled with the Massey family for $10MM, the largest settlement in their history, there are yet still serious questions regarding this convicted criminal with a badge? Will he get what he actually deserved? 

WAS THIS VERDICT FAIR?

Opinions range in this case, but I don't believe that any reasonable person can view this incident and the result without asking about fairness. Ms. Massey DID NOT deserve to die or be threatened by police. Ms. Massey DID comply with the alleged officer and had an instrument, hot water, that she DID NOT use and dropped as commanded. The alleged officer's actions were over the top and in our opinion he deserved a greater sentence than 2nd degree murder...One can argue, as the defense did, that he didn't enter to kill Ms. Massey, but certainly, at some point, no matter what she did, he intended to inflict harm and obviously, by shooting at her head, he intended for her to not simply comply, but intended to kill her.

Yes, we need police reform...however, we can't lump clowns like Grayson in with good officers who actually protect and serve the community. 

I used to live in Sangamon County. Springfield, IL to be exact and yes, the County Sheriff's Dept. in the Land of Lincoln, was horrible at that time. I received some tickets and was even in a holding cell for a few hours at one time for a traffic ticket...I am familiar with the "corn-fed", "good ole boy" racist attitudes that existed at that time. Hopefully, since the reorganization of the Department and her culture has changed. However, it is sad that we have to loose a life before things change. 

1st Degree or 2nd Degree, this whole trial was sad and something that never should have happened. Whatever, justice that was left undone, believe me, will be accounted for before the ONE TRUE AND JUST JUDGE of ALL...Our Lord Jesus Christ!

Chicago Simeon High School...More Than About Basketball

Chicago Simeon is one of the most successful high school Basketball programs in the State of Illinois.  With a list of celebrated alumni, such as former NBA star, Derrick Rose, Simeon strives to be at the top of its game every year and one of the last teams standing when tournament time comes around. 

Coach Tim Flowers, who was also a teammate of Rose when he played for Simeon, is at the helm of the program and like many of us who coach inner city youth, seek to make the best of our opportunities to expose kids to the world and help them gain a greater sense of place and purpose which directly impacts their futures.

And such was the case when the Simeon team was invited to play, in its off season, in a SLAM tournament in China. The problem was that exposing the kids to greater opportunity led to a team penalty and coach suspension under the so called IHSA (Illinois High School Association) rules ...You see, this Association, which has bylaws and procedures, some of which are ridiculous, suspended this coach and his staff because allegedly, high school coaches and staff, are under restrictions during the off season and cannot "coach their teams"...OK, if it were that simple, this would be a non-story...but it's not that simple, especially in light of the cultural upheaval that we are witnessing within our community today. 

Coach Flowers followed the rules. After being penalized some years ago, this time the coach, as you will hear in his own words, followed the rules and received APPROVAL from his school AD (Athletic Director) and Administration. Neither the school district nor the local school was on the hook for cash. Kids, were excited and came with completely new perspectives and, as they expressed, found a level of respect that they had never experienced before. YET...all that began with a violation of IHSA Rules, at least according to the IHSA. 

I hate to use this as a time to point towards public policy, but in Illinois, it amazes me the lengths that the powers that be go to, to keep the community and Black people in particularly, down...I mean we have a totally ignorant Chicago Mayor, who would rather see Black youth killed and illegal migrants in his city, and a totally lunatic Governor on the same political trope, all with the result of damaging the Black community above all others that suffer...For them, and evidently the IHSA, it's like, let's single out who we wish to single out and they don't care what the implications and results are...

Interestingly, in track and field, the IHSA does similarly...while not officially having oversight of an indoor season, they regulate what events and which places the athletes can compete even prior to the season opening, EXCEPT when it is an event THEY want to endorse, such as the Indoor Top Times meet in Bloomington, IL,. which is by the way, overseen by mostly "White" organizers...YEP...Looking back...there was a meet in Chicago, called the VibeFest, overseen by Black individuals, and mostly inner city teams and the IHSA sent messages that schools were not to use any resources to support the meet and had to register as independent athletes, and could not wear school uniforms...This was atrocious, but along the lines of what the IHSA does...

Why??? BECAUSE that can...

Listen to Coach Flowers as he explains this, while trying to tip toe through this mine-field and not draw any more sanctioning of the IHSA...The school seems to have abandoned him, so he may as well speak for himself.

"All Nations Shall Rise Against Israel" ~ The UN Security Council

It has begun...

On Sept. 18th, 2025, 14 of the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council, and 4 out of the 5 permanent members of the council, led by Algeria, set forth a cease fire resolution accepting the accusation of the Human Rights Council (HRC) that Israel is engaging in genocide and is committing the height of atrocities of inhumane actions, further demanding that Israel should immediately cease her actions in Gaza, and allow international aid into the region. The United States voted NO on the action and further accused those who drafted the resolution of continued and ongoing anti-semitism. 

14-Therefore prophesy, son of man, and tell Gog that this is what the Lord GOD says: On that day when My people Israel are dwelling securely, will you not take notice of this?e 15-And you will come from your place out of the far north—you and many peoples with you, all riding horses—a mighty horde, a huge army. 16-You will advance against My people Israel like a cloud covering the land. It will happen in the latter days, O Gog, that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I show Myself holy in you before their eyes ~ Ezek 38:14-16

At the same time and on the same day, America's closest ally, Great Britain, has declared its continued intent to recognize the Palestinian State. Remember, there is and remains no Palestinian government or leadership, and a nation called Palestine has never existed. 

Riyad Mansour "The Palestinian Representative To The UN" was especially bombastic and eager to rewrite history claiming Hamas (by proxy of the Palestinian people) to be innocent an d called for the UN to mount an "International Protection Force" ie: soldiers to Gaza,  claiming that his alleged "nation" is a part of the "forces of peace in the world". He went on to assert that Israel was a "killing machine" which had been launched against Palestinians. 

And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. ~ Zec. 14:12

Why Was The Alleged Cease Fire Resolution Rejected?

There was great debate over this and the only individuals that were interested in laying the full resolution out was the delegation from Israel. Israel outlined that the alleged cease-fire was developed by 10 nations with Algeria leading the charge. The resolution was accepted by all other members of the HRC except the United States. The United States representative denounced the resolution because of its anti-semitic bias. 

In addition to being and anti-semitic document, the additional reasons that the proposal was rejected by the United States were:

• It's language refused to declare that ALL acts of terrorism were inhumane and should be condemned.

• The resolution refused to include any language that would condemn the actions of Hamas. 

• The resolution refused to demand that Hamas lay down its weapons and return all hostages immediately as a condition of peace.

Remember, Hamas is classified as a terrorist group, is an illegitimate government and organization who developed and carried out the unprovoked and disgusting and barbaric attack on Israel on Oct. 7th 2023. Remember, it was Hamas PIGS who beheaded men, women, and children, microwaving children, raping women and defiling the land with the murder of the innocent. Over 1,200 people were brutally murdered and most were innocent civilians, children, unsuspecting families. 

Amar Benjamma of Algeria, in response to Israel's shining the light on why this horrible resolution was rejected by the United States, and Israel claimed that 10 of the elected member nations of the Security Council had drafted and accepted the resolution and that their only aim and focus was on the "famine" and ultimately "genocide" of the Palestinian people and the "revulsion" against the actions of Israel and what is currently happening to the Palestinian people. Nearly refusing to address the absolute atrocities and seemingly glossing over the fact that a terrorist organization is still holding hostages intending to use them as human shields against the attack of Israel, the nations approving of this measure were adamant that Israel was wrong and was a genocidal nation. 

1-And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 2-And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. ~ Revelation 13:1-2

It is clear that there is a rising hatred against Israel and that is not necessarily because of the actions of Israel. Israel has been a peaceful state and the only free nation in the region. This fight is a spiritual fight against the God of Israel which gave birth to what is called Christianity today. It is that foundation, the foundation of the WORD of TRUTH that is under attack. 

Christianity, and biblical morality is under fire as it has been for a number of years. The world is coming together in effort to push out God and his WORD and replace it with the rule of mankind or humanism. I have noticed this intent is especially broadened when secularism has been set back either by leadership, the courts and or rejected by the people. 

Remember, as I outlined in my articles "The New Enlightenment Pt. 1", and "Not So Wild About Harry & The New Humanism" the Humanist Manifesto of the late Paul Kurtz outlined the following goals:

"…The wider platform for human progress as part of a New Enlightenment needs, I submit, to advocate secularism in the above three senses:
(1) the separation of religion from the state;
(2) the humanization of values that satisfy the deeper interests and needs of human beings; and
(3) the decline of religious practice, entailing the growth of the Human City in place of the City of God."

By whatever means, the devil does not want the people of God to exist. Why? Because through us, and the Spirit of God within us, the world and the devil himself, (or as Enoch lays it out, the children of Nephilim or what we know as evil spirits who were confined to this world in their death) are constrained from performing the full evil and full evil acts that they wish to do in this world. Since God used the flood, to destroy them, their technology, their acts and their works, they have desired to renew and replenish their evil to the fullest upon the Earth, and the only thing that constrains them is The Spirit of the Lord through HIS church which will NOT be defeated!

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ~ Mt. 16:18

These are truly evil days. Remember, the acts and ways of the devil and evil will appear to be rooted in reason and the security and safety of humanity. Many will find evil palatable and even desirable. In the church, it will be a focus on everything but what it takes to yield to God and his Spirit. They will cheer for blood as they did with Charlie Kirk and as they wished they could with President Donald Trump. Biblical morality will be set on its ear. It will be era of human reason and the era of human will that will take front and center and set the stage for the anti-Christ and the eschaton or fulfillment of the last days and ultimately, the Kingdom of God. 

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. ~ Rev. 22:12

Charlie Kirk At Cambridge

It amazes me to hear many of my fellow Black ministers attempt to reconcile the murder of Charlie Kirk with God's justice and even more, with the Law of Attraction. It certainly lets me know why the Black church has lost much of her influence in the world and nearly all of her power with God. WE ARE A BACKSLIDDEN CHURCH! Churches led by White ministers and suburban congregations have always had issues, but we have fallen a long way even into the enjoyment of public executions. Seems that we would be the last ones to enjoy or relish over such displays after all that has been done to us, as a Black community even in the post civil war era. Shameful!

The sad part is that some don't even recognize what Charlie Kirk was doing and what his ministry was. Many didn't understand that he not only had a political mission, but that he was also a Christian apologist. Further, many have no clue as to what true community engagement is, or how to preach, teach and stand for the gospel outside of the 4 walls of the church or to them that disagree, and or what the gospel ultimately means. 

Instead, many Black ministers have resorted to a culturally centered and culturally sensitive gospel based on their perception of racism, which has been redefined by them to suit their audience. This type of Black theology, in many instances is led by sinners, who cannot spiritually perceive the door and know little about the gospel and them that delivered it in holy writ. 

I admit. Charlie Kirk cannot be compared to Malcom X, or Dr. MLKing...Why? Because CHARLIE PREACHED THE GOSPEL and was faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ in message and in deed. Certainly many Black ministers preach truth and live the same as well, however the problem is that too many, both ethnic and urban, both Black and White, use the gospel as a means to a personal end. I'll expound on this in my next article. 

Charlie did what Paul did, he went to Mars Hill and preached and helped changed the world and shook the devil from his foundation. These preachers are FREE to speak in disapproval of him as they chose because of people like Mr. Kirk that promoted a free and fair exchange of ideals and values.
