"Speak It In The Atmosphere"

The New Gnostic Thought

In 2007 I featured a post called "The Divination Of Detroit" in which I highlighted the efforts of Juanita Bynum II  (or whomever she is currently named) pointing to her practices during a prayer service at Greater Grace Temple, Detroit Michigan. Juanita was presenting a 3 pronged strategy as a key to receiving your blessing and seeing a "manifestation of the Spirit", "in the earth realm".

Now, I want you to know that the terminology is suspect to begin with. There is no other "realm" whereby we can perceive a "miracle" from God. So cliches such as this aren't really worth their salt and certainly aren't inspired by the spirit...at least not the Holy Spirit!

Back to the issues...Juanita's strategy was to :
  1. Praise the Lord intensely
  2. Wait for the anointing to come.
  3. After the anointing "arrives" call out your name in the atmosphere to attract or draw what you need in the spirit.
As I pointed out then and still do now, Juanita's teaching in this regard was a repackaging of PAGAN ideas and teachings on the "Law Of Attraction". Her teaching was froth full of scripturally unsupportable assertions and dangerously ungodly implications.

Unfortunately, gnosticism and cultism is in full swing within the modern church and especially within some of my fellow Pentecostal circles. It seems that this saying of "speaking what you want into the atmosphere" has permeated the landscape and many are being fed a deadly diet of toxic spirituality that is destined and bound to kill and subdue one's spirit to the enemy of our souls.

Donald Lawrence
Example, Donald Lawrence in his work, "The Law Of Confession Pt. 1" which was inspired in part by a series of teachings by his pastor Bill Winston of Chicago (who has also said that if you believe in the "word of faith" you can be a millionaire in 30 days) said that "you are what you speak into the atmosphere" he also said this on the website under his biography as it pertains to the "Law Of Confession" itself:
“A law is simply a principle, based on the predictable consequence of an act, confession in the Greek language is homo-logeo which means to say what has been said. There is a spiritual law for confession: you just say what God has already said...`Speak The Word.’”
Another artist, Myron Butler and Levi, in his song "Speak" stated:
Myron Butler
"I shall have what I decree, yes I believe, It belongs to me, So I'm going to speak into the atmosphere"...Speak it, speak it, open up your mouth and declare it."
Both of these songs and artists are very popular within the black church and community of gospel artists especially. They are certainly not the only one's promoting this type of message, but they are notable because they are so popular and many choir presentations are full of or have been full of their music.

What neither Donald nor Myron may not realize is that they are actually dealing in metaphysical concepts erroneously claiming two things: 1- That words (whether repetitions of biblical verses or not) are a force that  manipulates the material world similar to performing an incantation over some object expecting it to change shape and form and. 2- That there are laws instituted by God that govern such transactions but are hidden to the general public and only revealed to certain among us for all to enjoin.

NEITHER of these thoughts or assertions are true however. Words do not metaphysically create material substances. Words certainly may arrange certain circumstances that may impact ones future or current status or condition, however words have no ability to manipulate material either positively or negatively.

The more ominous assertion is that words manipulate spiritual reality. That words that are spoken out loud work behind the curtains of reality to create circumstances that would not have otherwise been created without the words being spoken. Thoughts along this line are equally as faulty or fallacious of an argument. Although the communication of certain words can either energize, motivate or deflate and depress is obvious, but that is not a meta-spiritual process.

Where Does All This Come From?
"If you want it, you can have it, if you get out of the way" ~ Abraham-Hicks
Some say that the bible is the basis for the beliefs mentioned here. Certainly there are texts when taken out of context and expanded into places and areas that they were not meant to expand, that seem to support much of what was said. In other words one has to misinterpret the bible to truly find support for much of what is commonly preached and sang about in many of our churches. On the other hand, no one makes it a habit of talking negatively and expecting positive results for anything. But could there be something else at work here?

Before there was "The Secret" there was the world of Abraham-Hicks and the Law Of Attraction. It is also known as the science of deliberate creation.

"That which is like unto itself is drawn"

Esther & Jerry Hicks
Defining physical bodies as "clumps" and asserting that we are not living souls or don't possess souls, but are a continuous stream of "source energy", Esther Hicks is a woman who is said to "transfer blocks of thought from a non-physical source energy using the word Abraham". In her seminars she "channels" (although she doesn't like to use that word) the "source energy" which appears to be a multiple "infinite" entity or being from whom Esther translates both energy and intent and assigns the name "Abraham". Once again, this is the name Esther gives the entity based on her interpretation of the message and intent of the  "source energy" speaking to her. (at least so the "entity" says)

"When you begin to understand Law of Attraction, and you understand that which is like unto itself is drawn, then it is easier and easier to understand that you are offering a signal, and the entire Universe responds."

Abraham, (through Esther Hicks) says that humans are here to "co-create" with him/them, it also says that humans are simply "vibrations" of "source energy". In fact according to this spirit guide, everything in the physical world was once vibration, that was thought upon until it became thought form, until it eventually became a physical manifestation. According to this spirit guide, it takes 17 seconds for thoughts to become vibrations and ultimately thought form not only expand individual reality but it also expand the universe. This leads to the conclusion that all thoughts create some form of reality.

The 17 Second Vibration
Remember, according to this new gnostic teaching, it takes 17 seconds for a thought to become a vibration and ultimately thought form. Once that happens, it brings other thoughts in line with it. This is because of the the Law Of Attraction, which is the most important element of 12 Universal Laws as outlined under the principles of the Laws Of Attraction. Once those thoughts are repeatedly meditated upon, they become  "chronic" thoughts also known as a set of beliefs that only attract other similar beliefs to it. So in the universe, whatever thoughts or vibrations that are put out ultimately receive equivalent results.

The Negative
Generally speaking out and rendering thoughts "against" things are considered to be negative and not something that helps one grow. In fact Abraham says that when you push against things such as drugs and even terrorism, ("which is minimal is the scheme of things", at least according to this supposed source energy) it causes you to not "go with who you are". So in short, one can't dwell on the negative because in doing that one is not pursuing their positive self. If one let's go of negative expressions and thoughts and focus on the brightest times and reality of things in the current time and reality, resistance will go away and the "stream" (of source energy) will carry one to the "exalted expression" of who one truly is.

Inspiration
In this strange world,  the Law Of Attraction is responsible for one wanting to fulfill their purpose or calling. This is nothing more than a non-physical energy vibration that one views as a sensation. Ultimately the Law of Attraction should lead persons to bliss if done right. Abraham says this through Esther: "Nothing is more important than I feel good". This is hedonism and totally contrary and incompatible with a biblical world view.

What You Want & The Ultimate Condition
When asking for something that you want (which is the first step to receiving it) one cannot continue to SAY that they do not have what they are asking for. One cannot tell the story of "what is" if one wants something to change because, according to the Universal Law of Attraction saying things activates the vibration within. Abraham says that we are "spiritual and physical beings" who live in an environment "where that which is spirit materializes". One can become the vibrational equivalent to the source within and begin to look and see things through the experience of that source.

Modern religious teachers call this tapping into the divine nature inside of one's self. In fact Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar and many other teachers claim that God only produces after his kind and since he produced man he produced little god's like himself with the same attributes to create with the power of words just like he did in the beginning.
“Now I gotta hit this thing real hard in the very beginning because I ain't got time to go through all this, but I am going to say to you right now you are gods, little “g”, you are gods because you came from God and you are gods. You are not just human. The only human part about you is this physical body that you live in.” Creflo Dollar (Sept. 15, 22, 2002, Made after his Kind)

"God's reason for creating Adam was his desire to reproduce himself...He was not a little like God. He was not almost like God. He was not subordinate to God even."~ Kenneth Copeland "Following The Faith Of Abraham" Kenneth Copeland Ministries 1989 Tape # 01-3001 side 1, as cited in "Christianity In Crisis" ~ Hank Hanegraaff [Harvest House Publishers 1993]Pg. 108
Most of this information can be found on this web page: Laws Of Attraction Videos

The 2nd Of The Universal Laws

The Law of Vibration: The Law of Vibration is all about how everything in this universe vibrates or moves. It also explains how each thing, sound, thought, emotion and words all have there very own vibration or frequency in which it lives.

This seems to be the principle of focus that is being "christianized" by many of the proponents of these concepts. The thoughts, after 17 seconds become vibrations and vibrations attract other vibrations of the same or similar frequency.

"Speaking it into the atmosphere" or "calling the name of what you want when the spirit is high", is said to draw what is desired to one's self. This is a NON-BIBLICAL practice that has no warrant within scripture and is firmly rooted within new gnostic thought and cultism based on the Universal Law Of Attraction.

There are an additional 10 Universal Laws:

Law of Divine Oneness: The Law of Divine Oneness explains how we are all connected in someway. Everything we do, say or think is connected and effects all others and this vast universe we live in.

The Law of Action: The Law of Action states that we must move in the direction of our dreams in order to achieve them. We must engage in some action that supports what we think about and or dream about.

The Law Of Correspondence: The Law of Correspondence states “as above, so below” or in other words, everything has it’s own corresponding counterpart.

The Law Of Cause And Effect: This Universal Law I’m sure you’ve heard of. Maybe you know it by another name. You know: every action has an equal or opposite reaction. Yep, that’s this law in a nutshell.

The Law Of Compensation: The Law of Compensation is really the Law of Cause and Effect as it relates to how we are provided with blessings based on our deeds and daily actions. You’ve heard what comes around goes around, well here it is, as a Law of Nature.

The Law of Transmutation Of Energy: This Universal Law demonstrates how all people have the ability and the power to change there current situations in life. You can do this by changing the energies that you are putting out into the world, by following and understanding these universal laws of attraction.

The Law of Relativity: The Law of Relativity states that all things are relative. We are all given our own roadblocks, our own personal challenges we must face in order to grow as individuals and by comparing yours to other peoples circumstances is a waste, because there situations are different, yet, relative.

The Law of Polarity: This law states that just like a magnet that has opposite polarities so does everything else in nature. Everything has an equal opposite such as good and evil or yes and no.

The Law of Rhythm: The Law of Rhythm explains how everything in the universe has it’s own rhythm. These rhythms are important to our very existence. These rhythms are what create the seasons. This rhythm is what the cycle of life is all about. All cycles have parts to them that we favor less and it is in how we deal with these things that are important.

The Law of Gender: This law simply states that there is both a feminine and a masculine principle to all things in nature. It is up to us to open ourselves up to these gender principals to create balance in our lives. Imagine this law as the law of yin and yang.
Conclusion:

Does any of this sound familiar? If one were to walk in many of our churches today, one would find elements of the same concepts and ideas many almost verbatim with Jesus name slapped on top of it. How many times have you heard, "don't speak negatively into the atmosphere"? As if negative spirits will be drawn to you and something bad will happen as a result or that the plan of God would be undermined by what you think or say.

How many times have you heard your choir sing something to the effect of praise the Lord so that we can be more "attractive to the Spirit"? Or been encouraged to worship to "change the atmosphere" as to prepare for some spiritual importation or supernatural blessing?

Ephesians 3:20 ~ "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"

In this strange new gnosticism, words and what one says either brings blessings or curses. God is not the author of all things and according to many of the leading proponents of these teachings man becomes a god even if it is with a little "g". Words and mans ability to speak to the atmosphere takes precedence over the Power of God. The problem is that the "universe" didn't die for any of our sins, not is the universe anything but a material existence. Ultimately, God is simply a manager or an incidental part of all that happens.

When will we wake up and stop allowing leaders and music ministries to lead us into apostasy and false doctrine? I challenge you, when you hear this in your church, as you may, stand up and present this information and more to your pastor and music leader and see what type of response you get. Listen to the messages even more intently looking for signs of meta-spiritual affirmations or metaphysical presentation of biblical concepts. Usually error begets error, and although this may challenge the way you've worshiped in times past, it will prepare you for much more effective and Christ centered worship in the future.

Blessed!

  1. Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

All too often this scripture is misinterpreted for an attribute that the Believer has, but if you’d only look at the conjunction AND in this verse, it describes 2 things that God does.

So what it boils down to is reading comprehension or the lack thereof!!

Because man cannot quicken the dead nor can he call those things which be not as though they were, this is quite foolish on so many levels but people persist in trying to pervert faith to this magnitude!!

  2. Were did this idea of speaking things into existence come from? I love Donald Lawrence and his contributions to gospel music has been wonderful.

Back in 2009 I mention on my blog how Donald Lawrence was moving toward that New Age way of thinking. In an interview that he did about his latest project Lawrence said he wanted people to realize how powerful words are and that they have the power to set the tempo for their life's success.

"The enemy has influenced their words and they are no longer speaking like kings but there is a king inside...Change your speech to that of a ruler."

Here is one title off the CD that caught my attention. "Let The Word Do The Work" I don't believe we alone have the power to set the tempo for our life. If you have not accepted the Word of God then your words have no power. It's by Jesus that we have this power and not we by our self. The CD is about applying the Word of the Lord to everyday life that it may change your personal speech speaking only positive things and things of good report,” says Lawrence. The Law Of Confession.

  3. Vaughn,

Absolutely right my friend. There are attributes of God that were not communicated to man. No one of us can simply create material out of nothing such as God does.

Then none of us can make ourselves taller by repeating, "I am taller" Those things are silly and serve no purpose spiritually. Those type of attributes were not communicated to us.

However listening to many of these that teach WOF doctrine one can only come up with some of the more absurd understandings.

Nothing is wrong with confessing or rehearsing the word of God. however, to use it or rehearse it in effort to manipulate reality is cult like and not a Christ centered method.

This "speak into the atmosphere" isn't outlined anywhere within scripture though. I don't see any of the apostles speaking something in effort to control their environments. They moved with power of the Spirit and in the Glory of the Lord.

  4. Thanks JJ,

I agree as well. I have enjoyed Donald's songs and like his music as well.

I don't want to blame it on his pastor, but I have heard him recently say "If you believe in the word of faith you can be a millionaire in a month"

I took it as he was simply overcharged and excited about what he was saying, but he is a classic Word Of Faith teacher.

The problem is not simply believing God for certain things. the problem is crediting or claiming that words have a metaspiritual or metaphysical power. Similar to a type of magic or divination (if either of them have power)

Now, should one speak negatively? Absolutely not. But NOT for the reasons that demons are going to come into the room if we do. The test is living by faith. If we live by faith, our dependence is upon God and not what we can rehearse verbally.

  5. This is from a Darlene Bishop blog post written in 6/2009:

"The God of this universe SPOKE the world into existence, BREATHED the breath of life into Adam, and sent His Incarnate WORD to redeem this world. If we are created in HIS IMAGE then there MUST be something to us speaking HIS Word into our lives! And not just speaking forth His promises, but COMMANDING our blessing! We are the children of a King and He has given us His authority to command the cursing to go and the blessing to come! Just like an earthly king can “lend” his authority to the one he sends, so God has done with those who obey His Word. He has put his seal upon us and has called us into a “royal priesthood,” made us “joint heirs with Jesus Christ,” and adopted us as “children” of the Most High! As such, we have the ability to see that every good gift from God comes into our lives and operates freely as we speak it forth. Now is the time for you to step into God’s abundant life and into your BEST days by “Commanding Your Blessing!”"

Now Darlene was sued by the estate of her late brother, Darryl Perry in 2005 for misappropriating funds. She was cleared of that but during the process it came out that she said in her book that she had been healed of cancer. The FACT is that she was never medically diagnosed with cancer at all.

So she wrote it in a book, claiming that she was healed, but it was a was LIE the whole time.

Read this deposition transcript in 2006 of Darlene's testimony in this case, and you'll get a good snapshot of her and a CFO who she claims wasn't paid for her work and read pages 16 and 17 of Darlene's statements about her breast cancer that she said she was healed of even though she was never medically diagnosed with breast cancer...

    This is really something else.

  6. I'm surprise at Darlene Bishop I didn't realize she had move toward this kinda of teaching. I remember her teaching at many of Bishop Jakes women conferences back in the day. I really enjoyed her back then.

  7. All I can say is WOW!!! I've been through a trial that lasted for 18 long months - and no amount of confessing, trying to bribe God through tithing, confessing Malachi 3:10, sowing seeds, speaking to my mountains, commanding my morning, or calling those things that are not, as though they may be, got me out it!!! I got through it because God took me through in HIS TIME, NOT MINE!!!! He delivered me when He was ready, and I’m not the same person!!! God changed me from the inside out – I don’t even think the same way! When I confessed the Word, it was not to move God's hand, nor remind Him of His promises; it was to remind this weak and helpless vapor of air of His promises.
These people are of the devil and deluded; and deluding others! If people would only read the Word and believe, these slick willies would not be able to get away with this foolishness!!! Our spiritual forefathers went through many trials and tribulations; some unto the death. Do we read in scripture that Abraham who had faith and it was accounted to him as righteousness, do we read about him speaking into the atmosphere? Or did he in faith walk his son up the side of the mountain and tie him down to be sacrificed; then God spoke, there’s a ram in the bush!!! Did the 3 Hebrew boys speak themselves out of the fiery furnace???? Or did these men of faith in God, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Dan 3:16-18) Neither space nor time allows for me to go through the faith filled stories of the saints that have gone on before us.
Since these are the facts, then how in the world can we think that we can speak into the atmosphere, speak problems away, sow a seed into some liar’s ministry or plead the blood of Jesus and our problems magically disappear??? This is insanity at best; no wonder saints are falling by the wayside and atheists and others fools are empowered! Wake up people of God and trust Him alone! Sola Scriptura! Great article Supt Burnett~

  8. Lady D,

you said"Since these are the facts, then how in the world can we think that we can speak into the atmosphere, speak problems away, sow a seed into some liar’s ministry or plead the blood of Jesus and our problems magically disappear??? This is insanity at best; no wonder saints are falling by the wayside and atheists and others fools are empowered!"

I know that's right! These folk want to simply talk their troubles away or talk themselves into a blessing from the Lord. They try to manipulate God like some of these manipulate the people for money.

This is tantamount to spell casting for a rebellious generation of people. Similar to witchcraft, they believe they can simply pronounce a spell, put Jesus name on it, and it will all be OK...

There is more to "earnestly contending" that what they teach. In Christ we have the victory, but we don;t know what we must go through for HIS glory.

  9. Amen brother! Thousands of saints have been murdered, lost all possessions, starved, fed to the lions, used as candles, raped, imprisoned, etc.; even across the sea in 2011, saints are being murdered for the cause of Christ.

We American Christians think that because no speaks to us that we are suffering!! Heaven forbid any financial difficulties because of job loss or foolish spending, people start binding the devil like they really have power to bind the devil!!! If the devil could be bound by mere mortals, believe me all headlines would read “Another Day For Blessed Events”! No more murders, rapes, robberies, child abuse, gangs and so on. Most of the problems that we have are due to poor planning, bad judgment, being inpatient, thinking before we speak and not apologizing; you get the picture, we cause most of our suffering. Then we are not willing to submit to God in any form, but think we can just speak the problem away, or put money in the offering basket– Pastor that is witchcraft! All people need is a wand, some candles and a cauldron and make it official! Job suffered at the hands of the adversary, but not one time did he bind the devil! He kept his eyes on the Lord, even in the midst of losing 10 children and everything that he worked for; and to add to his suffering, 3 religious men continued to probe and find fault and blame him for his troubles. God allows what He allows; He is Creator and Sovereign Lord! We contend by believing and obeying God’s Word, not man’s word. Pastor, this speak into the atmosphere stuff is worse than the evolution fairy tale; and doing equal damage~

  10. What the Church has left behind, for some centuries now, is Holy Tradition. That was the stabilising force that kept the Church before the canon of the New Testament was completed and the lens through which Scripture was read to prevent "private interpretation". A return to that Tradition handed down by Christ to the Apostles and from them to the leadership and laity is what is sorely needed now. Some of us read our Bibles, but how many have actually studied it. Furthermore, how many who have studied the Bible have actually studied the early Church Fathers and their commentaries on the Scriptures. Their application of Scripture in light of Holy Tradition put to shame many of the same heresies that are rearing up in the Church today.

  11. Greetings to everyone,

Ok, I am new here (and young), but found this blog interesting..
Just to be clear as a young believer, I want to fully understand what is being said in relation to what was said by a poster earlier ........"Since these are the facts, then how in the world can we think that we can speak into the atmosphere, speak problems away, sow a seed into some liar’s ministry or plead the blood of Jesus and our problems magically disappear??? This is insanity at best; no wonder saints are falling by the wayside and atheists and others fools are empowered!"
...... I understand the middle part, but want to know if you are saying that we can't plead the blood of Jesus concerning problems (sickness, etc...) and that we should not confess things to be what they aren't?- or have faith for them to change?...again just asking because I want to be clear. I understand what Pastor Burnet is saying to a degree, but Im still not getting whether or not it means that we should or should not exercise faith for certain things. After all I believe that faith in its simplest form (again Im a newbie) is believing in something that you can not see materially or physically, or that does not appear to exist.
Thanks and God bless you all

  12. Jillria,

Thanks for commenting and I appreciate your input and inquiry. I also invite others to address the issue you raise as well.

What the basis of the presentation is, is in whom or what should faith be placed in? "Speaking to the atmosphere" suggests that the individual has some sort of metaphysical or metaspiritual power or ability. There is no inference that GOd is doing anything. This is based on the persons's ability to pronounce a set of words and expect those words to create or reshape a reality.

"Pleading the blood" is a term that has been used in a similar manner. It has become associated with an "anti-deominic" incantation of some sort, that will heal, protect, cast out demons etc.

To "plead the blood" actually means to rely on the finished work of Jesus for what is needed or desired. in prayer when we "plead the blood" for a "healing" or a "miracle", we are actually saying two things, 1- that our reliance is upon Christ and what he has done and 2- all matters of our need are subject to Christ and his will in regards to the matter.

So the object of our faith is the key element. The power isn't in the words or the phrases used, because words have no metaphysical power. The object of our faith is in God through Christ. This is why Jesus said to pray to the father in his name and HE will do it.

So in order to be effective one must remove the "mysticism" from what is being said and place those things in context. The believer is covered "under the blood", when believing faith is exercised. That is a spiritual transaction that is dependent upon God and not a spiritual transaction that depends upon man to make some sort of declaration.

Hopefully that will help in some way. I invite others to chime in as well.

  13. “The believer is covered "under the blood", when believing faith is exercised.”

    Might I add;

    1Jo 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We can plead the blood but if we are NOT WALKING IN THE LIGHT then what good is our plea??

There is no cleansing power for those that plead the blood but refuse to walk in the light (point reiterated!!)

  14. Have you noticed that most of these teachers are writing books called "Laws to ..."?

They are exposing some "laws" that they say are hidden or tucked away in God's word.

Can you imagine how Simon Magus, Cerenthus and Marcion would have promoted and accepted this mess? Can you see a second and third century gnostic proud over all this mess that they are putting out?

    It's a mess.

  18. Carole,

Thanks my sister for accepting the challenge and digging into the issue.

One thing is for sure, I believe in a positive confession. I also believe that we should speak to ourselves with the word of God, psalms and hymns as the scripture has said. However we should be challenged to remember, that even if we are MUTES, God STILL is able to do exceeding abundantly above ALL that we ASK or THINK.

One more thing for those looking on, has God ever been in the presence and the atmosphere not change?

I can name some lepers, quadrapalegics,(sic) blind folk and all that the presence of the Lord wasn't confessed, because they didn't even know who he was, but God simply had his way...

  19. Just in case someone is still struggling with these concepts and how far off track that the church has gotten with this, look at Oprah, whom I love dearly...but look at how off track she became and is with this message.

The law of attraction responsible for here success

    ReplyDelete
  20. I meant HER in that last comment...

One more thing...remember Jessica Lunsford? She was a 9 year old raped and killed by a pervert and buried not too far from her home.

Larry King had an interview with believers in this "Law of attraction" that these church teachers are teaching using the bible as cover...This is an accounting of the interview:

When the Australian television producer Rhonda Byrne published The Secret in 2006 it – with the help of an endorsement by Oprah Winfrey – went straight to the top of bestseller lists. Byrne advocated positive thinking as a means of achieving one's goals, blaming negative thoughts for lack of success. In an appearance on Larry King Live, one of the book's "gurus" Joe Vitale suggested that the nine-year-old murder victim Jessica Lunsford had "attracted" her fate; shortly afterwards another of the book's cheerleaders claimed that the inhabitants of Darfur were suffering a manifestation of their negative thoughts.

I personally saw this interview and heard this man say with his own mouth that Jessica, a 9 year old innocent, had attracted her own rape and murder to herself by her own words and thoughts.

Larry King didn't know how to deal with it and even challenged him and he continued that nothing happened to her without her attracting it to herself.

They scrubbed that interview off of the internet, but if I find it I will post it so you can hear it for yourselves. It was chilling.

For the church to build a teaching based on that, only replace the confession with the word of God is a doctrine of devils. Unfortunately that's exactly what many of our leaders are preaching and teaching from our pulpits and have you noticed our communities keep getting worse and worse?

  21. Thank you Pastor and others that have made healthy comments - this is a good conversation. Regarding pleading the blood and speaking the Word over someone; I stick to the Word. If God does not say it, I won't say it and that keeps me from making stuff it. I pray what Jesus taught, "Thy will be done". God You know what I need, I know what I want - Your will be done.

And I don't get to boss the angels around either (another subject for another time). Regarding the law of attraction, it’s just attracting more nut jobs that unfortunately have a wide realm of influence.

Saints, stick with the scripture and we will NEVER go wrong~

  22. A quick study of gnosticism shows you where this "name it claim it" "speak it in the atmosphere" comes from. It's also a babylonian concept. But God's message to His people repeatedly is that His will be done. And God's people repeat over and over again God's will be done. Even in asking in Christ name, it must be in the will of God. And this all falls under the header of FAITH. Not my will but YOUR will

  23. 1 John 5:14 ~ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

Further to ask "in HIS name" suggests to ask according to and subject to HIS will.

Now there are tims we should contend in prayer, but that is not because God needs to be convinced to do something that is not his will, neither is our contention a session of casting a "spell" on the minds of others. It is prayers for God to intervene supernaturally by displaying total subjection to him...

I feel like praying right now!!!

  25. Good sound article. The actual term "law of attraction" first appears in the writings of Hinduism and HP Blavatsky esoteric writings. Blavatsky is known as the "Mother of the New Age Movement."

In this article you mention Donald Lawrence esoteric statements "The Law of Confession," Lawrence in the back of Luciferian Prophet Bernard Jordan book The Laws of Prosperity both Lawrence and Hezekiah Walker endorse Jordan's book. It's subtle New Age/Occult teaching, and not the Bible.

  26. One of the heretics mentioned in this article wants it removed for "copyright" infringement.

If that's not the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, I don't know what is.

The fact is that there is NOTHING in this article or any other that is not public knowledge or that can't be used under the Fair Use Doctrine.

I'll find out exactly who is making the report, and will publish that broadly, but until then, just REPENT of your heresy instead of trying to hide it!

  27. Grace and a Peace,

So are we coming from the stand point that just speaking something is wrong? Because work plays a big part in it if your going to believe it? So someone, because through my reading all of this you start off good then flip it with opinions, bitterness etc. from what i feel.

Through Christ we have the victory, But don’t know what we will have to go through to get it. I don’t live my life on a BUT when it comes to God If have the victory, then i have the victory.

Is it that people are trying to manipulate things or making what a God has already said audible because of what their facing is speaking louder than what was promised. I call that a push back.

So without all the extra stuff:
What is wrong with Speaking into the atmosphere and making a declaration.

    1. Pt. 1 of 2

      Bro. Lindwood,

Thanks for your commentary. Rarely, if ever, do I go to private emails to discuss a topic on the board unless it's warranted by subject matter. So be careful sharing your email.

You should not read with intent to decipher "feelings" such as "bitterness", because that has nothing to do with the argument or anything I said and or stated. I am certainly not bitter in any respect and never have been.

I would say in order to understand what is being said, if you intend to be fair, please stick with the subject matter. Pretend that this is coming from your mother or someone with whom you have great favor, as that might help you pay special attention to what is being said.

That is not an insult. It is a recognition that out of all that I said, you paid not attention> How do I know? Your first 2 questions were answered in the article.

This is what I said in the article:

Speaking what is accordance with the word of God, is never wrong. Speaking to manipulate reality or to augment reality is NOT a biblical construct. That is based and rooted in false doctrine as I have further outlined within the article. I said this:

"The more ominous assertion is that words manipulate spiritual reality. That words that are spoken out loud work behind the curtains of reality to create circumstances that would not have otherwise been created without the words being spoken. Thoughts along this line are equally as faulty or fallacious of an argument. Although the communication of certain words can either energize, motivate or deflate and depress is obvious, but that is not a meta-spiritual process."

So words DO NOT manipulate physical and or spiritual reality based upon themselves.

This teaching is rooted in a revamped and repackaged "law of attraction" motif, which is about universal consciousness, NOT God consciousness.

As a Pentecostal of over 35 years, I understand how that may sound to you and other individuals who have embraced this sort of concept thinking that it is mainline Pentecostalism. It is shocking to find that this concept and others like it are NOT mainline Pentecostalism and are not concepts inspired by the Spirit of the Living God, or as we call him, the Holy Ghost!

But none of that changes the reality and or facts.

The concept, as it is applied and explained even by those who apply it, is NOT biblical, nor is it inspired by God and cannot be demonstrated within scripture.

Where within scripture is something like this done? Look at every New Testament miracle. Was the "speak it into the atmosphere" motif used? Even when it comes to encouraging one another and encouraging self...was the method to be used, "speak it into the atmosphere"?

    2. Pt. 2 of 2

The scripture said the following about self encouragement:

Phil. 4:8 ~ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

"think" not "speak it into the atmosphere"

Gal. 5:18-21 ~ 18-And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19-Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20-Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21-Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

"speaking to yourselves", NOT "speak it into the atmosphere"...Speaking to "yourselves" literally meant to rehearse and remind one another of these things but in no way implies a manipulation of physical and or spiritual reality.

So Bru, the problem is, if we are going to practice anything within the church, it ought to be in accordance with scripture and a scriptural command and or example. Unfortunately, there is NO precedence and or command for this particular practice.

We have the victory, without and aside from any of those things. Speak something to make yourself confidence rise, but not to manipulate reality...

      Thanks.

    3. He Rev...

Let me just chime in if I may...

YOU asked “What is wrong with Speaking into the atmosphere and making a declaration.” as it pertains to getting the VICTORY.

Just do me one favor please – Take your time and read I Corinthians Chapter 15. All of it.

Take note Paul what says about VICTORY in the life of the BELIEVER, that it has nothing to do with “speaking into the atmosphere –

      1) For I am the least of the apostles, because I persecuted the church of God.
      2) By the grace of God, he labored among God’s people and preach so they believed.
      3) He noted some didn’t believe in a resurrection and that Jesus was not resurrected from the dead.
      4) He said if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
      5) He EMPHASIZED the truth to them CHRIST is RISEN.
      6) Paul said “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
      7) Christ must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
      8) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
      9) Paul tells us that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God
      10) We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, this corruptible
      shall have put on incorruption,
      12) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
      13) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
      14) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

***NOTE - HE has given us the VICTORY THROUGH CHRIST, who ROSE from the DEAD TO TAKE THE STING OUT OF DEATH.

      15) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

*** AND BECAUSE BY FAITH WE BELIEVE WHAT CHRIST DID TO GIVE US THE "VICTORY" over The sting of DEATH; and the strength of SIN is the law.. We can live a this LIFE OF FAITH tedfast, unmoveable, always WORKING for the LORD, knowin that OUR labour will NOT BE IN VAIN.

THAT"S VICTORY and VICTORIOUS LIVING my FRIEND!

God doesn't need us to come up with our OWN WAY, to "speak into the atmosphere" NOTHING!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

  28. The interesting thing about this is that the devil is known from a New Testament standpoint as the "prince of the power of the air"...or ATMOSPHERE...

Ephes 2:2 ~ Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

This indicates that the devil has a presence and inspiration in what is called the "unseen world" or reality. This is where these meta-spiritual and metaphysical concepts come from. James says that they were inspired by a "earthly", and "sensual" wisdom which was inspired by demons "devilish" (James 3:15)

The law of attraction as rehearsed in the world or as repackaged and taught within the church is inspired by demons, NOT the Holy Ghost.
