Has conservatism been hijacked? Has the fight for traditional marriage, for the right to life and safe borders created a tolerance for unethical behavior, divisive behavior, and immoral sentiments?
Are we like the man with the withered hand in the synagogue? Good on one side, but unable to function and reach out on the other? Does the conservative silence on immoral values endorse those values?
Regarding President Trump's recent "s#!#-hole nations" Christian conservative Pastor Robert Jeffress said the following:
Was he "right on target"? Is conservatism rightfully associated with separatism based on color, or ethnicity (racism) and a reduction of group and individual rights in the struggle for freedom, equality, justice and a better future?

Maybe because President Obama was so extreme left that it is acceptable for this President to go extreme right?
What we want to know, is WHO will hold him accountable? As we can see...not too many and that is to our SHAME as so called conservative Christians!
I don't know Rev... But here's my take.
ReplyDeleteThere are two schools of thought among Christians as to the Church’s approach the should take when confronting social "injustice". One group protests against the evils of injustice. Another group aspires to do the GREAT COMMISSION, knowing the LORD will judge this world. Whatever the case, we as Christians have to discern what the Bible commands.
When I read the Bible, I note Jesus did not come to judge the injustices of the world. He came unto His own and His own receive Him not. He rebuked many of Israel's leaders. He came to fulfill the Law, and performed many miracles to prove His divinity. He stated "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar, and unto God that which is GOD."
And even in the early church, Paul rebuked the apostles, when they refused to fulfilled the Great Commission. Paul, a Jew and an apostle himself, furthered his mission to plant churches in different cities, and instructed the saints in the way of truth and doctrine. Paul only appeared before the magistrates when tried because of the faith. So all this fight the power stuff going on today Rev. I'm really not sure.
Not only that, but think about it...even if these "conservatives" spoke up against RACISM, it's not a guarantee any will learn how to love and care for one another. I'm thinking Rev...maybe there is no need for us to make our own way, as if to add on top of the commands the LORD has given us.
Maybe we as Christians should not call to protest and to put an end to "racism". We may want to consider more our calling to spread the ONLY MESSAGE GOD has given. And that message is mankind LOST and must be saved. Man needs to repent, and turn away from all attitudes of hatred. I'm just saying Rev.
A lot of us shout in protest at times, as if RACISM and HATRED is the unpardonable sin. We march in pompiety against HATRED, while failing to mention, and are oftentimes GUILTY of the things the LORD HATES (you know what I mean) - "These six things the LORD hates: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren". I'm SURE Rev. in the midst of serving in behalf of "injustice", the LORD highly disapproves of any of HIS children, swirling in hypocrisy to BOAST his endowment to ACHIEVE social justice (which by the way, IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN in this life!) I don't know Rev. I'm just saying.
Truth of the MATTER is The LORD will judge the world and destroy this world's systems - "Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." AND that MAN is JESUS! The LORD needs no help from us to do His job, you know what I mean.
Jesus commanded us to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." So rather than protesting against the intangibles of evil, we should be about the LORD's commission to preach the GOSPEL to a lost and dying world. There will be some RACISTs who would accept the message, but most WHO will not! The LORD's ROAD is narrow. Hell is enlarging itself everyday. IJS.
You see Rev. RACE and RACISM are the ideals of demonic doctrines of evolution. The folks behind the design of such creeds are cunning when using bait and switch - on one hand esteeming man and nature's call for a better world, and on the other hand, clutching the doctrine of the superiority of one race over the other.
I don't know REV. This is a tough one. But instead of going at fellow Christians, maybe the saints should come together with Bibles opened and act upon what thus saith the LORD. IMHO.
Glory & Honor, I deleted your comment by mistake, but placed the complete comment back under anonymous.
DeleteTo the point of your comment, The message of Christ deals with the political and social norms of the world so much to upset them and set them on their face, and to preach the gospel as the Lord has called us to do will challenge the culture. If one is not engaged in both, faith is only a said faith in my opinion.
DeleteI mean, in American history, some of the early great abolitionists where Whites, one converted who gave all that they had to preach equality and liberation of men. That was done because of faith, as many said that their beliefs and faith in Christ could not allow them to merely sit around and preach a message without engaging and changing the culture.
And I dare say that Paul's only reason to desire to be taken to Caesar was to "fight the power" in the sense that he knew that if Caesar changed, the nation changed and eventually it did. Was he protesting like we do today? No, not exactly. This is different culture. I would not expect to see him doing the same things in his time as we do today...what we do know however, if it hadn't have been for "fight the power" Blacks would still not yet have rights in society that Whites have always enjoyed. This has been only slightly over 50 since Blacks have enjoyed the same set of Civil rights as Whites in this country. A very short time considering the history of the nation.
The religious power structure on Jesus time was who Jesus engaged. He was not so nice by calling them snakes, vipers, devils, children of the devil and so on...However, I don;t think anyone can make an argument that he was not the most effective preacher that ever lived on the earth???
Racism is a result of the fall and as such is a product of sin. If we stand against all other sins, then why can't we stand against racism? We stand against abortion, pedophilia, rape, murder etc. Why do we feel that making a vehement stand against racism has to be handled "gently"???
I believe that is a holdover from the sin nature that that we have or had. That must be challenged just like any other sin.
I expect Trump to be oblivious to this. He isn't saved. But or his advisers to not hold him accountable is an abject failure in my opinion and only displays the heart of unwise and some wicked councillors.
I hear you REV.
DeleteI can see standing up against ABORTION, because that act of murder, against an innocent child (though some say fetus – no controversy per the Bible) is cut and dry in a way. There is direct proof, the woman gets pregnant and murders her. Same with PEDOPHILIA, where the law clearly defines a minor and an adult.
However, with police brutality, it may appear to not be as cut and dry. With lots of these cases, procedures are supposedly followed where hearings take place before the courts. Other considerations where some assume the victim may have not been compliant. Then you have the conspirators who conclude i.e. the case with Travon Martin, his Masonic father reaped financially and gained high standards in the LODGE. There was similar swirl about the parents of Michael Brown, and protesters being paid to inflame the situation. I don’t know Rev.
Even with “institutional racism” where Blacks are denied better opportunities for economic growth and livelihood, a lot of swirl with that as well. There are procedures lined in place which should allow for us to prove discrimination.
I agree whites Christian stood up against racism. I recommend a good video about the man Wilberforce. I have to say though, it was much easier to fight against the injustice against Blacks back then because the law dictated Blacks were unequal. These days I’m not so sure Rev. it’s that easy. I don’t know Rev. I do know the answer for all this swirl MADNESS is the LORD, and HE IS JUDGING (even if it may not be apparent in our eyes) and will JUDGE RIGHTEOUSLY in the END,
I’m not sure Christ dealt so much “with political and social norms” as you say. I’m agree he dealt with the religious leader - those whom he labeled snakes, vipers and white sepulcher, the Pharisee and the Sadducees. They were of their father the devil. They stole from the poor, blasphame the name of the GOD they claimed they worshiped, and worse than anything, killed the very God who made them, because they HATED HIM.
Not only Jesus, but their hatred spilled over to Paul. Remember Paul went to Jerusalem and met with James to resolve the conflict as to whether the Gentiles should keep the Jewish law. Right after that the Jews stirred up the all the people and sought to lay hands on him. “And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.” Acts 21:31
Bottom line…Paul ended up before the Sanhedrin (Acts 22:30), before Felix (Acts 24), before Felix (Acts 24), before Caesar (Acts 25) and finally before Agrippa (Acts 26) because the JEWS hated Him and conspired against him because of the GOSPEL he taught! Not so much to “fight the power”, but because he was “fighting the good fight”.
And Paul, like Christ, admonished AGAINST FALSE TEACHERS and DOCTRINE – “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
We as His people today, I’m gathering from the “Dunamis” of the WORD of God, should DEFEND the truth, and SPEAK the TRUTH about our LORD in the COURTS of OUR DAY if we happened to be on trial there, rather than protest IN FRONT of the COURTS for justice. Like Jesus and Paul, we should expose all false teachers, and the lies of ALL FALSE DOCTRINE against wolves coming in sheep’s clothing. IJS…
Whereas some say “STAY WOKE”…I say ”BE QUICKEN”…
